What's a barometer? It pronounce thermometer!
sorry if i violate any rules for starting such a compulsive new thread.
But I do not own an X Box (and not planning on owning one)
but I heard that Ninja Gaiden is such a phenomenal game.

How come there is still no complete run of it yet?

And what about good graphic version of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater?

Am I the only one who feel like those movies are long overdue? Or is it just not best games to do speed run.
And what about Doom 3?

I'm just curious, cuz those games i thought would get the same treatment of RE4 and Grand Theft Auto San An...something. Which had speedrun out the very same week it came out (if I remember correctly)
Thread title:

this might seem obvious, but speed runs don't just magically appear on the servers waiting for you to download. Someone has to invest a lot of time and work into creating them.

It's not up to this site's maintainers to decide what speedruns should be done next, the players decide what games they run. And someone who wants to do a speedrun usually doesn't choose the game based on what speedruns are available - players usually pick games they're good at and enjoy playing.
If a game still lacks a speedrun, the blatantly obvious cause is that nobody had the motivation to do one yet (or hasn't finished the run for whatever reasons)

Asking for someone to do it won't change anything, your viewing preferences are hardly any motivation at all for someone to do a speedrun.
If you really want a speedrun done, you'll have to do it yourself. Lack of X-Box isn't really an excuse, others have spent much more money on hardware, games or capturing devices to get a speedrun done.

Oh, and additional information about doom 3 and ninja gaiden can be found by using the search function. Additional information about the release dates of GTA SA on PC and PS2 can probably be googled.

I was just whining. I know how speed run works.
(and don't act like my request was the first one ever on this board. geez)

Anyway, new run of Metal Gear 3 is up. So I guess that's one run answered.

I just thought it was strange that nobody did a run of Ninja Gaiden yet since it was such a popular game. Kill me for wondering why don't  ya?

Okay, I have it, and I COULD film it, but you know why I wont. 2 reasons.

Controller delay when recording, odd reason, but untill I get a external tv-out card, dont expect one.

Its hard...seriously, and I doubt enough people would want to bother doing so, the game can be so frustrating and believe me, some of the bosses will bring your perfect game time to its knee's (eg. Alma...*shudder)

As tub said, its a difficult process and require time and money.
MarioKart64.com biotch!
It gets annoying when all these people question the world about why a game is not done. Shouldn't this be posted in the suggestions forum?

no Patricia  Smiley

If you go to the suggestion forum, and then this forum, you will see that most of the request for runs are posted here. And the suggestion forum is mostly about the site.

Of course, my post is the only one that get ridicule. For some odd reason.

I can tell you what annoy me about your post. But several years ago my parents taught me this little thing call manners and not to try and piss off people you don't know.

So there you go.
Ugh...No offence, but it's obvious that you're new here...aside the post count, of course.

You see, a "good game" doesn't meen "SPEED RUN IT, DAMINT! D: D: D: D:!!!". It can take months too make a speed run of a single simple game, whether is was "good" or not. Only time will tell if there will EVER be a speed run of game "X".

Besides that, although you claim that your parents "told you how ot be polite to strangers", you seem as if you're demanding the run of that game. Just the fact that you typed in that "those runs are long overdue"  shows that you have no patience or sense of speed running (sorta). Just think of all those incredibly old (10 years is incredibly old for gaming) that a run was made of them just lately.

Making a request is fine, or at least, most people here don't care and you won't get called out for it.  On the other hand, going further and saying that someone should have invested his valuable time into making one (and, following, that we're failing in a 'duty' of sorts since we haven't)... if you understand manners, I'm sure you see where you misstepped.

You're guaranteed to get this sort of reply if you do that.  Most requesters don't imply that.. that's why their posts are ignored. Tongue

I know it's obivous, but Leon just copied Maur's post and added "or her"

Just so that there aren't any misunderstandings/complaints later.

Thats right you can't jump to conclusions, my MGS3 run is onlne now, but i completed it weeks ago. You have to understand hat some people have limitations and therefore it can take longer for a run to come online. Just posting the video tape takes two weeks, and then they the verifiers, transferers and radix, have to spend there valuable time for no utter reason to put the runs online. I mean they don't have to.

when I said long overdue...

my god, do I sound like (or did you guys think I want to sound like) some crazy punk guy who demand the speedrun of those games... or else?

I'm a tiny little Asian person. What do you want from me?

I was just saying, like you know, how a friend say to one another "don't you find it strange that there are still no speed run of Ninja Gaiden after all this time?" I wasn't making a political statement or anything. I wasn't going "Wahhh! Why isn't there a speed run for this and that? I DEMAND TO KNOW THE ANSWER!"

I re-read my original post over and over. And I don't see how I sounded like this guy who doesn't think speed run take time and effort.

Do I need to say thank the people who did runs for their hard work everytime I want to make a request? I wasn't even making an official request. I was just saying, why isn't there speedrun for games like Ninja Gaiden. Respond should have been: May be not many people own Ninja Gaiden. Or Ninja Gaiden wasn't a good game for speed run. Whatever. Not. "YOU DO NOT KNOW HOW SPEED RUN WORKS! YOU SILLY PERSON! HOW DARE YOU REQUEST?? WAHHH!!"

Do I need to bow down to the speed run makers everytime I make a request?  I thought the fact that I appreciate the existence of the speedrun world is implied by me being here. Do I need to say that everytime I want to say something like I need to say "I support the troops" everytime I make an anti-war statement?

Are you sure you just not trying to make my original post *sound hostile in your head just so that you can make me a target of your bashing?

Forget it. I don't even want to see speed runs of those games that bad. If there is one game I want to see a speed run of real bad, that would be Kirby Dream Course. I was just raising the question as to why not many people attempt a speed run of popular games.

So your answer to my question: why isn't there a ninja gaiden run is: ... speed run aren't easy. And how dare you ask that question?

Does that make any sense to you?

Oh, and as far as my oirignal post being rude? If that is rude. Do yourself a favor and never go to New York City or Washington DC.
Tiberian Dawn Modder
actually to be honest after re-reading your post I have to agree with you, there wasnt a hostile/demanding tone used, just curiosity.

...but after many hours of playing...Ninja Gaiden isnt the type of game you would want to speed run, its just...how do I say...draining, especially if you want to get master ninja on every level.

And after playing through it on hard again, no one should have to fight alma on that difficulty...its just punishment.

Yes, you did, actually. 'long overdue' and 'how come there is still no complete run of it yet?'

>_<

If you wanted to say 'hey, the game is said to be great... is there any ingame reason why it hasn't been ran yet, is someone making one as I speak, or do you guys not want to?', then why didn't you just say that instead of throwing tons of implications in there?  You'd probably still get the 'speed runs aren't easy' line, but at least you'd avoid the argument. -_-

Whatever.  If you didn't mean what it appeared you meant, then why the crap are we arguing?
