Never give up!
After reading the rules on what games are allowed, I had a question.

If a game has a unique shareware demo (Half-Life is a big example) rather than a demo that has levels taken from the full game, are runs of that shareware demo accepted here in addition to runs of the full version of the game?

Note: this question ONLY APPLIES to games with UNIQUE shareware episodes.  I am generally assuming runs of a shareware demo that only has levels from the full game will automatically be rejected.

oh yeah! That reminds me... How about a speed run of the Doom3 Alpha Demo? those levels are incredibly short. It would be funny to see though. I have a copy of the Alpha Demo on CD inside my case with the full version of the game  Tongue I think thats why there are 4 CD spaces but it only comes with 3 CDs  Grin

Oh, and sorry i don't have an answer to your question. It just reminded me of playin the Alpha Demo haha

Having anything "Alpha" On any game that wasn't free is pirated/stolen software.

How much trouble do you think this site would get into if you had a video of you playing an un-finished, stolen game?

Whoa whoa whoa, I didn't mean ILLEGAL demos!

Only unique demos that were publically released!
ouch!

yeah, I was joking  Cheesy
TIOLET!
As long as it's really unique levels I guess it would be fine. But then I mean REALLY unique, nothing in common with any level in the finished game (except enemies and weapons and such of course).

Yea... Ok.

I downloaded the Alphas, but never would have even mentioned trying to run them.. I also grabbed Doom 3 off the shelf the day of release.
ouch!
I KNOW!!! I think it was pretty crazy playing the Doom3 Demo a whole year before it was released, it really got me hyped up for the full version release!
