DMC3,ZOE2 and Xenosaga 2. Am I crazy?
This run will be put on hold because I just haven´t got the time to do this right now.
Hello, will you be leaving in the various cutscenes (at least major ones) for this speedrun? Maybe I'm missing the point, I think of speedruns as performance art, showcasing the game.
I think it's a shame when the story of the game is sidelined just to showcase how quickly someone can do something.
I downloaded the Silent Hill speed run to find all of the most itneresting parts cut out, and being left with video of someone just running for minutes on end...

Plus, has anyone ever seen a Xenogears speedrun, I am dying for one. Thanks for all the work, i love watching speed runs!!

There was over 7 hours of cutscenes in Xenosaga Episode 1. Not only that but in general, cutscenes are always skipped whenever possible (because they subtract time away from actual game time played).

This getting put on hold, well thats alright. I'm not too sure how close I am to finishing this game, but everything from the beginning of disk one to Labyrynthos does not seem too hard to do (except Orgella dangit...). It's also a shame that you might not (parndon, CANNOT) fit in some double techs either. While they are usless compared to a full combo, you could pull off some nice damage were the circumstandes correct using Phonix Blade for example (does decent damage). But nobody wants to go stocking for lesser damage. I bring up a usless point. Gah...

Do you plan on getting Psycho Pocket? There might be some useful things you could nab (ex EMAX300's).

Yes, you are missing the point. These are speedruns, not showcaseruns.

Something in general though: Enemies generally get in your way and force you to fight them in a lot of cases. Your basically gonna run for it unless they are in the way right? (Or you can knock them out in < minute in puzzle areas?)

In the beginning, lot of figts can be skipped, but those damn shperes in the subconcious domain will be in the path (nearly blocking you). You might even have to run by the same ones twice. The time it take for the battle to load is about 10 seconds, and the time it takes to return to the field is about 5+5 loading isn't it?
DMC3,ZOE2 and Xenosaga 2. Am I crazy?
Sometimes it takes more than 10 secs to load so it really pisses me off. The problem is I can´t run from every fight unless I power level with Shion in the Federation ship. But that way only Shion will get the s.points. Shame because that is the best poerlevel place in the game.

I don´t need the levels to make the battles faster, just to make me survive them with more HP. This run is seeming to be more hard than I though...

I got off the dammerung when Shion learned Heaven's Rain Smiley

True that though. She even gets Class points there, so she may be able to learn a few useful things, while you go through that place (the machines here are uber weak to her lightning/beam attacks here, so fights take about 30 seconds at most). I really recommend that you gain a few levels here to boost everyone elses up.

But I'm worried about some of the later levels. There was a case I had to fight an enemy in the way, and there were 5 guards, 3 of them spear ones. In a situation like that, you might be in trouble if you don't have enough HP, or time rather (because they will likely hack you to death if you aren't using Jin\Ziggy\KOS-MOS). I think that it may be necessary to switch characters in some battles for the sake of longevity.

...

Seeing how it has been more than half a month since anyone update on this, I have come to the conclusion that this speed run has been stalled for the time being. That being said, I think this may actually be chance for me to give this one a try and see if I can make anything useful of it.

Being lower levelled later on in the game will be a problem, but there could be a way to deal with it (I'm super worried about how to take out Patriarch. He does a lot of damage by himself, forget Proto Ω...)

This speedrun is stalled and I´m not sure I will ever be making this. If you try I will promise to help you as much as I can.
Speed Running Joy-bringer
Well this is what I come to so far.

Everything up to the Dammerung is going to be quite smooth, so not too much to worry about (Albedo can be a pain though). After that, however, it's going to be a bit of a steep curve, and you do end up fighting a lot of enemies who have been conveniantly (well not really) placed in your way. I think that it will be possible to go through without having to stay in one spot gaining levels.

The part that remains is the abilites. Swords are a given, along with Medica 2 when possible. Still managing with the skills you start with, but in-between, I'm still trying to find out, what is useful to have without going to far out of the way?
DMC3,ZOE2 and Xenosaga 2. Am I crazy?
Remeber, if you run from some of the battles that you were "supposed" to fight, sometimes the enemies position themselfs in a way that you can run pas them while you are still "flashing". This doesn´t always work but in some cases it does.
Speed Running Joy-bringer
Oh right. Good point.

I'll go through and see which ones really can't be skipped. I know a lot of the mech battles can't be skipped (because they are so big that they block your way. But I also hope to see that method work. Seeing how there is not point in encountering an enemy two times, to run away two times. More time is wasted than dealing away with them.

Another thing is each of the characters damage certain enemies better while the opposite becomes true at somepoint. I'll be relying of the FAQs a bit to keep the weakesses fresh in my head. I'm thinking of switching characters on the cases where the elements switch around too much.

*Saestrol uses Revive S on the thread!*

Seeing how difficut it really is to run this game, it's safe to say that your are gonna have to spend a lot of time on it. Preperation is one thing, but there are some bosses that are a huge pain in the arse to try and take on. Maybe some leveling is required.

This hasn't been touched in awhile, but maybe after I scope up on some other runs I'm working on, I'll try to do the math on this one again.
