No, there's a trick where yoiu sail to the cyclone outside of the Forbidden Woods, jump out of the boat at the right time and glide into the cyclone and glide into the FW.

Don't forget the edit above! It also works on miniboss doors since there are load points behind them too.
Ah ! I didn't know this trick ^^" ! Finally, I learn a lot of things here :).
And do you know if there are glitches (in French, we say "bug", I don't know if you, in America, you use this word to design the glitches) who like glitches of OOT ? In example go to Gerudo's Fortress being child, or go in Shadow Temple before Forest Temple ?
New timesaver! Skip the last WGA stone in the WT! I'll upload it.

No, there are no major sequence breaks like that, but it would be great if we can find one.  There are still a lot of glitches and tricks to save lots of time.  Most can be found here, although its not totaly up to date.

There should be enough room to pick up Medli, getting her through the wall, then set her down on the ledge. Afterwards just fly her over to the door. If there is not enough room you could try jumping with her...

I am not sure how much of this I would try since I do not have an AR.

Cool WGA Stone skip. I may very well use it if its not OoB. How do you know there are loading triggers behind doors?

AR could make skipping the ET Boss Key possible. What looks to be the final problem is getting over to the ledge for the second clip with Medli in the way. We could AR over her and grab the ledge?

It's not an oob and I'm positive it can be done without Makar. And I know there are load points behind the door cause when I was oob in ET I glided behind the boss door and then appeared in the boss room.

edit: Btw, you don't need Makar for the stone skip trick.  Smiley That means, after you get the boss key, you won't need makar for the rest of the temple.  Cheesy

WT route now plz?
Both routes have been updated. The only difference now is one less time to conduct the CM. So around 20-30 seconds saved.

edit: I reupdated them. Added in a savewarp after the WT Boss Key. I thought the warp was already in there. >>
Alright, I rereupdated the routes. Added in an extra joy pendant that we can snag in DRC and made us pick up the heal fairy in the FoF after the first purse upgrade.

Hello ^^,

I continue to read your text, and how can us to defeat Gohma and Kalle Demos in only a single cycle ?

Edit : I stopped to read at segment 32, and I have 3-4 questions :
- In segment 27, if I have well understood, you say we must to go to te cyclone of the God ?
- Is it important if after the segment 30 we have less bombs than 23 ?
- What is "Stone watcher's platform" ? Is it an isle ?
- And in segment 33, what is "Kazooie's ToG break" ?

Thanks for answer :).

Here's the trick

Here's a quicker version

Yes, in segment 27 it's the cyclone wiuth the god in it.

No, it's not important that we have less that 23 bombs, I just felt like keeping a bomb count.

And stone watcher platform is one of those platforms on the sea but it's near stone watcher island.

And here's the clipping trick in higher quality.

I saved after restoring the Master Sword in 4:50 today. That's an 11 minute improvement putting me 8 minutes behind TSA (4:42).

I may continue it so I can destroy my ancient 8:04 record...

Reflected light travels through walls. I do not know if we could still hit targets from behind a wall. I think we can clip in the WT room where Makar gets captured. Hard to test without the AR...

O Zlda?
I tried it tonight and that WGA stone skip is so awesome to do. considering the way to the boss is right down there under the fan blades, is it faster to continue directly on from that point to the boss door and open the warp jar, then make a new segment? Based on what I just did tonight my gut tells me yes.

After almost a year on hiatus from this thread I think I'm coming back onboard. It would appear that LinkTetra, Unreal, Darius and I have an almost nightly conspiracy chat going on, all trying to find skips and shortcuts in this game. Unreal has a true gift for exploring and route planning, LinkTetra has the dedication of closing down his times, about to do an amazing single segment run of this game that will probably beat the quality (and maybe even time) of the current segmented run, and Darius is hellbent on skipping entire items in the game. I have my DVD recorder now... I feel like I should continue the notion I had last March...

I only wish I had more than 3 save slots.

