Glad someone finally did this. Seeing how quick you got this run done, I must agree with Midori. I wish you the best of luck trying to improve your run and I can't wait to see the final product.

Thanks. Yeah, I tried to improve it, but to no avail. I've already sent the info in for the run, so you should be able to see the run soon. Also, I see you used to compete on TSC, so I can see why you'd be excited to watch the run.

Good to hear this :). I remember considering doing a run of this game but I found it way too random and frustrating to even attempt a SS. Oh, random thought, are you going to provide the run with audio comentary? Those make runs a bit more entertaining to watch

I thought of providing audio commentary, but I decided not to. I may do it if in the future if I improve the run. I may also do audio commentary for any other runs of other games that I happen to do. I agree though, it does add some extra awesomeness to the run.
Ah well, still can't wait to see it. Why did you decide not to do audio commentary?
I didn't think it was necessary really, as this was my first speedrun and I wanted to keep things a bit simpler. I also wrote about each stage and boss in my written comments quite a lot, so that just seemed like enough for this current run.
I want to bring this back up because I'm planning on doing a team sonic run soon. I have some vids of how I play on my youtube account (http://www.youtube.com/user/ShadowJacky). The most recent Sonic run I have up so far is Rail Canyon and as far as I know, it's the WR (even though I don't like to use the term so loosely)
So anyway, I need to practice the stages with them a bit more, but the reason I like them is because they are simple and fast.
Wow, it seems a lot more interest than I would have imagined has been shown about my speedrun! Anyway, I guess I should explain why I haven't gotten it done, and submitted it yet. Basically, I have had no access to video games at all the past month, and limited computer access too. I didn't have any time at all to do anything on the computer that involved more than an hour of my time, so I couldn't do much. Since November is almost here, I'll be able to get back on track and finally finish sending the run to nate, and maybe get the speedrun on the main site. I'm glad everyone is waiting for it!

Well, I guess I should update everyone and get everybody back on track with this speedrun and such. Although it was supposed to be done this month like I'd promised, there was one problem. My computer was having issues with keeping it on over the long periods of time to send the torrent, so I decided to wait until my family bought a brand new external hard drive to back it up, and other things we needed it for. Today, I recieved confirmation that it is in business. It is a 2 Terabyte one as well, so that is pretty cool. So, please continue to look forward to it, as I can feel the date drawing nearer for its release...
I've been practicing for a Team Sonic run and this is proving more troublesome than I thought. this is my 3rd attempt:
Seaside Hill-2:55:xx Ocean Palace-2:59:xx Egg Hawk-44:19 Grand Metro-2:46:81 Power Plant-4:57:53 Team 1-27:41 Casino Park-1:55:69 Bingo Highway-3:48:13 Robot Carnival-2:16:53 Rail Canyon-3:09:63 Bullet Station-4:14:13 Egg Albatross-51:96 Frog Forest-2:44:23 Lost Jungle-2:58:29 Team 2-16:04 Hang Castle-3:25:89 Mystic Mansion-4:21:18 Robot Storm-3:03:83 Egg Fleet-4:57:83 Final Fortress-3:58:61 Egg Emperor-1:50:23
full run-1:19:22 according to my new game save.
first two times, I just thought about writing them down for a reference for later attempts. also comparing these to the records at TSC (which I have most of them), I'm doing these without as many Team Blasts as I can. Still, these aren't good and I need to do better (not accounting any bull shit that will occur during this run). any questions or suggestions to make this better is appreciated.
Most of those times are actually really good. I'm looking forward to seeing this. Are there any specific trouble spots in the run or is it just the randomness screwing you over? Good luck with the coming attempts
even trying to reduce randomness, this game still managed to screw me over.
I thought I would record my session this time, but wow, this game won't let up at all. I started off really good till Power Plant where I messed up a bit, but I kept going. Casino Park went really well (1:55) then Bingo Highway and onward just gave me shit. Frog Forest and Lost Jungle were decent however, but even after those, just more problems occured. Final Fortress did it in for me, I just stopped as the stage just gave me crap after crap. Either I forgot what tiny methods I did to contend with these mishaps or this game likes to come up with even more ways to screw me over out of a good run.
I'll try a different approach tomorrow and see how things go, but some of these shortcuts are just really crappy to perform and even worse when you need a partner and they aren't anywhere to be found. Also to try and not die, but that's like winning the lottery.
this time, the good outweighed the bad and most of the mistakes were my doing. hopefully I get another good run in, but I want to put this up and see if anyone can give some advice. this is totally different for me since I'm used to ILs over at TSC.
