Hi guys,
I am posting here, but I will also be scanning eBay and the likes. Feel free to also point me towards good offers on eBay or elsewhere. I will, of course, note here, if I'm going to buy somewhere else.

As the title says, I'm planning on going NTSC. My first console is deemed to be a PS2 slim. Games I wish to buy asap-ish are (in order of preference):
Persona 1,
Final Fantasy IX, and
Final Fantasy X.

If you want to offer the console and/or games, feel free to suggest further games to toss in if they are not too expensive.
Remember that I'm in Europe when posting shipping costs.

Also, if I recall correctly, JP discs don't play in standard US consoles and vice-versa? If so, a modded console is preferred. Neither language version of the games are preferred, though ^^ Sorry for being clueless about this ^^' Never needed to find out

HELLO!
Note that with the slim you don't even need a true hardware mod to play out of region games.

I had this setup when I had PS2 and I was playing Japanese games on my US system.

Swap Magic only works for PS2 games. For PS1, you'll want Breaker Pro. It doesn't work for all games, but I know it works for FF IX. This is what you'll need.

The other way would be to install FreeMcBoot onto a PS2 mem card and have that memcard plugged in when you boot the system. There's a bit more to it though, so going with Breaker Pro would be the easier solution.
You don't even need to open a PS2 slim or anything. All you need is some thick paper(I used an index card), scissors, and tape. For PS1 games, you don't even need a special disc. All you need is a PS1 game of the same region as the console and the game that you want to play, and then you swap the discs when the PS1 splash screen is shown. I don't recommend it, as the disc is still spinning when you need to swap, but it works for people who don't have other options. I used to do it but now I use something else.

I don't recommend that swap technique. It's not good on your discs or your disc drive. It's also not that easy to do. Also the stuff that comes with some versions of Swap magic consist of basically stuff to jam up the 3 switches on a PS2 slim.

Well thanks for your inputs on swap and breaker. I just bought a PS2 slim US of eBay, so I might come back for questions if I decide to buy JP games Wink
