I've been thinking about doing a run of one of these after I'm done with my MMX 2 run. I'm basically wondering which one people would like to see more, and if anybody has any plans to do either of these?
Thread title:
100% runs=great to watch
Personally, I'd like to see Alien Hominid since it would expand theSDA variety aspect.  More or better Metal Slug action can NEVER be a bad thing though....so long as it doesn't harm the runner...

Never give up!
If the HD version of Alien Hominid has the exact same levels as the normal versions, I say Alien Hominid.  If not, I say Metal Slug 6.

I believe the former should be done in individual-level style - because the entire game is nearly impossible to beat on one life and still very difficult to do on one continue, and because I think your gun and grenades (the key stats - life count and score don't reset at all) are reset between levels (so no advantages would be conferred to a full-game run).  I will say that I think the best gun to use is the pink 'machine gun' weapon, although I'll have to reinvestigate all the others.  Oh, and forget about your grenades - unlike the Metal Slug series, your grenades in Alien Hominid suck.

For Metal Slug 6, a full run is probably the better option.  Maybe Mike or Groobo can help more with advice there, I dunno.

Yeah the HD (360) version is exactly the same, just with better graphics. You're probably right about AH, it's nearly impossible (mainly due to randomness) to beat even one act without losing a life. Maybe someone else could help out with individual levels?

As for Metal Slug 6, it would obviously be done on hard mode. First because you can't finish the game on easy and secondly because easy is for chumps. However, I'm not so sure on which character to pick so maybe Mike could point me in the right direction there.
My feelings on The Demon Rush
Pick either Eri or Fio.

Eri gets double grenades, and can throw them in 8 directions.

Fio starts off with a heavy machine gun and gets 1.5 times the ammo.

I think Eri would be faster, but Fio would have an advantage in the final stage (not sure).

I'm actually considering Tarma, mainly because of the final boss, the digging part, and the various slugs scattered throughout the game. I like Marco, but he's not very good for a speedrun. As for the other two guys, I don't think they're that great anyway.

If I actually end up doing this I'll test out Eri, Fio, and Tarma to see who works best.

Edit: Metal Slug 6 might be too hardcore for me, Alien Hominid is looking pretty good right now though.

The problem with MS6 is that you can't practice it like the others because there's no rom for it as far as I know, and the save anywhere feature is only present in the psp version of anthology (we're talking about anthology, right?). There's one fight at the start of stage 4 (the bridge) which looks pretty much impossible, not to mention the last boss.

As for AH, I was working on a ss run for it and could do pretty well. I had two one life attempts that went all the way to the last boss. My only suggestion for ILs would be luck manipulating weapons. Every boss is weak against different weapon types, so there's no particular weapon that's the best choice against every boss fight. You'll have to experiment yourself. Good luck :).

I use the Wii version of anthology, and there is a save anywhere feature, so it is possible to practice one level over and over. The fight at the bridge in level 4 is really annoying, but I think it's possible if you use the grenades and super grenades that you pick up earlier in the level. I don't really like the level 4 boss either, but that's just a matter of practice.

As for AH, I still have to get used to that game again, so I don't think I'll be attempting any runs for awhile. What difficulty were you playing on in AH btw?
Obey the Daleks or be Exterminated! Riiiiiiight...
I thought Mission 3's boss was the speedrun killer.  To this day, I haven't seen a video of someone beating that overgrown brained robot without dying.  Mission 4's boss is just as bad.

Yeah, you're right about the Mission 3 boss, the best I've managed is one death.

The easiest IIRC.

As for the 3rd boss in MS6, it's WAY easier to survive when you're not in the slug that they give you before the fight.

I thought ThumbSucker (TS) would only last up to level 1-2 or level 1-3, unless you mean Easy difficulty (as in the difficulty after ThumbSucker), in which case Easy is the entire game.

I'm pretty sure he meant easy.
Speedwalks are lame. Run it!
Personally, I'm more interested in an Alien Hominid run.
Complete. Global. Saturation.
Alien Hominid for sure.
