We finished recording  today. The overall time is about 1:39:26. It might be a bit more, or it might be a bit less. It will be a lot more if the timing is stopped from the last player-dependent input. Smiley
I sent an email to mikewuyma today. I'll post again when I have something new to say.

What do you think, is that a good time? It's only a few seconds worth of mistakes overall, which seems very good to us. An almost perfect run overall.
1:39:26 seems amazing actually :thinksmoke:

I read the old XIII thread again. People actually talked about bunnyhopping! Interesting, since I haven't been able to do it.

Is there some special way of doing it? I thought it's pretty much jump-jump-jump in every game.
My theory is that it's based on the initial acceleration of a jump, and since you do a new jump at the same time you land, you don't decelerate and return to walking mode, but get another acceleration boost from the new jump.
In XIII you can jump around all you want, but I haven't observed any kind of initial boost. I actually haven't observed any kind of deceleration when landing either. The jumping system is lame, at least for me. I think I have the version 1.01.

Could it be a version difference? I'll dig around, and see if I can get a patch changelog into my hands.
edit: no, nothing. Am I to declare either that bunnyhopping is not possible (in my version)?
I guess it would be a lot easier since we've already completed the whole thing, but I'm looking for ways to make it even better.

Lol, seriously, it will be a very good time. I don't know how skilled you are with speedrunning, maybe you haven't seen some bugs, etc., but great. Hope I can watch it soon, it's surely a good time  Smiley
A minor setback. I found out that one of the dvds I used for capturing was actually a DVD-R instead of a DVD+R. I tested its compatibility with all 5 working dvd drives that we have here in our house. It worked with one. That was the dvd recorder that it was recorded with.
I'm now very worried about its compatibility issues, which is why we have to rerun all the levels on that dvd, and the following levels also.
If we still have all the save game files saved, we have to run 14 segments again. I'll mark them to the progress list. We'll probably start running them next week. It shouldn't take long, since we already know how to do them really well anyway.
And btw, I don't think this will delay the run being posted here at all. Things seem to work a bit slowly here...
¬¬

Have you checked that the DVD is closed/finished/?, as usually you can't watch unclosed DVDs in other players or your computer. Gah, I can't remember the term...

At any rate, that sounds odd to me.

Yeah, it was that. Thank God! And thank you too!  Grin
The disc just wasn't finished, and that was the problem. Now it's sorted out. The whole run is safely on my table, and each and every disc works!
Phew!  Grin
...the next problem could be a fire, but I'll keep my fingers crossed. Smiley
Phew :headbanger:

Isn't that the same ? Here at SDP everyone is an unique, small wonder.  ::)....

Just kidding, most only talk shit  Tongue

Lol guys. Merry Christmas.
You put a file to my face. Wink

edit: not a file, I mean a smile.  Cheesy
Yes, how did I say SDP, I mean SDA.

This is really one of the coolest communities I know.

But let's stay on topic.

Yeah, let's do that. I was hoping someone would comment the route Smiley

hint, hint. Wink

Tomorrow I'll start to work on checking that I've used the right save files for recording the segments. I wouldn't want the run to be rejected because of a continuity fault.
The game has some of its very own continuity errors as well. Muona finished the submarine base level with 1 hp, and in the next level he has 25. In some levels you get free guns, or free bullets. You can even lose guns. It's really weird, and I hope the future verifiers for this run will accept that, since it can't be helped.
Okay, now I see the run has made it to the verifiers topic. I don't think I'm supposed to know who the verifiers are, but if you're interested, go check out

http://speeddemosarchive.com/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=main;action=display;num=1119819118

and follow the instructions there. When enough verifiers have singed up for the job, we can send the dvds over. I hope that's soon!
I'm just pointing you into a direction, and not trying anything sneaky here Smiley
Too bad I can't be a verifier  Tongue
Heh, I don't know the rules about being a verifier. I just read what someone had written in another thread about "I'm not supposed to know who the verifiers are, so don't tell me"... I might have misinterpreted.
I guess anyone is better off finding out for themselves. Perhaps you could send a PM to mikwuyma and ask him about this.
The rule would make sense as with that the submitter couldn't bribe the verifiers into saying that the run is legit...

This might seem like a stupid thing to write, but me and Muona checked the whole run for continuity, and it was fine. We found no mistakes in terms of using the wrong save file, but then again we only checked after the key stages (the ones where you get new weapons, ammo and health. We only checked for health, armor and ammo, as well.
In some stages we finished with very little health (1 health, for example), and would have 25 health in the beginning of the next stage. The game also seems to grant more ammo in some levels, so the verifiers will probably have to check that out for themselves.

umm you said that already. well if it's a bug by the game, it should be fine, probably it is made by the game cause they don't want to send you in with 1 hp.
"Ideally a verifier needs to be someone who has played & completed a game..."

Well ideally, not a must.

" Verifiers must be someone who's "been around"... guests and people with very new accounts, or people I just don't like/trust can't be verifiers"

Well I'm quite new here, but I'll probably ask for being a verifier.
Hahaha Cheesy
I noticed what I wrote just now. It makes no sense  Grin
Okay, everything is set now, apart for the verifiers. It seems it takes a looooong time to find some. Maybe it's just me being impatient. It feels kind of weird when you've done something and would like others to see it too, but you can't..
So I thought that since there are a few people here who seem to know a bit (or a lot) about XIII, maybe I should point them out in the right direction Smiley
We'd be really glad if there were some people who would find it in their hearts to verify the run. Thanks in advance Smiley
Hm how said, I asked but didn't get an answer yet, I don't know if i'll get one at all. I would like to help you but in this situation...
*bump*

I got bored of waiting (and doing nothing) for enough verifiers to sign up, so I started capturing the video myself. I'm no good at that, but at least I'll get a video of some kind to give my friends. I probably will not put that up on the internet (because of the quality), since nate can probably do the job twice as well as I can... Eventually.  Wink
XIII now has enough verifiers! Smiley
The run now only has to be sent and verified, which hopefully won't take all that long. The future is looking good!  Grin
I'm thinking after the run is released here, maybe it could be discussed in this topic.
