First thing I'm going to try is using the 1.3.2 update installer to downgrade my existing files.. Doubt it will work but hey, worth a shot.

When that probably fails, I'll grab the 1.0 files from my disc and use it to upgrade there.

By the way, can I just ask one question about infinite ammo? The videos I have seen that explain it state you must have a full inventory.. however, in the run I was watching ProfBro do last night, his inventory was not full, he simply swapped from valdof -> weapon -> vladof -> weapon and had unlimited ammo. So what's the actual process? (given I can't test it on 1.4)

Yeah the method i made doesn't require a full inventory you simply need to

Load the game ,  Fire one shot from the vladof , Switch out then back in to the vladof , allow the vladof ammo counter to appear then repeat.

It adds -1 ammo each time you do it so if you weapon uses 4 ammo per shot switch out the vladof 4 times to get -4 ammo consumption. or 5 times if you want to add 1 ammo to your stock each shot.

Edit: if you miss the first one and accidently fire the free rocket you need to fire twice more to get the next free shot [its pre determined so once you know it your good]

Okay, so I just downloaded a fresh copy of 1.0 and used a standalone patch to go to 1.3.2. Unfortunately, however, I can't choose Mechro as a character.. is there a flag somewhere in the save file I need to change for that?

e: so by using the standalone patcher i've corrupted my actual steam-copy of BL2... great! -_- maybe i'll just run on 1.0 with no mechro. *shrug*

I could save about a few minutes by not dying against Whilelm (i fought it at the end like i had law and order -_-) and by killing that repair surveyor before killing the other loeader just before Hero's Pass.
A sub 4 is definitely doable if you s&q during the game (derpish almost had one)

I had a great luck finding a 450k corrosive damage tediore RL which helped me a lot during constructor fights at 1000 cuts.

Hazdogga, I had the same issue with my standalone copy when I tried it.  Re-install the steam copy and verify the game cache and you should be functional. I'm going to get a torrent or dropbox up for the files here as soon as I can.  That will be best anyway, so we can a distribute a patch that won't corrupt things.

Oh man, I can't believe so much work has been done on this game. In playing Bl2 casually I started picking up lots of speed tricks and useful strategies, to the point where I started wondering about doing a real speedrun...with all this, now I have no idea where to start!

Since you guys already have runs in the works, I think for now I might just watch your attempts and contribute what tricks I know that aren't there, if any. And, more importantly, learn some things. I'm solid on gameplay, tricks, etc., but I am lacking much of a route.

Hi all,

Long time watcher (lurker), big time fan.

Until recently I've been running casual (i.e. not recording) runs inspired by all of your hard work, but I made the mistake of updating without taking a backup.
Anyway, since then I've acquired a friends copy of the steam folder pre-patch and tried it. Long story short, it didn't work.
Not sure whether it's due to the fact that it's not originally from my machine but I've experimented back and forth and no success.
If anyone here has tried to restore from a foreign backup I'd love to hear about how it went.

ps. here are some more details for the interested:

I've tried at least the following:
* rename original folder, drop in the backup
* copy/paste the backup over the original
* only replace the files that were changed in the update
* start game from within steam with and without launcher (using launch flags)
* start game directly from binaries via launcher and not
* all of the above with and without my original save data

In all cases the launcher loads fine, but game itself insta-crashes (or doesn't load, in any case no splash screen or anything).

then aproach Thresher boss from the other side by eneting this area from the second exit,
one that is normally used when leaving after defeating this boss.

should be of better value when doing glitchless or when failed to kill the loader
that disables the drawbridge or when dont want to risk going through factory section.
in The Higlands, near entrance, there is a cach-a-ride station.

EDIT:
just an idea for speedrunning DLC campaigns:
* start character level same as 1st story mission
* empty inventory and 0 cash

unfortunatelly will have to revert to old save if restarting.

What enemy levels do the DLC's start at I'm yet to play any DLC'S but I know borderlands1 the dlcs were set that you played them After your first main game play through.

