Who's Making That Noise? Oh, it's me... >_>
Cause I already have the Doom & Doom II runs, and now I want to get the Final Doom runs...
Thread title:

Wait a minute, final doom runs? Whaddya mean? =o
Who's Making That Noise? Oh, it's me... >_>
............................you've got to be kidding me...

Final Doom... The Plutonia Experiment... Evilution (TNT)... those 64 levels.... are there ever gonna be speedruns for them?....
Never give up!
I'm not sure whether poCari is joking or not, but I'd say there's a 65% chance he was joking when he acted like he didn't know.

But I digress.  I don't have Final Doom (that's the only Doom game I DON'T have), so I couldn't do the runs myself, and I don't know anyone who actually does have it.  GLO3, do you have Final Doom?  Because if you do, you could try to run those episodes yourself.  I know I'd watch them if you did.
Who's Making That Noise? Oh, it's me... >_>
I do have Final Doom, but the thing is, I'm not a huge computer nerd nor am I rich. So I don't have programs on my computer to record my runs to an .avi format. The best I can do is record .lmps of my runs.
Who's Making That Noise? Oh, it's me... >_>
Also, I really only have two runs I'm proud of. Those are the Secret Exit in Dead Zone, and the Regular Exit in Dead Zone. Everything else I completely suck at.

Hehe Tongue

I'd watch Final Doom runs. I don't have Final Doom myself, but if I did I would run them. Not sure if they have any of these over at Compet-N, but it's highly probable..... crazy Doom bastards.

And you don't need to be a computer nerd/rich to record things on your computer. Download FRAPs or Camtasia and you're good to go. Depends if you have Final Doom in OpenGL. Then you could record them straight to .avi. Oh and people don't like double posts unless they're extremely useful. Modify button is there Wink
Who's Making That Noise? Oh, it's me... >_>
You see that '8' next to 'Posts'? That means I don't hang here a lot... so I have no clue what anything does...
I have Final Doom, but I'm not sure I have the skills to speedrun it. I can beat both games on Ultra Violence including all the secret levels, but it took me more than 8 months to do it. I may be able to do a few individual level runs on Ultra Violence, but don't expect a full-game Nightmare run from me anytime soon.

Apparently... NONE OF YOU HAS EVER BEEN TO COMPET-N. GO THERE, AND ALL YOUR WONDERFUL PROBLEMS WILL BE ANSWERED! http://www.doom2.net/~compet-n/index.cgi

PS - Ok, a little loud, I know, but if you go there and to the database, you can download movies for every level of Final Doom. The catch? You have to own Final Doom because they are demo files.

OK, In case you didn't get the point... I wanted to see speedruns on SDA. Not anywhere else. I'm wondering when the .avi files are gonna show up for Final Doom. Not .lmps...

I am sure Radix could upload them, since they ARE legit, but it would be too time consuming. There are several hundred records out there on Compet-N, and all of them in .lmp format, and they will stay that way. I am sure if I had a good reason, I would convert them to .avi, but I don't, because I own the game.

EDIT - Now that I think about it, if you guys REALLY want me to, I can take all the records, put them into full episodes (since they go map by map), convert them into AVI and submit them to Radix, for easy uploading. Oh, and by the way, you can get the full retail version of Fraps for free, just PM me for more info.

EDIT EDIT - Also, there are several different "modes" that are run:
Speed - Getting to the exit as fast as possible.
Max - Getting all the secret areas and killing every enemy.
NM - Nightmare runs.
Tyson - Only the fists, chainsaw and pistol are allowed.
Passive - No killing anything.
The list goes on, they are really interesting to watch, especially if you are a big fan of Doom.
Who's Making That Noise? Oh, it's me... >_>
You would need to get the speed ones. On top of that, they would need to actually BE speedruns... not just the best run by amateurs. And, those .lmps de-sync on my copy of Final Doom (Doom95 @_@)
The man made of sticks
If you're going to convert them, be aware that the tables are out of date and are probably not likely to be updated again for a long time.  Some faster runs currently reside in the incoming directory:

ftp://competn.doom2.net:8002/incoming/compet-n/

I originally planned to go through the levels and improve the speed runs a bit, then convert them to avi.  I don't have the time to be meddling with that for now, though.
PwNzRd!
These are the fastest Doom times I know of, and I know of the incoming runs that top the old times. It would be a rough doin' but if you guys are interested, I will make them. It would also be worth watching the Tyson or Max runs as well, as they are quite entertaining.

After all my projects are done, I'm so getting back into Doom =o
Who's Making That Noise? Oh, it's me... >_>
I'd like to watch those ones but I'm 99.9% sure they'd de-sync w/ Doom95...
PwNzRd!
That's why I am 99.9% sure not to use Doom 95. I am trying to get it to work with Doom Legacy, but it will take time.
I just downloaded a full-game Ultra-Violence Max run for the Plutonia Experiment from Compet-N, and it worked with Doom95 just fine.

EDIT: At level 3, it starts de-synching.
Who's Making That Noise? Oh, it's me... >_>
Which is exactly what I based my post off of...
PwNzRd!
If I could make it work with Doom Legacy, it would be the shit, but I have to make sure the controls are EXACTLY like the ones used in the demo otherwise he runs into walls and shoots air, and despite the entertainment of it, he gets nowhere and usually dies.
I just did a little experimenting, and I found out that the .lmp files on Compet-N work pefectly with a Doom program called PrBoom (http://prboom.sourceforge.net/).
PwNzRd!
Thanks for the info. this should really help.
