Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg

Hey guys! I was talking about speedrunning Billy Hatcher in the IRC chat of AGDQ, and signed up for an account so I could talk to you guys about it~

Somebody mentioned the TAS run that was on it's way, and noticed that you've got a bunch of shortcuts and route info already up here. Regarding that - if I were to think of doing a single-segment (maybe multi-) run that wasn't TAS, would you guys still be up for seeing it? Hatcher's one of my favourite GC games and I still feel it's underrated to this day, so I'd love to give it some justice <3

Some of those skips... impressive doesn't quite cover it! Trying to practise them myself and they're not turning out quite as well. How did you get some of those down to a fine art? I can't figure the Sand Ruins torch skip out for the life of me.

1:12:xx is probably my limit. I'm definitely taking a break once I get around 1:13:30 (Maybe submit to SDA?). Getting 1:12 would involve getting good luck in handful of levels, like the hatch the Elder levels, Circus Park 2 (Funhouse), and the final level with shadow crow patterns.

Like I thought, a really low 1:13 or a 1:12:5x is the best I can do with my current level routes. 1:11 is possible by using routes based around good (perfect in a few levels) luck, and getting said luck, of course. I think 1:12 is good enough for me right now.

Just wanted to talk on here, since there seems to be a few Billy runners I haven't come in to contact with: Since I'm running it on PC and I haven't had issues with 60 fps, is it cool if I run it in that? 30 fps is just jarring since I've gotten used to 60 fps, but I'd be cool scaling it down to 30 if I need to.

If it affects the physics I guess it would be a different category.

Yo, that route is pretty solid. There's a few things I'd like to comment on, tho:

Not doing all of blizzard in one go loses some time on the menu since you have to navigate back to it. It's not anything big, only around a second.

Forest 4 is a very slow level. It takes 2 mins! Forest 5 is ok, but having to go through 4 to get to it makes it not worth.

You unlock Bantam after blizzard 4. Why not do his levels, Dino 8 and Sand Ruin 8? both take around 1 min, and you don't have to beat any levels besides blizzard 4 to unlock them.