I just got thinking about this..
Fast sailing is where you repeatedly whip the sail out and put it back right?
Well.. is it possible that maybe jumping immediately during your speed boost can increase your speed slightly? it may not be that much of a time saver, but beings that you have to a crapload of sailing in WW this could possibly shave minutes off. Just a thought. I kinda tested it, but sailing is so slow anyhow. It did seem faster though.

... but this is coming from a newbie, so yah Tongue

The idea is that there's something like 70-80 segments to record and you want to have your current save, one or two segments back save, and one or two before that save. Using another memory card I would not be able to copy any of those saves to it, right? I have to use the exact save file, not another up to that point, due to differences in item encounters, rupees, etc... If you can copy data from one card to another then I could do what you suggest. Not sure if the GCN lets you, just cause I've never had more than one card *may be time to buy one*

Interesting thought about the jumping. I will have to time it. Also note that pulling out the wind waker stops you a lot faster than, say, the grappling hook.

What you could do is when you have a segment you want to keep, use another memory card and go into the memory section of your gamecube, copy the windwaker file to the other mem card (make sure there isn't already a WW file on your new mem card... which kinda makes that process annoying. you'd have to delete the file, go to your other one, and copy.) That's what I'm thinking, unless I'm misunderstanding you =/

But anyhow, about the jumping. I just noticed it when I was screwing around. You sustain your boost while mid-air, which I believe would last longer than if you weren't jumping, even if it were for just a couple milliseconds. I could be wrong though, so that'd be well appreciated if you timed that Cheesy

EDIT: If people find more and more speed tricks and a sub-6:00 segmented run would be possible... I might do a SS on this game... now to go buy a DVR and some discs Cheesy
O Zlda?
I'm going to do a segmented run Cheesy

Some tips to point out I don't recall seeing anywhere in this thread. Some may be obvious to you but whatever.

- The spiky things that stick to you can be removed with a roll like TSA does, but its faster to do a quickspin.
- It's fastest to collect rupees and ammo from an orb or pot with a quickspin. Everything your sword touches is picked up like boomerang would.
- Pumping the deku leaf doesn't make it go faster or conserve magic, but it does hit enemies like peahats that fly close to you and threaten to make you get hit and fall from your glide.
- Learning to quickly aim at the grappling hook and hookshot spots can save several minutes total.
- Skipping boss heart containers can save 30 seconds in total, maybe more.
- If you're waiting a few seconds for enemies to die to trigger a cutscene like a door's gate opening, you can run towards the nearest breakable object and destroy it and try to collect a rupee or two with no time loss.

The only thing bothering me right now is the ghost ship. I don't know when its pattern starts, and I dont know if its linked to real days (of the week) or not. Depending on how it works you may have to do your run on a specific day. If it reads the GCN internal clock and isn't something that constantly integrates, set in stone from the start of the game, then you can adjust the gamecube's time and date for the best ghost ship (F5).
Speed is the key.
Good luck, make sure you beat my segments. Wink
I didn't know some of these tips... Good to know! Cheesy

But the thing with that ghost ship... I believe the games only know the daily time from the internal clock, I don't think it can really count in real time. That'd be freaky D:

Totally going off topic, but in its own little way on topic :0
I was able to grab everything in the Gallery on Sonic Gems Collection adjusting the internal clock on my GCN, which would have taken like... 1-2 weeks normally. I also did that on Pokemon Channel (don't ask why I played Pokemon Channel xD)

But I'm going to try something today on WW. I have a really dumb theory but if it works it'll be genius Cheesy
I'll edit the post and tell you if it worked or not.

I've only seen 1 thru 4 and then 9 but yes, I do intend to (and those are really good segments). I do have a route difference in my head because I think its faster not to savewarp after getting the shield, instead just going outside to talk to tetra, and then theres the 20 rupees to collect in the segment where you see tetra fall from the tree.

Ani: do let me know if your idea works Smiley I have a few of my own for various parts of the game that I also have to test. I will probably waste a lot of spare time trying to improve the route.
