It saves more than one second due to splitting the segments. With shorter segments it gets a lot easier to optimise them. What is your new channel's URL?

From what I can tell I have a fairly obvious timesaver. It involves changing the wind. As long as you are traveling no more than 45 degrees (Or Pi/4 radians for you mathematical people) from the wind's direction you travel at full speed. You can really reduce the amount of times you change the wind with some planning...

For the SS, I can ride the NE wind that is used to enter the FW all the way to Greatfish. I can get from Outset2 all the way to the ET (Grabbing the BoG, both rupee upgrade, the Power Bracelets, and the Iron Boots as well) with just 3 Wind Direction changes, from what I remember...

Ya, I did that wind trick in my SS's too.

I know it is not Febuary yet, but I feel like giving an update into my SS work. Yesterday I saved after restoring the Master Sword in 5:08 (First timed attempt!). Very improvable as I used 40 arrows for Gohdan and I have yet to work with about the last 2:30. TSA did it in 4:42, 26 minutes faster than me.

However on the plus side I had the final rupee upgrade, which TSA did not.
That's a good improvement. Good job. Glad to hear progress.  Smiley

My quickly thrown together WW SS route up to after the WT (Acronyms are fun!). Later I will look into possible changes that could shave a few wind direction changes (In the form of Triforce Charts). I grab Joy Pendants whenever they are a very small detour. I am also considering getting Fado's song before going back to the ET with Medli. For now I only plan on using the soup for magic becouse I sometimes mess up the soup glitch. I may make some changes to ET and WT.

Start.

Grab 100 rupees before the Hero's Clothes. (Doing this after saving Tetra could slightly help with resetting)
Grab as many rupees as I can after killing both Bokoblins (I once got 4 and 5 could be possible)

Windfall

Grab the sail
Sail East to DR, ignoring the rupees whenever sailing
Grab rupees as I destroy the large rocks. (I am thinking of using the bombs to lower my health some for the DRC deathwarp instead)

DRC

Lose some health with bombs when I can.
Grab the Grappling Hook then head back to the boss door room
Go back to the area right before the 3 Bokoblins and do ZFG's Bridge jump (Not warping with the Blue jar)
Damage myself to 1/4 heart on the Magtail near the Boss Key
Get boss Key and deathwarp with the lava
Warp to the boss door room with the Green warp jar
Grab Heart Container (4)

Get the Wind's Requirem
Set wind South
Sail to FH

Forest Haven

If I have 40 rupees get the Bait Bag and 2 Hoyu Pears (1 extra to be safe)
Grab the Deku Leaf
Glide to the first island before FW
Set wind North West
Enter FW

Forbidden Woods

Open the Blue warp jar
Obtain the Boomerang
Grab the Boss Key
Death warp with ther Moblins and thorned vines. (I have more than enough ways to get my heath low by this point)
Jump in Green warp jar
Grab Heart Container (5)

Visit Beetle if I have 40 rupees now
Sail to D4 and drop Faroes Pearl
Sail to Greatfish island
Set wind North East
Sail to Windfall
Get Bombs
Set wind South
Sail to C4 and drop Din's Pearl
Sail to Outset

Outset

Set wind West
Get the Rupee Upgrade and a fairy
Get Soup
Set wind North East
Sail to E4 and drop Nayru's Pearl

Tower of Gods

Sequence break, reseting after 3 failed attempts (I get this trick the first try most of the time)
Skip Heart Container (5)

Obtain the Master Sword!
Restock on Bombs and Arrows as I fight my way out of Hyrule
Set wind North West
Sail to C4 and get the BoG
Warp to Outset
Sail to A3 and get second Rupee Upgrade
Sail to FF

Forsaken Fortress

Glide to the ladder sequence break
Slide across first gap
Set wind South West
Glide across second gap
Skip the Heart Container (5)

Warp to MaC
Get Fire and Ice Arrows
Warp to FH
Sail to F5 and grab the Iron Boots
Warp to DR
Sail to C6 and get the Power Bracelets
Warp to Outset
Set wind North East
Sail to G3 and get Laruto's song
Warp to DR

Shoot down and open 200 rupee chest
Play music with Medli
Warp to Outset
Sail to G3
Enter ET

Earth Temple

Win the Mirror Shield
Backtrack to the room with the large sun
Open Yellow warp jar
Grab the alcove rupees in the mirror room
Get health at least down to 3/4 hearts with the Darknut
Grab the Boss Key
Deathwarp with bombs
Open and enter Green warp jar
Skip Heart Container (5)

Warp to Windfall
Sail to A4 and get Fado's song
Warp to FH and play music with Makar
Warp to Windfall
Sail to A4 and enter WT

Wind Temple

(Can't remember much of WT at the moment)
Open Blue warp jar early
Backtrack to, open, and enter Green warp jar
Get health low (3/4, at least) with the Darknut
Grab the Hookshot
Deathwarp with bombs
Enter Green warp jar
Grab the Heart Container (6 total)
...

