... on Lv.3?

Could be done in two segments, since they allow one miserable save. If we consider the mini-game's random factor concerning places where you may find the Anti-Virus Bombs, saving just as you reach the RPD should be good enough.

This is one of the best and most challenging mini-games I've played (Cerberus dogs might kill you in two hits on Lv.3... WTF indeed), and it would be nice to see a speed-run of its hardest level around -- especially since Hunk's mini quest, the five-minute marathon with obstacles, isn't nearly as complex as EX. Mutated Birkin on the loose, multiple Mr. Xs, G-Types, frequent "Super" Ivies and Lickers, 90% of RE2's areas available for exploration, detours for extra weaponry and supplies, including a Rocket Launcher with ten handy Rockets.

Choosing Chris could be considered overkill (he's the only character in RE2 whose Handgun performs headshots, close to zero recoil with the C. Shotgun, starts with a Rocket Launcher plus five Rockets, good stamina), but I'd honestly accept it for the sake of having an EX Battle speed-run around. If I had to pick, I'd say Ada. She's fast and her weapons aren't exactly convenient in this particular situation, which would add to the challenge.

I won't do it because I suck at speed-running and I have no equipment, but I'd be glad to help with specific planning. Anyone interested?

I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
I find those EX battles to be really boring.

And if anyone does decide to do this; if you use any saves then you're a loser.:-p

Anyway. The run would be exciting but not many people will want it probably.

"I find those EX battles to be really boring."

You enjoy speed-running Silent Hill games and EX Battle is boring? That's... unusual. Wink

And of course, saving wouldn't be the best of actions around; it's just that the random factor can be quite annoying after you spend, what, 15-20 minutes going from the Lab to the RPD and the Anti-Virus Bombs don't appear where you go first. Eight places, four bombs. Would be a very interesting vid, and it could even serve some tutorial-like purpose in the long run. I maintain that considering its depth in comparison with Hunk's mini-game - which was submitted -, it couldn't go wrong.

Silent hill = Fun (fun to play and fun to speedrun).

RE:2's EX battles = Boring (really boring to play so REALLY REALLY REALLY boring to play through 50 times).:-p

Just get good at it and do it yourself.:-)

I am relatively good at it, I just loathe speed-running. I enjoy watching, but hate making them. (And, as I'm sure I wrote on my first post, I have no recording equipment.)

And I completely disagree, there's just so much Up+Square I can take when playing Silent Hill games for a whole hour. They are fun, I absolutely love them, but not for this kind of thing. EX Battle, at least theoretically, would require a bit more than running as many straight lines as possible.

You haven't done much speedrunning of resident evil games have you?;-)

Irrelevant. You still deal with a lot more stuff - and much more dangerous stuff, even if you don't end up killing things - than in Silent Hill games.

You're arguing with a guy whose done alot of speedrun work for both series (hell I've beaten the 1st 3 RE's using only the knife).  There's no difficulty in RE (don't get me wrong there's no real difficulty in SH either).

Just because RE throws tons of enemies at you doesn't make it dangerous; very few enemies in the game actually have a chance of damaging you (the others you just dance around).

I'm not saying one is better than the other; I love both series.  However that doesn't take away from the fact that the EX battle games are BORING!:-p

Again, whether you're able to breeze through these games or not is completely irrelevant: you still have to deal with a lot more than in Silent Hill games. And even if they're not dangerous to you, they're much more dangerous than any SH enemy around.

I find overall RE to be harder then Silent Hill, not nessesarily BETTER, but it's a tad tougher battle wise (puzzle wise is a completely different story...). On SH3 even on Extreme difficulty settings certain enemies can be easily killed with a pocket knife (like the mercinary for example). I dinno, I'm not claiming to be a Resident Evil/Silent Hill expert, anyways if someone did this run I'd download it.

You're wrong; depends on which Re game and which SH game you're referring to.

For instance if you want to compare SH1 to RE:2; SH1 is harder (for me anyways; RE:2 has....nothing deadly in it).  However if you were to make the same comparison to RE:3 then RE:3 is harder.  As a whole I'd say the RE series is definately harder (with the REmake being the most difficult).  However since this is about RE:2; there's nothing difficult about RE:2.  At least SH has those darn child demons to piss you off; nothing in RE:2 gives me that much trouble.
Dood Trigger™
When several of RE's enemies kill you in one hit while you're on Caution mode and SH's enemies barely scratch the character, when you're not able to carry as many healing items as you want in RE games and the situation is quite the opposite in SH games, when SH's enemies that show decent speed appear in wide open areas with all the space in the world to [of course] hold Up+Square into safety, when RE characters show physical injury signs that stand in their way as far as plain mobility is concerned, I feel more than comfortable enough to maintain my view.

Yet again, whether you don't have trouble with them is irrelevant -- they're more dangerous than SH's enemies simply because the price you pay for screwing up is clearly higher, and you do have to deal with more enemies more often in RE games. They stand in your way more often. It's obvious. If you wanna keep arguing for the sake of arguing, go ahead and take the prize.
