Ani: do let me know if your idea works Smiley I have a few of my own for various parts of the game that I also have to test. I will probably waste a lot of spare time trying to improve the route.

Well, my idea kinda sorta worked, not as much as I wanted it to though.
I wanted to see if I got to the section with Dragon Roost (or wherever you are) and saved if it would savewarp me straight to the island shore, but it doesn't. Buuuuut I think it did warp me closer, since I barely got on the section, saved, and took me like 5 seconds fast sailing to get to the cutscene. So it helps sliiiightly, only by a couple seconds.
Yeah, that was my retarded theory xD
Doesn't hurt to try, right?
Just trying to cut down on the sailing as much as possible.

I do have a route difference in my head because I think its faster not to savewarp after getting the shield, instead just going outside to talk to tetra, and then theres the 20 rupees to collect in the segment where you see tetra fall from the tree.

I tested that segment idea out and I got that the savewarp is around 2-3 seconds faster then not savewarping. But I used a stop watch to time it so it's inaccurate. >__>

Also, where are those extra 20 rupees?
In the log IIRC... could be wrong though.
Oh, I thought he meant like another twenty on outset that wasn't in my 80 rupee route.

Weeeell, now I've pretty much motivated myself to doing this SS run. I'm watching TSA's segmented run and I just.. I don't know, feel confident that I could do better.
I'm gonna have to get a job now to pay for a DVR and crap now D:
That and a comp that has DVD-ROM  cause the one I'm using right now doesn't >.<
But yeah, I feel like doing this SS run now.

Soooo consider this one of my goals! Cheesy
Hopefully I'll keep my goal >:

Oh, DRybes, have you timed my sailing idea yet? I'm confident it's faster, but I need legitimate proof...
Bah, I should stop being lazy and time it myself. xP
MrGrunz is a guay

Great, now 3 people are trying for a SS, and no one wanting to do it even has a DVR >_<.  Meh, I probably won't do it.  Too much work with OoT.  LinkTetra VS AniMeowzerz

This is actually untrue.  In order to get across the first room in the Wind Temple without the boots, you have to roll jump off of the spring and pump the deku leaf to get across.  Without pumping, you don't even come close.  When you pump, you either get more speed or retain more height, I'm not sure which.  But it does help.

I'm sure that pumping just helps sustain height longer if anything. Good to know though, I'll keep that in mind.

I lol'd.
I mean, I could do it on VHS, but that just seems.... really out of date and would probably be bad quality. >:
But I've been wanting to buy a DVR for a while now... But now I have an excuse x)

Yeah, I tried that out and Darius is right. It sustains height.

VHS runs aren't accepted on this site anymore.  :-/

Yeah, I realized that. I figured I'll use VHS for test runs and as soon a I can get a DVR I'll try some official ones.

EDIT: Mom's getting me a DVR for my birthday, which is next week... SCORE! XP

Oh my. Well I finally know why it's used then. Excellent.

I've stopped counting how many people are supposedly working on the game. Nothing of fruition has come of it yet. So far with segments looks like Yajuta got the farthest, and looks like LinkTetra is closest to a submittable single segment. I don't know when it became taboo to work on the same run and category someone else is... if anything that should just inspire you to play your best.

I actually didn't roll jump when I did it... I just jumped.

Damn I'm already tired of seeing this intro over and over. You'd think a 180, two sidehops, a straight swim, some rolls, and climbing a ladder would be easy to do flawlessly in a few tries. Ah well, once I get these first few segments done the cutscenes will be over for a while.

You could make the intro its own segment, saving after the Aryll text, which would warp you to the bottom. it's not a timesaver, but that way you wouldn't have to deal with that friggin intro everytime. So damn annoying that you can't skip cutscenes in this game >:

Ahh, well, whatever =P  I do know that without the pumping, you don't come close either way.  I just roll out of force of habit from OoT

Nah I just owned up and did it. Plus there was enough time to have a cigarette during the whole thing, so it wasn't too bad.

