spread the dirt to the populace
lmfao this is all so fucking rich coming from the people who performed ALTERNATIVE BEAST live

that sure wasn't gimmicky or detracting from the game at all no sirs
train kept rollin
A detraction from that game is no real loss.
.
to be fair, that was requested by the viewers, not pre-planned.

like, there were donations and everything.
spread the dirt to the populace
the loss was having to hear a meme-spouting self-insertion fanfic.  and this was not a minority opinion

the donors from within the circlejerk do not constitute a majority
.
would you also say pianotoads was gimmicky and detracted from the game?

just curious.

Alternative Beast was also relatively short.
spread the dirt to the populace
no because kareshi is actually skilled at what he does and it's enjoyable

5-10 minutes of GBS-level humor is not

well alright then.

alternative beast was definitely not for everyone. i wasn't getting a good read on the crowd but a lot of the people talking in the chat seemed to find it funny. altered beast is a pretty boring game without a gimmick imo.

anyways on the withhelde thing i find it very hard to believe that the commentary will be a good watch for people on the stream if they have to focus both on reading a whiteboard and watching the game. not to mention that there might be some resolution issues with reading the whiteboard in the first place. it's much easier to just zone out watching the game while listening to the commentators talk than to constantly watch both feeds at once, imo.

so if you could talk that'd work better than the whiteboard.

when i watch a movie i dont wanna read words too!!!!!!!!!!!

actually that is a good question.  i seem to recall a lot of ppl paying attention to both streams and bringing up the funny stuff from commentary stream so i didnt think the idea would be that big a problem.  idk

if you wanna be rich, then you've got to be a bitch.

i don't really think that this is a good idea.
.
i'd say it was more like watching a movie while reading a book about the movie. :B

thing is, when things like perlers and drawings were shown on camera they had to be held right up against it so people could actually see what was going on. idk how the whiteboard will be honestly.

Well, we're going to try a higher resolution on the webcam this time, but I doubt we'll be able to go past 640x480 just for screen space on the stream, so eh. This is one of those things I won't be able to figure out until the day before.
I'm not your buddy, guay!
Cosmo mentioned I being on the couch to commentate his run; and then he being on the couch to commentate mine.

Crawlathon WR, get down on my level.
Frankly, any sort of writing for the commentary I just don't see working for a number of reasons:

1. If you write anything on a whiteboard, even at 640x480, you're going to be hard pressed to read it in the room.
2. If you write on a whiteboard or similar, you are not going to be able to keep up with the pace of most games. Commentating on something that happened 30 seconds ago doesn't work.
3. If the webcam has to be aimed at a whiteboard and crap, that's setup time, and it detracts from those others on the couch (they don't get their fair time in the sun).
4. You can't hold a meaningful dialog with others on the couch if you're typing it out afterwards.

Frankly again, only a legitimate disability would be an excuse to do something with this situation, and even then I would say it should be confined to just one run (the SMRPG one, which since it's a long game, would be acceptable for any required setup time). If this is the problem, Withhelde should be in contact with Uyama about this and trying to make it happen privately. The fact that Withhelde has thus far seemed to avoid admitting to any sort of disability (and I'm not saying we need details, just the fact that there is a disability responsible) seems... suspicious and too drama for this stream.

I have a physical disability, and I've been working around it for months now in planning. I'm not making a problem out of it, and I'm not putting undue burden on the community to handle it. I know what my limits are, and I have taken special care not to take on any responsibilities that I am not capable of performing. If there's a disability at play here, the mere idea of keeping it secret seems ridiculous. You're going live, on air, in front of thousands of people. If you're embarrassed or ashamed or otherwise about a disability, you need to either get over it or not go. Note that I am not judging about this, I am simply saying this for your benefit, Withhelde. The absolute worst thing would be to have some traumatic event during the stream because of this.

Thinker & Dreamer
I don't understand why there's going to be a burden, if it doesn't work out, it doesn't work. People seem to misunderstanding that I'm just going to spam smiles or something like that.

All I want is to try to talk about the games I know the best way I can in a manner I fell I can; I really did not mean for this and sorry for it to become like the way it did and for people to act this way. There's me just being gimmicky and me trying do something I would like to do for everyone and myself.
Okay, got it, you have a problem and you'd rather not talk about it. You should take it up with Mike in PMs and hopefully we can find a workable solution.

Until then though, can we disperse with the bullshit? This thread sucks.

My feelings on The Demon Rush
Okay I talked to withhelde over PM and everything has been settled, he'll be doing commentary for SMRPG and Kid Chameleon. I also added Cosmo, Runnerguy2489, and Zachsk to the commentary they requested.

EDIT: J is dropping NG2. I'm going to try and see if I can pick it up, but if someone else wants to try, they're welcome.
My feelings on The Demon Rush
I dropped NG2 from the schedule because I'd rather focus on the games I already have and refine those.

Even if I did focus on NG2 more, I probably wouldn't be able to practice recovering from deaths very well, and that's not a good thing considering how easy it is to die if you screw up a damage boost. NG2 is a fairly short game, so I could probably re-add it to the schedule if someone picked it up ASAP.
Claimh Happy
Any plans to replace it?
My feelings on The Demon Rush
Not really, it's a very short game.
