Both seems pointless, as you'd lose them all, so I would say just the ones San Andreas counts as ones the second time around as you return near the end.

Ok, so only the territories you'd get at the end of the game, then?
But that still leaves the issue of the "glitch" territories, as one they're created, they stay, and function like normal territories (other than the fact they aren't there normally, they act completely legitimate, counting as part of the total territory % and such).
Doing them would introduce a very random element into it, which would be nearly impossible to complete, as I've gone HOURS in some of those territories without seeing 3+ gang members (I've seen 1 or 2, but you need 3 to start the war).
I apologize to royalACE for taking so long to put up his bounty. I am willing to put up "bounties" that don't actually offer money BTW, but if it gets out of hand or if people complain then I'll take those down.
Should we make it policy that for anyone to recieve a bounty they have to get in contact with the person offering it before submitting the run to SDA?
I'll add that to the first post. To recieve a bounty, a runner has to get in contact with (PM) the person offering it, preferably before even starting work on the speedrun. Obviously if the person offering the bounty doesn't respond then that's a good indication you might not recieve any money.
I hope no one offering bounties gets totally flooded with PMs because of this
In that case, we may just leave them out. I would really like to see them done, but if it is too much a hassle, forget it.
Well, aside from the fact it's one of the things that would really force me to go out of my way (going to SF at best, when there'd be no more reason to), it's also incredibly hit or miss, and I usually hate doing something on a game that is purely luck (why I don't do a lot of stuff like low-level runs on RPGs). I could encounter a group of 3-4 gang members after one minute of searching...or it could take hours of reloading before finding only two, then repeat.
You're the one who's funding this run, so I'll leave the decision up to you
Eh, there's enough to do in this game as it is, so forget it. On May 11th, I will post my official bounties including this one, which will have a detailed description of each.
What can you say? That Mario is an Italian charmer!
There are actually more games I'd offer cash for, but I'll keep it simple and focused. I'd rather use Paypal, but I could send a check if I had to, I guess. Anyone interested just has to get an appropriate run up on SDA. I would be verifying of course.
Star Ocean 1 (JP): $50 Star Ocean 2: $50 Valkyrie Profile, hard mode 100% (all dungeons): $50 Star Ocean 3, single segment: $25 Radiata Stories, 100% (all characters): $50 (and another $200 from slowbro) Valkyrie Profile 2, single segment: $25
No prize for guessing the theme. There are more categories I'd reward, except that I know they're already being worked on or in queue. I know that's dumb but sorry.
Hello there, I'm willing to attempt the Star Ocean 2 speedrun. Just need to mail this place some VHS tapes at SP quality, is all? I suck at anything that involves video-to-PC converting, so this kinda method is very cool with me
Any specifications on difficulty level? Earth (default) is what I'd go with if there are none. Also, is the No Random Encounter trick* allowed to shave time?
*-By swapping a Killer Move in the menu, the random encounter generator # (or whatever it is...) gets reset, allowing you to travel across areas faster
Another potential problem involves the tediousness of recording over & over again certain parts of the game, such as Customize, where one has to constantly reload the game until s/he gets what is wanted.
Is there any way to skip those quick little segments off the tape, and simply continue the recording from loading the save after getting what I want (specifying in the speedrun notes where such instances occur)? Overwriting 5-second failures 100 times or more would be annoying.
Almost any glitch or time-saving trick is allowed if it doesn't involve teleporting the character or going out of bounds into areas that aren't supposed to exist, so a method to avoid random encounters is probably not only allowed, but preferred.
Sorry, you definitely cannot leave segments unrecorded. Trying a Customize 100 times to get what you want is definitely fine, and all the attempts where you end up resetting will not count toward your total time, but the attempt where you save the game afterward definitely has to be recorded. No one will complain if 100 failed attempts are on your tape. If the problem is buying enough tapes, people here (Enhasa or me or others) would gladly buy you some, along with a head cleaner tape.
Just a note, VHS recordings will no longer be allowed at around the start of 2008. I guess that gives you a deadline, unless you want to switch to a DVD recorder (definitely recommended if you're going to do a lot of recording for this site).
The funny thing is that no one has said anything about the Oblivion 100% run on the hardest difficutly slider. That is worth 300 to me...so I'm gonna do that bitch. I just now saw that damn bounty!!! You can probably expect it in a few months...maybe, depending on how school works out, but I'm gonna do it, damnitall! That is something that I think would be really interesting and fun to do.
hmmm...I'm rambling...5 am will do that to ya!!!
OOO...and I'd like some comments/thoughts on the oblivion run...this is something that hasn't really been done before (especially on hard mode...)
Thanks slowbro! It's good to know that recording all the failed attempts for the Item Creation segments won't cost me any official time. And the tape problem isn't an issue.
Just gotta wait for Enhasa to show up for the couple of unanswered questions before I can start. Actually, I guess it's only one: the difficulty. But hey, s/he may have other specifications too, so I'd rather not jump into it before knowing.
Hey, sorry for the delay in responding. spineshark tells me he recognizes you from gamefaqs, so hi.

