Existence as you know it is over
Quote:
The difficulty level we use is Arcade, which is the easiest - and I think it's the one you get if you don't touch any settings. I like to think of it as an out-of-box run, even though it's far from it.
I believe it's possible to get the best overall time with Arcade difficulty. On other difficulty levels you'd have to think differently. For example, all the gunfights become a lot more strategic, not to mention the bosses.
But it's not like it's easy to get a good time with the easiest setting. We use a lot of tricks and careful planning in the run, so I think you'll find (at least most of it  ;)) good to watch. It's not perfect, though, but anyway.
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Ok sorry I didn't see. Thank you Wink
Here's the progress of the run for the next few days:

I might collect some segments to my hard drive from our dvd discs that are lying around next week. My brother Muona is going away to a vacation, so it's unlikely that anything gets recorded before the next weekend.
If all goes well, the run should be finished in the change of this month.
It's a pity this has taken so long, but let's hope it will be over soon.
Ye and I will do a single-segment run on XIII difficulty, hehe...

This project stands in the stars...
Are you serious about SS? I will gladly help you with anything you need if you are. Smiley
I'm absolutely sure most of the route we use would work for XIII difficulty, as well. In some places you'd need to kill some key enemies unlike with Arcade difficulty, where you can just ignore them. RPG guys are probably a must, but they don't hit me now anyway.
In the canyon levels you can skip them spawning in two places.
I've got a few ideas about alternate (less risky) routes, so if you are up to the task in the future, just ask me Smiley

Btw, I updated the rough route on page 3. It has nothing new, so people who have been reading the posts here will be bored if they read it.
Well a SS really would be difficult to do. No mistakes, no sudden moves. And another thing is that you have 4 CD's, and at some points you have to change them to continue. This is no problem at a multi-segmented run, but a single...
About the cds, you could make images of them and load all three required cds onto virtual cd drives.
And yeah, single-segment would be difficult. Not impossible, but I know I don't want to do it.
Good morning, people.
It's been a while since anything has happened with this run. Me and my brother Muona are still willing to complete this.
The good piece of news is that we have a bit of time this week, so hopefully we'll start recording again. My guess will be wednesday to sunday.
The only difficult thing left is to kill Colonel MacCall with two AR grenades, but after that everything is just repetition of what we already have.

i used to play this game before, if you have any questions about a level i could see if i find some fast way to beat it (i am using the PS2 version though so bugs and routes i find may not work)

i like how you found those alternative ways in canyon Smiley

and Doc Johansson dies fastest if attacked with the 44

good luck !
Long time, no see.
Today me and Muona recorded all of the remaining levels. Most of them got better times, though some had the same time as earlier.
I haven't updated the list of times yet. I just thought I'd write a small update to tell everyone that we're still working on this. Smiley
The only thing left is sending them over to SDA, then!
Welcome back, welcome back. Let's see what the future gives us.
Title #1
Wow, I just realized I had the game only after seeing this thread Shocked

I'll definately watch this if I ever decide to finish the game.
Hello, everyone. I noticed the thread did not get updated when I edited the opening post.
Well, the situation is this: we have everything recorded, and even on the correct hard drive, all ready to be sent. There's one more thing to do, and that is plugging the hard drive into another computer. We'll probably do that tomorrow.
After that, the video can be sent, which is splendid Smiley
I'm not going to update the Youtube videos, since the next 'release' (if you can call it that) will be the finished run here on speed demos archive.

Btw, I haven't the times for the levels yet, so the list is inaccurate right now. If I have the time, I will update it with the correct times later on.
hey sp3ctum

When is the full video to be seen? Can't wait to see it Wink
Today we switched the hard drive to my brother's computer. We will hopefully start uploading the run to SDA soon.
I am still interested.
Mum's the word.
Yay, someone bumped the thread. GOGOGOGO upload to sda!
XIII speedrun?
That's relevant to my interests Grin
Yesterday we sent the torrent file over to the folks at SDA, so it probably won't be too long until the run is ready.
Good news are....good news.
The whole run has now been sent overseas. Let's hope it will be released soon! Smiley
I removed the clips from YouTube, since they will be futile in a moment anyway.
Looking forward to this speedrun.  Smiley
Oh boy. What a long wait it has been!
I wish I could say that it's over. I've heard nothing of this run from SDA yet, but I doubt it could take much longer.