I have no idea how previous runs were timed but I want to note that timing should start at the first text box that appears after you wake up and stretch. From that point on you must press A to advance the text.

After a good 15 tries I did something acceptable. It might be like a second faster than Yauty's lookout dismount, whatever, almost identical. Managed to hit the ladder in the house dead on too.

Edit: For the parts comparable it's the same time as Yauty's, so I think I shall keep it.

I've got something, but Paraxade said that there are no loading zones behind the doors here.  Even so, I think that we may be able to use this SOMEHOW.  I can't pull off the clipping trick though, so I need someone who can to do some testing for me.

In the room in the WT before the Makar capture, there are 2 Armos Statues.  You can toss a statue up onto the wall as it's becoming a floor up above.  After the statue wakes up again, you can guide it away from the floor, and move out of it's range.  If it's done right, you can have both you and the statue on the upper level here.  There's not much to this area, just a couple of hookshotable headstones and a switch to activate the wall.  From here, you can do one of 2 things.  You could try the clip with the wall put up, from the area where the floor was, or you can put the wall up and have yourself and the statue on the very top of the wall.  If Paraxade is right, this does us no good in the Makar capture room.  But can we go beyond that room, to the area below the following rooms floor?  The area you normally have to trigger the switch for?  Can someone try this for me?  And if for some reason Paraxade is wrong, then I suspect that we might be able to get Link in position to hand to hand (haha, punny) combat the hands.

...when did I say that?

by the way it's probably much easier to just bring Makar up and use him instead.

Yes. Try clipping with makar and see where that gets you. Depending on the level layout and the extent to which our clipping works, it's probably not possible to get out of the room. Regardless, it's also OoB.

Well, either way, we need Makar in the next room, and he cannot open doors by himself.  For testing purposes, sure, use Makar.  But when it's go time, you'd have to use an Armos.  Assuming that this works at all.

Doin Good
7:03 final time after continuing the 4:50 run. A 1:01 improvement putting me 21 minutes behind TSA. This last part, getting the Triforce Charts to beating Ganon, took me 2:13 and TSA did it in 2:00. I was expecting to take at least 2:20...

For the segmented run, you can cut down the FW boss with 2 boomerang throws (1 may be possible). Target 3 on one side then 2 on another. I don't think it matters which you do first.
I've done the FW boss in 3 throws before. And that was a hell of an improvement. Nice job.  Smiley

edit: Btw, what's the point of clipping into the other room. The main point to skip his capture is to open the doors (makar planting the last seed) but somehow get makar back. It seems impossible.Maybe a savewarp of death warp. I tried a savewarp but I couldn't pause in time. I don't there is a window open where you can save. And if makar goes oob and you switch control to him, it is an automatic deathwarp to the last door you went through.

Simple.  If we have clip Link from the other room from a high enough location, we can get him on the platform where Makar is captured.  If we can get him up there, we have a LOT more options to deal with the problem at hand. (damn it, not punny) If it's possible, this seems to be the ideal way to deal with it, ESPECIALLY if it's to be attempted in a SS run.  It just seems easier than a savewarp deathwarp...
I see. But got some news on the deathwarp. I died right after makar got captured. Then I went back into the room but 3 of the floormasters were still there. It was just the black hole thing. If you stand over it, it warps you to the big fan room.Oh yeah, and the thing was, the bomb exploded RIGHT when I planted the seed and when I died, I died from an invisible explosion.

edit: Ok, with AR I was able to defeat the floormasters before they grabbed link.what i did was set a bomb and right before it exploded i conducted the song and quickly planted the seed then it exploded when the master grabbed Makar. Then I quickspinned them to finish. So, get Link up there and we have a skip. I don't think deathwarping will work since the hit to link occurs after the cutscene.
O Zlda?
The floormasters are up there until you rescue Makar at which point, because you have the hookshot, more enemies (particularly wizzrobes) are in every room anyway.
