My feelings on The Demon Rush
Okay I updated the rooming list a bit. Feasel is alone in Quad 8 for now because he's a light sleeper. Speaking of quad 8, it's more of an extra quad for the first four days because I miscalculated a bit, sorry. We can just use it to ease up the crowding for the first four days.

Also, I went to the 4-H center yesterday to pay Boniene and get a tour of our rooms. I took pictures that you can see here here: http://mikwuyma.quandra.org/4-H/ There are no pictures of our sleeping rooms because they were all occupied when I visited.

I'm sorry about the resolution and filesize. I forgot to change my camera's settings before taking pictures. If you have any questions about the pictures, feel free to ask. And yes, our main room (it's called the Kentucky room) is biiiiiiiiiiiig.

Small overview:

Our building is the W.K. Kellogg Hall. It's a side building outside of the main one, and it was given to us because we will be the only people in the building until the 10th and the 11th, which means we won't disturb anyone during the curfew until possibly the tail end of our marathon. Cheesy

I also asked Boniene a bunch of questions while she gave me a tour, and below are her answers.

What info do I need for guests? Name and what days they're visiting. They don't have to be announced in advance, but it does help out the center, especially since that will save time making badges.

Is there a house cleaning schedule?Yes, the house cleaning replaces towels and other stuff, but doesn't make the beds. If we don't want housekeeping to disturb us while we're in our rooms because we'll have someone sleeping, then we can put a do not disturb sign on our doors, and just ask the front desk for towels and such.

Can the payment deadline be extended to December 6th? Yes! This makes it easier for me to transfer funds out of my Paypal account before the deadline, just in case if anyone cuts it close.

Is there laundry at the center? Yes, coin laundry. (I don't know how much it costs)

Can we get water in the conference rooms?Yes, a water station can be set up, and there are water fountains around the center. Also, the vending machine sodas are $1.50 for a 20 oz bottle. Not great, but not terrible either.

Can we have couches and comfortable chairs to make this marathon look like the last one? Yes, they'll give us couches and armchairs for the event. You can look here if you want to see one of the armchairs. None of the couches were available for viewing when I went there.

How many crt tvs (non-hd) does the center have? This one is kind of funny. When Boniene asked the manager about tvs, the manger said they have plenty, then went, "Wait, you mean non-hd tvs? I have no idea." In other words, Boniene will get back to me on this one.

How often do the metro buses run? About every 20 minutes, but they stop running into dc fairly early in the afternoon. If you need a bus ride back from DC, you should still be okay.

Is listing the number of cars important for the rooming list? Not really, this is more of a concern for the buses that transport school and travel groups in and out of the center. We'll get a parking lot that's no further than 100 feet away from our building

Breakdown: Arriving late at night isn't an issue because you won't be the one signing in for the room (I will). Someone in our room just has to let you in late at night. I think at most I'll have to notify security roughly when you're coming in (as in which night, not an exact time).

difficult and stupidly random
Ha ha.  No you shouldn't give me a room to myself.  It's really not a big deal.  You should redistribute some of the people from the 6-person rooms. Seriously.

Question about beds:  are they just bare mattresses (so we'd want to bring a sleeping bag / sheets / etc), or do the beds come with linens and crap already on them?  It's probably good to bring a sleeping bag either way, I'm just curious.
My feelings on The Demon Rush
They come with linens, but you might want to bring a sleeping bag anyway, just because there will only be four beds. And yeah, I'll start redistributing rooms once the time comes, Feasel.
We all scream for Eyes Cream
Quick question. I paid for 6 days and planning on arriving late on January 5th. Do I leave on the 10th(The 6th day), or can I stay till the 11th?
Fucking Weeaboo
You'd be leaving on the 11th if you paid for 6 days.  Think of it in hotel terms - you're paying for nights, not days.  So you stay on the nights of the 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th, and leave on the 11th.

Good to know. I'll be purchasing my ticket now then. Thanks again Sir VG. Smiley

Feasel: I'll rearrange the rooms later. I know I can fit at least 4 or 5 people in quads 7 and 8. Also, if you want to see a picture of what a room will look like, look at the virtual tour here: http://www.4hcenter.org/tour/index.html

Axel Ryman: Sir VG is correct, but you've only paid the deposit, I still need the rest of the money from you soon (by December 1st).

Okay I think everyone is covered in the rooming list. If I missed someone, then tell me who I missed.

Quad 2 inherits UraniumAnchor for the final day?  Life just keeps getting better and better.  <3
Little note:

I sleep on the floor in my home so I have no problem sleeping on the floor in a sleeping bag in my quad room.
My feelings on The Demon Rush
Oh yeah, I should probably tell people to bring sleeping bags, heh.
1-Up!
Does anybody have any experience with traveling by air with a sleeping bag?  Advice appreciated.

For that matter, also has anybody traveled by air with consoles?  I would think in a carry-on bag would be safer, but idk if that would cause issues going through security.  Again advice appreciated.

train kept rollin
I've read horror stories of people finding their 360 in peices after arriving at their destination due to it being searched, even after checking with the air line that it would be ok. Circuit boards probably look suspect on an xray I guess.

i would just take it in a backpack as a carry on. should be no problem.

Like Ark said, it's fine.  I do recommend, especially if you take your console in your luggage, that you put adequate padding on all sides (don't forget the top).  If you have a hard case, that's a plus.

X-ray will NOT harm your consoles or games, only high-exposure camera film (who has that?).
I am fine wherever. Put me in whatever quad you have to.
i should know very very soon whether i get winter term project or not

deadline to register is this friday and i just e-mailed professor

if i dont get it then i can stay for bonus stream + magfest.  buuuuut that might leave me out of that if not the entire marathon in future years...nothing else to do at this point though!
My feelings on The Demon Rush
Okay, I made a preliminary rooming list attached to this post. It's kind of messy, but trying to add and insert tables and rows does that. I can probably arrange the rooms a bit better, but this should be okay for now.

As you can see, I didn't put your ages down on the list, I just needed to know how old you all were to confirm everyone was an adult.

Josh: I just put you down as 5th-12th for now. If you manage to find some research, then just tell me, and I can change your stay dates easily.
spread the dirt to the populace
ok i am in for winter term!  just didnt get the chance to say it yesterday because i was in class or working on paper all day

so yeah im headin out on the 11th...but this means i shouldnt have to do anything at all for winter term my last year so i can do whatever then =)

e: wait who might not make it?  rom?  havent paid attention to IRC much lately but i hope romdad isnt erupting again...
Waiting hurts my soul...

That's a scary prospect. I suggest shipping consoles that don't fit into a carry-on rather than risk this. TSA screener, "This NES looks suspect. Who the heck has an NES these days."