Use Earth since it's generally SDA policy to have "out of the box" runs up before using unlockables. You can do Universe later if you want. Or possibly single segment or anything else you would like to try. My criteria is just to get a run on SDA.
Definitely reset the step counter. This works in some other games too, and it's only coincidence nobody's done this for a SDA run, to my knowledge.

Like slowbro said, don't worry about editing anything yourself. Just start recording and keep on trying until it works. You don't have to hit rewind until you run out of tape of course. However you SHOULD definitely keep a record of the start and stop points for the segments that count, so when you mail them in, you can include this information.

Well it wouldn't make any sense to count failed segments for time because someone could just edit them away. Plus it makes no sense to begin with. Just so you know, the way timing works is: the game timer that is last seen + the real time for the rest of the run (timer stops as you land the final hit). If you have any other questions, just ask.

If unlockables are more difficult than the default, it's also allowed, but I don't see why you wouldn't want to just use Earth for the first run. It's not like it's going to be too easy or anything. =/
Bouken Jidai Katsugeki: Goemon (PS2), an SS, pure speed. $50.
Double Dragon (XBLA), SS, no lives taken. $25.
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2x (Xbox), SS, 100% (that means all cash, gaps, goals, all levels (THPS & THPS2 & additional), etc. For only one skater, obviously =P.) $70.
EDIT: gaps may be debatable here, I know how much of a burden those bastards are <_<. Cash is a must though, that 22m~ THPS2 run with all cash seals the fact that it's not asking too much =P
Paid via PayPal. Will be able to pay upon completion unless I purchased something already that day (I have a limit on my bank account), in which case I'll get you the money the immediate following day, or unless I'm for some reason low on money at the time, in which case the payment will take no longer than an additional two weeks (paid every two weeks, but generally speaking I don't exactly go blowing away my money =P.) Note on the XBLA title: dunno if SDA accepts XBLA runs, assuming it does with this nomination.
Important to note: if there is an existing run for any of these titles, I wish for a time beating the current standing time. I also will only pay once the titles are up on SDA.
I'm on a Pokemon buzz right now with Pearl and all, and I decided there's something I'd like to see. I will pay a $100 bounty for a single-segment run through any of the games in the Kanto region. So Red, Blue, Yellow, (Green,) Fire Red and Leaf Green are included.
The run would have to make it onto SDA before I'd pay. And any category of SS would be fine -- if you want to use glitches and do a Mew run, assuming the run is accepted by SDA, I'd pay. Of course no trading between cartridges is permitted And I'll only pay this bounty once, except in the case where I know multiple people are working at different games/categories at the same time, in which case I would sure consider paying more than one person. In any case it has to be single segment.
$25 dollars for a Freespace 2 100% run on the hardest difficulty (100% is defined as all medals (and all missions, but I think you need those for all medals anyways)). For the medals of which there are multiples (the SOC crest and the distinguished flying cross, I think), you need to get both. The run must get on SDA. Also, do make sure to show your difficulty settings in each segment too, since you can change them in between each mission.
I'd be willing to help planning (and point you towards some resources, like a medals list, but those I found on the first page of a google search anyways). I just don't think I'm good enough to do the run myself.
Also, make sure to contact me before you start working on it. Circumstances may have changed at that point. And if you can't get in contact with me then, you probably won't be able to get in touch with me for the money, so it's best to try that ahead of time.
(edit) you must use the patched 1.2 version of fs2.
