$25 dollars for a Freespace 2 100% run on the hardest difficulty

Woohoo! Go Freespace!

What about Freespace 1?  And do you know about the source code project?  Would any of the modded/improved FS2 versions be accepted?  I think the changes were only visual enhancements.

If you're willing to expand the bounty to include FS1 I might go for it, though your 100% definition seems crazy to me - I doubt I could ever produce something that hardcore, and if any did, they deserve a lot more than $25...

cool regardless

I have never played FS1, although I'd like to.  I suppose I should get around to it soon.  And I doubt the scp/mods could be used, since the run is meant to get onto SDA, even if they do make the game prettier.

Increasing the bounty wouldn't be a bad idea, but I'm not rich.

To tell you the truth, I was hoping *you* would do the run, Psonar.  You seem to like these space shooters. Tongue

Yes you should - it's awesome!  Haven't played it in a few years though...

Yeah you're right, I just got pumped when I found this whole Freespace 2 community and the new version called "Freespace 2 Open" is a free download, so I was happy to atleast have some version of the game - I just got it several days ago and haven't played past the training missions though...

Yay for being poor! Me too!

Yeah, I would love to if I had the actual game and everything.  I've thought a lot about Freespace 1 and I haven't tackled it at all because it's so daunting and I haven't played the game in years.  This has really got me thinking though about Freespace 1, or Ebaying Freespace 2 to get a real copy.  The summer is young - we'll see what happens!

Edit:
Whoa! I just realized you (Vorpal Edge) are Maur! Gotta love the name changes...I know that happened like months ago, but I noticed you around when I first got to SDA because you posted in most of the really ancient Star Fox 64 topics. . .

I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
The Source Code Project has changed the AI of the game so a run would not be accepted using it.

I wrote Radix a while ago asking if I could do one and he said no though because he was busy, I should warn you.

And I assume due to the sheer length of this game it would be done mission-by-mission?

It sure would be fun competing with you Psonar... no NTSC/PAL differences on PC  Grin

No matter what EA would think though, believe it or not they mutilate our PC game cutscenes by thinking we run our PCs at 50Hz and so jerkyness abound  Angry

New AI?  Cool - I hadn't realized that...I only skimmed the surface of what they've been doing for the last several years.

That's what was so "daunting" to me was the sheer length of the game(s).  I'm assuming FS2 is similar in length to FS1.  I like the concept of Single Segment way more than individual missions, and I personally dread my first segmented run because I don't want to have to keep up with the recording and whatnot.  My infantile whining aside - yeah - individual missions would realy be the way t go on one of these!

Ooooh, competition with the other SF64 runner.... I would almost play a game I hated to get in on that! If it's FS2 that you want, then give me time to acquire and play the game... for FS1 though I can start whenever.

FS2 has... 41 missions?  So yeah, single-segment would fail unless your skill is equal to everyone elses' on this site combined.  You can do one if you want to, but... Tongue

Psonar: I recommend you just grab a torrent of the isos for now (since it's actually legal for this game; the license says you can distribute it for free) and only buy a copy if you know for sure you're going to run it.  They still go for about $50 on ebay, which is murder for a game this old.

"Dive, pilot!  Dive!"
Going to ask again as I guess no one cared about my post :P. And I haven't read everything, so someone else might have asked it, oh well.

What if you are running on PAL, is it impossible for you to get the bounty? Or is a recalculated NTSC time going to be made?

Tompa: It would depend on the guy offering the bounty.

I'm on a Pokemon buzz right now with Pearl and all, and I decided there's something I'd like to see.  I will pay a $100 bounty for a single-segment run through any of the games in the Kanto region.  So Red, Blue, Yellow, (Green,) Fire Red and Leaf Green are included.

Consider it done once I free up the hard drive space... and get out of school. Under 3 hours should be pretty easy.

Good news!  Really, even though it means some bucks out of my pocket, that's great.  I knew you would be capable of one, Cygnus.

I'm kind of hoping for a traditional Bulba/Char/Squirtle run, but the glitched Mew run would be fine too, and it would be something new.

no rush, quality > soonness

Well I guess you'll be happy because I plan to do a Squirtle run. I don't really have a great estimate on what time I'll get, but I'm going to work on a practice run today so I should get a decent estimate when I'm done with that.

Very neat!

All I can offer is best wishes.  You know the game better than anyone.

piece of cake!
what is the goal of this topic? I don't really understand.
I have no solution, but i admire the problem.
You can offer bounties for certain speedruns, which means that the one who does the run, gets money for that from the guy who offered the bounty. Everyone can put up bounties, everyone can claim them. Now don't ask why people ( including me ) pay money to see speedruns.
He's back!

Also would like to add a bounty since someone at TSC claims it, $75 for :18 in Emerald Hill 1, Sonic 2. I don't think its possible (I can't do it), someone else says they've already done it, so prove me wrong.

I claim the bounty

Even although I technically meet the goal you set I don't beleve I'm really entitled to it Sad

put me down for £25 on a saturn bomberman speedrun, preferably single segment, if there are difficulty settings (forgot now) preferably the hardest difficulty.

Hi, sorry to do this but please remove my bounties for Pokemon Emerald and Final Fantasy XII.
No problem.
MGS for PS1 forever.
Having recently played through and beaten King Kong...I would like to see one of that done for $25. SS or segmented.

Lately I've gone back through and beaten a couple of games that I had bought a year or so ago.

Mark of Kri $25. SS or segmented.
Rise of the Kasai $25. SS or segmented.
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Hello, I'm sorta new to this, so sorry if I make any noob-like mistakes.  I'm want to try for the THPS 1 any% run, and I read that I should contact him before trying, or at least before submitting, but I can't get ahold of Hexrapper.  Is there something I should do?

Thanks,

Randy
