I'm interested because Pokémon Black and White RNGing mechanics (without C-gear and from the very start of the game) are abusable on the DS Phat and not the DSi/3DS series.

One of the hinges of my DS phat is a bit busted, will the mod still work?

Yes, you just open up the back of the DS Phat, take out the brown cable (screen connector), plug it into the capture board, and yet again plug the board's cable into the DS's board.
I think it's the best to ask Loopy (I'll email him to come over here, if there are more interested people).

Both of my DS Phat screens work totally fine.

The only broken part is just underneath below the top screen.

Do you have any idea what price point are we looking at for these?

I'd pick one up just for speedrunning pokemon pearl, and that would also open my horizons to other DS games that aren't as easy to record from a camera.

Another question. Is this an independent device, or does it require some other capture hardware as well? It doesn't affect me as I'll be buying a capture card in the near future anyway, but others may want to know this as well.

You'll need to have a DS Phat, though, since Lite works a lot different, it's harder to program for, and it has less space.

Unlike mine, this is a really small board you have to connect inside your DS Phat, without any soldering (it's a passthrough method).

Don't worry Yami, I thought it was a good idea to split the topic, this thread kept on changing topics slightly from Pre-3DS capture devices, then the 3DS add on and now the DS Phat Passthrough capture devices.

All of the recent DS original Capture Devices posts are in this link below.

On a side note, I've done some background preparation: I now I have a Flare Red 3DS I can use as a Capture Device.
I only hope Loopy didn't get to much off, since it's almost time for him to sell the DS Capture Device.

We don't want to interrupt Loopy much via email, so we don't sound like we're in a hurry, but I hope it's finished before December, as I really need the device for the upcoming Mario Kart 7, and Nintendo of The Netherlands only wants to loan out the Partner-CTR Capture to TV shows only, while we're not.
At least, that's what one of the PR's told me during Gamescom 2011.
In addition, she also said there are just 2 of them, of which one is for recording commercials, Trailers, etc., and the other one is for TV shows.

Also, I made some preparations on this device:
An additional 3DS: √
A new TV: √
A Windows 7 license: √ (for a longer time already, as it's also required for YH-NITRO-CAPTURE)
HDMI Cables: √
Solder tins: X (but I have a friend that works at a factory)

Now that I see how IGN and GameTrailers now can capture 3DS video footage, it makes my patience smaller, lol.
Note that I didn't include StreetPass Dubai, as he's using a whole camera setup + video editing tool.