Sorry if that seems a stupid question I don't know anything aside from main game but yeah the first time you can jump to dlc is in liarsberg after restoring power so the run itself would NEED to include the gameplay before warping..... Around 11-13 mins

Edit: meaning that save restoring would be pointless as it makes it segmented instead of single segment

Each DLC has different lvls in play through 1

Pretty sure the first two are lvl 15 (Mr. Torque and Scarlet)

and the third (Big Game Hunt) is lvl 30

Recommended level (in game) for first mission in each of 3 DLC campaigns:
* Pirates Booty DLC: Level 15
* Campaign of Carnage DLC: Level 15
* Big Game Hunt DLC: Level 30
(checked in the game)

each dlc has its initial location that player can travel to to initialize it's story missions.
can fast-travel to it from any FT station, and first one is soon enough in Claptrap's place.

game uses some kind of mission level scalling, since if player level is higher, then mission is set to that level.

Question: Would using SSD/RAMDisk on the PC version save a significant amount just by reducing load times? I mean, there's a loading screen between every major location AND each time you save/quit/load again.

only as far as Real Time Attack runs are concerned which ultimately refer to the In Game Timer anyway for the final game time, so if you want to put it on a SSD to reduce loading times go ahead, however it will NOT effect your Submit-able time only your RTA time.

we only really use RTA as a guideline to see how a run is doing for example we know that 1:55:00 is a Very good time to have beaten Bloodwing if we are at 2:10:00 for example at this point most likely the run would get reset.

Also Loading screens between maps are not added to the In Game Timer as it only runs while your character is in the world.  (i do have segments where for some reason the loading screen has gone on for 2 -3 seconds longer and the segment time is the same with the exact same game-play)

hey im from the netherlands and i want to run borderlands 2.
i dont have an way to stream/capture the run though so it would be nice if some one had that aswell as want to run that with me(my PC is also to bad for streaming anyways).
if your from netherlands we obviously talk dutch but any other country we talk english.

i play on the Xbox360 and i have every DLC so if anyone wants to run with me send me an PM and ill reply with my GT.

if you dont have an route yet we can start routing the entire game(also need to learn the glitches so if anyone is intrested in running with me also want to learn the glitches with me?

@Darkdyllon I suggest subscribing to www.twitch.tv/professorbroman ,www.twitch.tv/Vortale and  www.twitch.tv/Chfou if you ask people in the chat while they are streaming I'm sure some people will want to play with you as the community for this game is very friendly.

As for routing everything has already been planned out and again I would suggest watching the above streams to learn the route as for glitches they are pretty much all on this page or you can use my YouTube channel to find NEARLY everything.

yeah i was on professorbroman's stream the other day and asked there if someone was intrested in learning the game to run in co-op.
but im on the Xbox360 so we cant downgrade our versions for some of the ''better'' glitches which also sucks as they sayt its gonna take like alot longer withoud the infinite ammo glitch or the speed glitch.
but i gotta search some people out since the game is a little bit more forgiven with lag then borderlands 1 was.
in borderlands 1 i would get an input lag of 2-3 seconds if i would connect from netherlands to either canada or amerika.
in borderlands 2 i just get a slight delay in shooting and picking up items but running jumping etc is stil working fine.

but ima go ahead and follow these guys to increase the chance of finding someone that wants to run with me:D

- Start at lvl 61
- Start with Lascaux (any kind)
- No shield, class mod, grenade mod, relic

So I know we may not have gotten along with each other very well at the start but I want to put that aside and get back into running BL2, both in UVHM and possibly the vanilla. Sorry we have had issues in the past but hopefully we can look past that move on to what this about, beating the game quickly.

yes both Krieg and Gaige are allowed in UVHM

NG+, Yes the use of echo recorders is allowed however the whole reason that NG+ has not been done is that you need to legitimately grind your BAR to get you something like 10,000% on everything NO Modification of any game files or save files. (at this point Rocket Jumps become available)
