windows media pops up instaed of divx

when i click on any video i want to see the windows media tryies too show the video instead of the DivX player how can i make the divx player play the video if the one from windows starts first please help! ! !

i know that maybe i dont know how to explain this minor problem but plase help or ask me for more specifications

right click on video download link -> save as ... (desktop)

start menu -> divx -> divx player

file -> open (file you saved on the desktop)

haha, well i had the same thing when i tried vlc too...which i actually did want because the h264 pack requires like 8 or some crap.

Right click the file type you want. Open with... > Choose Program, then look for the player and have it selected and before clicking OK, check off "Always use selected program to open this kind of file."

Now Windows will open files of that type with VLC or whatever player you chose.

not that, i meant the "open with" in the right click menu. note: i am not talking about "send to".

btw: on windows 98 press shift + right click if a program is ever selected
