He's back!
I'm a little disapointed with the standard of the run. I'd like to ask Thiradell how many retries each segment roughly took. My personal assessment is that it didn't go beyond 6-7. There is too many mistakes especially early on in some segments which should have been instant restarts.
Mr. Twishall
Hey bro. Um I tried each segment probably 10-15 times, though I will admit I let some things slide 'cause I was excited to move on to the 100% run. Maybe you could point out a few specific examples of where you think I should have restarted, 'cause yeah there are some small mistakes here and there, but in segments 10+ minutes long there will always be small mistakes.

OK

Segment 1: Should have been an instant restart. You make two clumsy errors literally 2 and 3 seconds after you gain control. I know you would consider them minor but the segment is so short and uneventful that there really isn't anything you realistically should mess up.

Segment 2: Was fine, pretty damm impressive at some parts. Several errors which would have costed 30+ seconds overall. Personally I think you should have kept this segment as a backup if you were unable to improve it.

Segment 3: Why did you pick the green squid? Sure it's turning is far superior but at the cost of speed. At 6:20 I feel you should have restarted after failing the long sequence of wall kicks.

Segment 4: You grab too many ledges which costs time, you did that in other segments but it's excessive at the start of this segment. AT 3:55 you miss a jump which should have been a restart. A minor point on the sand bird, it's best to stand on it's neck when it turns sideways, it's much easier to stay on that way. The shines after the sand bird were pretty solid.

Segment 5: After falling off the pirate ship it should have been an instant restart. At 15:55 could of used a triple jump to wall kick and get to the shine more quickly in the obstacle course

Segment 6: A bit unfourtunate what happened in the worlds least profitable casino, I still think the frustration might have boiled over enought to cause a restart, all the other shines were fine.

Segment 7: You missed a jump early on which should have caused a restart

Segment 8: Good overall

Segment 9: All good
everybody wanna tell you the meaning of music

I felt like I was watching the Closer or something because this was masterful. Accuse someone of only using 6-7 retries, and they will retort "I tried each segment probably 10-15 times."
You spoony bard!
Ah AKA, you have such a way with words.

Thiradell:  I would like to verbally masturbate you by saying you are godly at this annoying game.  I literally hate it (the game.)  You did, however, spur me to actually complete it... but I am stuck on the Bowser lava world... that lava boat is a killer.  Anyways, from my non-expert eye, you played an entertaining game.  Having tried to consistently do the flip-jump trick, I salute you for being able to pull that off consistently.  I look forward to your 100% run Smiley

Segment 1: Should have been an instant restart. You make two clumsy errors literally 2 and 3 seconds after you gain control. I know you would consider them minor but the segment is so short and uneventful that there really isn't anything you realistically should mess up. I did three or four runs of this segment (after practicing it for awhile), then reviewed the ones I had, and the one I submitted was my fastest time overall, so I kept it. It's faster because of the Goop-Covered Piranha Plant fights and the Shadow Mario chase.

Segment 2: Was fine, pretty damm impressive at some parts. Several errors which would have costed 30+ seconds overall. Personally I think you should have kept this segment as a backup if you were unable to improve it. Yeah there is a bit of room for improvement here. This was my first 7-Shine segment, so I was still new to speedrunning the game. I'd say this is good enough for a 13 and a half minute segment though.

Segment 3: Why did you pick the green squid? Sure it's turning is far superior but at the cost of speed. At 6:20 I feel you should have restarted after failing the long sequence of wall kicks. The green Blooper is the best to use overall (Alex Penev used it for his WR time). Yeah, the fall in Episode 4 stunk, but this was the first time I executed the tricks in Episodes 3 and 4 (jump underneath the cage, Somersault Dive to the second cog) in the same segment, so I kept it.

Yeah I do grab quite a few ledges in Episode 1. The missed jump in Episode 2 doesn't matter much because I get back up quickly, and also because the mirror/Cataquacks is in better position when I get back up (I can spray them to the edge more quickly than usual).

Segment 5: After falling off the pirate ship it should have been an instant restart. At 15:55 could of used a triple jump to wall kick and get to the shine more quickly in the obstacle course No the fall doesn't hurt that much because the ships flip over anyway. I don't lose much time there at all. I'm not sure what you mean by triple jump wall kick, there isn't really room for a triple jump in that tight spot, and it wouldn't save hardly any time because you have to jump three times to execute a triple jump anyway.

Segment 6: A bit unfourtunate what happened in the worlds least profitable casino, I still think the frustration might have boiled over enought to cause a restart, all the other shines were fine. Nah. This was a redoing of this segment anyways (improved it a minute from what I had before) and at this point I certainly didn't want to redo a segment 'cause of bad luck.

Segment 7: You missed a jump early on which should have caused a restart Hmm this must be referring to when I hit the goop ball, yeah that was unfortunate. It doesn't cost a whole lot of time though because I jump right back up, and the timing works out for later on when I jump off of three in a row (I'm not sure if this is any faster than Dragorn's method, but it definitely looks cool. Wink

Thanks for the comments overall guys, always nice to hear suggestions/compliments on the run Smiley

I'm not sure what you mean by triple jump wall kick

This is what I'm refering to. The green dot shows where you should do the double jump, the yellow shows where to begin the triple jump and red dot the wall jump. It's a little difficult to demonstrate using a picture because you need to visualise the platform moving towards Mario.

Please man, just take your controller and finish this game in a better time. I would be happy to verify it. But don't complain about the work made. This run was a good improvement of a poor run so I'm happy that the actual run is this one and not the previous one.
Mr. Twishall
Oh a Triple Jump from there! I hadn't even thought about that. Hmm that's a good idea, but it's a little late now.
