B: BC2 or CoD: MW2?
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (8)
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (3)
My picture looks weird on here..so...
When MW2 came out and I first played it I thought it was great..fun shooting things, an addicting leveling system..lots of weapons..seemed great......
Until I played it more...

Slowly, things started going wrong...

"That guy killed me with dual shotguns ten times in one match......oh well..maybe he's just a really good......wow..someone killed me two seconds after I spawned right in front of him......well..maybe it was just a one time glitch/coincidence........how long has that guy with the SMG been sitting there behind that door?.........wait a minute...THIS GAME IS BROKEN!"

never have I been so addicted to a game that was so..incomplete...the weapons are unbalanced it was a game made for camping and it has THE most broken spawn system I have EVER seen...

Note: If anyone likes this game I'm not here to start an argument or to offend anyone...this is my opinion and if someone doesn't agree with it then that's fine, I don't expect everyone to agree with me.

Yet, I kept playing it...I liked leveling up..I liked the weapons..the perks... (BTW, Marathon + Lightweight + Commando = Fail) But I always hated it...especially the botters and hackers, the boosters, campers, cheaters..all of them completely ruined the experience..

Now..enter the saving grace, Bad Company 2..
When I first read the review in Game Informer my heart literally sped up at the words "DICE declares war on Infinity Ward"
So..I bought the game..
And I will never play MW2 again after experiencing the rush of being on a squad, taking over an objective with enemies pressing on your position..everyone communicating to survive and defeat the impossible odds..
Just about everything in this game is breathtaking, from the sounds to the environments..watching a three story building collapse into rubble over an enemy squad..I have never experienced an Online Shooter experience such as this..

Now, this game does have one flaw that I have problems with..and that's the fact that without a squad..oreven a squad that doesn't communicate, it's near impossible to succeed against an opposing squad..teamwork is THE KEY to winning every match..to the point that in one game my team had the top four players..not the best player, the FOUR best players, but we still lost..because we didn't have a functioning squad..

This just proves how important teamwork is..the better a team communicates and supports each other, the better their chances of winning.

Now..this is not to start arguments or hate wars..I simply want everyone to say which they prefer and why, without being hateful, rude, or immature.

If you only have one or the other then tell us if you like it or not, why, and if you plan on trying out the other game any time soon.

i don't play online but i'd take bc2 any day.
As someone who has logged over 8 days into BF:BC 1 and is now trying to switch to MW2, I know the feeling.
I have difficulty talking about MW2 without going into a couple of paragraphs about how fucking bad P2P is and what a bunch of douchebags they are for trying to kill the dedicated server community.
I r run gudder!
You know... I had high hopes for BC2 and I am being let down majorly by EA right now...

They restart the stat servers at least 5 times a day which means you get booted out of your dedicated server (they cant run with the EA servers down even from an outside host), you lose all XP you had gained so far in that game, and you may get CTD's.

Now... I am all for having the game run smooth, or having downtime. But why can't they do a "Hey everyone, we will take the servers down at midnight so when you are all sleeping, we can fix the issues!" But no... they are doing "It is 3pm on a saturday and every server is full. Watch this! *Yoink* HAHAHAHA You just took down the entire game, that is so fun! Let me try!"

Seriously.... why take the servers down for an hour during near peak hours on a weekend just because and with no warning? EA has got an EGO just like Activision Blizzard does. I see the big FPS franchises dieing because of Corporate suits who have no connection with the game except what money they make on the bottom line. Infinity Ward was defiant with was AB wanted to do with the Modern Warfare franchise and they fired the CEO and Director because of it. Now Infinity Ward has been broken apart, renamed, and said to be "releasing a new CoD game every year". Just waiting on this to happen with EA and Dice... It will become like the 2K Sports games with a new one every year... I liked MW2, but MW2011 and MW2012 were my favorites so far....

I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
I do that all the time at my job and say fuck the customers, Im fixing shit and doing it right now is sooner than at midnight and as a plus I get to sleep, also I forget to put the disclaimers when Im doing any kind of maintenance (although if I didn't the damned disclaimer would be up almost every day so its the same thing). The bosses do actually get pissed when I do and an angry customer calls. So when I get that done to me I have to bite my tongue Tongue

Wiping out your stats sounds a bit too much though, but when its downtime think that if they wait for midnight it is not midnight somewhere else, and that person or group of devs would have to stay awake, and that isn't cool when you have to do several days a week. Why stay awake? because they have to test their fixes, and most likely the first fix wont work, so from the point they start it may take an extra while. All in all you wouldn't expect that from a big company with good reason but from your complaint it seems they work like that
Waiting hurts my soul...
Honestly, the coupled with the stats resetting, the sudden down time sounds like exploit fixing.
I r run gudder!
Ive not seen or heard of any exploits as of yet. I mean I know you can climb on basically everything unless you go outside the maps boundaries which in that case you die in 15sec... But they have to expect to have problems and have long nights during the first week after launch. Especially if they are going to control everything like IW did with MW2.... I guess at least we know that EA is taking proactive approaches to problems and not reactive.
When I played Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2(Campaign). I started to think I was playing Bad Company 2 and how much I wanted to break down a wall or a very hard cover.  Cry

That is all.
Waiting hurts my soul...
Bad Company 2 is the deal of the day on Amazon for anyone that was considering getting the game. 22% off for console and 26% off for PC.

A lot of people over on Digg are badmouthing MW2 because of the DLC pricetag of $15 for 5 new maps.
So this is the second instance today that I've run into a MW2 v. BC2 debate.

For me, I like being a lone wolf who can win a team game singlehandedly. That is why I prefer MW2.
Plus, no other game out there can compete with the presentation and graphics in MW2.
BC2 and MAG seem backward in the sense that every time I kill someone, it feels like I killed someone in COD4.
But when I kill someone in MW2, I get this huge sense of satisfaction that I don't get from other games.
That's because hit registry is unreliable thanks to an intentionally-hamstringed netplay standard. It feels like you worked harder to make the kill because you actually had to.
It seems to be really dependent upon what you want from the game. The more mainstream needs (graphics, arcadey gameplay, etc) are well-handled with MW2, but the more tactical gameplay, easy-to-learn but tough-to-master type thing seems far more in tune with the development of BC2.

I was railing against BC1 because of the abhorrent hitboxes, but that seems to have been rectified in BC2. The only real problem I have with it is the lack of prone. It sucks, period.

One thing sums up the difference between them, imo. As a sniper in MW2, you aim down your sights, noting the excellent use of lighting, dynamic shadows and normal mapping. You aim directly at the domepiece of the sniper 3 miles away from you and boom, headshot. As a recon unit in BC2, you aim at the slightly-outdated looking assault unit 500 yards away, and then adjust your aim to a couple feet over his head to make up for gravity, and boom, headshot.

As an aside, I don't mean to ruffle any feathers with the "mainstream" comment. I am not implying that only mainstream gamers like that style, or whatever, I am merely pointing out that those are the goals of AAA projects, because they cater to the largest market share.

Also, in before "tl;dr"