I guess point out anything that could be improved or fixed, should anyone find something...

Do you mean the Grappling Hook?
I didn't really read through it all but why would you get heart containers when it will take longer to get the health down. I see getting them because it's a SS but I wouldn't get the HC's.

DRC HC : FW has a risk of getting really low on health soon. I sometimes have trouble in the room with the thorn maze and lose a heart or 2. Early into the run, so I may toss this one...

FW HC : An extra heart or 2 makes the Hyrule monsters a little easier to do quickly.

WT HC : Because I no longer need to worry about having my health too high. The SL is not hard with 3 hearts, but the extra health lets me try riskier moves. Puppet Ganon is the hardest part of the game and having 3 hearts means there is going to be a good chance of dieing if I lost the soup.

At this point I can't see sticking to 3 hearts saving any time without making things too risky. same with 4 hearts. 5 hearts could work, perhaps (time will tell).
That's true. It's up to you anyways.
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Unless there are glitches with bombs like on oot, 5 hearts should do fine. The only area that needs more is indeed puppet ganon, so unless you have really good aiming with bow consider 6.

I would just like to acknowledge that Marshmallow (the one who first submitted a Wind Waker speedrun to SDA) had magnificient aiming for the Ganon fight. Too bad his run aint listed here anymore because it could have helped anyone speedrunning this game.

For not having a lot of practice with Puppet Ganon, I think I have good aiming. My strategy is to stay locked on, while I see everyone else manualy aim. 5:01, a 7 minute improvement ;D. 19 minutes from TSA...

I found at least a dozen OoB spots today. One or two look like they could have a use (Not in an SDA run, of course). Things like a boss key skip, for example. I may be near a "trials skip" like trick as well.

EDIT : By "trials skip" I mean entering an unloaded area. I was working on a MS room early (When Tetra is taken), however...

I found a camera glitch when controlling Medli. Get her up on something where she will slide off (The sharp looking teeth on the pillars in the second ET room, for example) and do not move her. The camera acts as if she did not slide off and you can Z target and look around. Move her to end it...

Let Medli be captured for the first time after the first large sun room. Get you self captured right after. back in the sun room, quickly switch control, bring her near Link, then pick her up and run around. The "Help I am up here" text will come up and the camera will zoom below the prison. The Medli yell sound is different as well. Do all this and it should work...

I still have a lot more to mess with, so I will explain the OoBs after I try some more things...

Still not finding stuff with uses, but I did find stuff nonetheless. I found a few more OoB with the original method. Then I found 2 other methods for clipping.

First off, I started finding these in ET. The first and second method are based on the same concept, sliding left or right as you hang on a ledge. From what I can tell, the game only checks for things in your way to the left when you try to move to the left (This is useful for Tetra). This only works when the wall you want to clip is perpendicular to the ledge you are one. By putting something on the other side of you (So far only Medli and Tetra) getting through walls becomes child's play (Quite a few places where these conditions are met).

To hopefully better illustrate what I mean try this (I found it this way). In the very first ET room (with Medli) on either edge of the second step's ledge place Medli very close to the wall below the ledge (Have fun figuring that out). Afterwards position yourself above Medli but closer to the wall you are clipping. Drop down so that you are in between the two and hanging on the ledge move left and right and there you go. You can get Medli through as well by picking her up.

This next method is harder, but it works in some places method 1 does not (Near the ET boss door, for example). Same place for the example. Now Medli is on top (They switch positions, basically) of the ledge very close to the edge and near the wall. Then grab the ledge closer to the wall and shimmy left and right.

Third method is really simple. Just find a tight place (mainly near ET doors, but there are other spots) and set Medli down. If there is a wall the game tries to move Link to make room. If a wall is in Link's way then Medli is clipped through. This works without Link being in a corner, but you have to line up very well. No way to get Link through as well.

I messed up before. The "Hey I am up here!" call is normal, but all the other stuff is true.

I found what I call the flashing block glitch. Push a stone block so that it falls on an enemy dropped orb. The block will change colors as the orb does...

For there only being one room you can clip through more things with Tetra, I just found out. None of them lead to falling into a void. In a few places this lets you get inside the wooden railings. I really see no promise here. I see slightly more for ET.

Just have Tetra push you halfway through a wall as you shimmy toward her. Only works upstairs if I remember right, but we can get downstairs afterwards in a few places.

I guess I will move on to ToG and WT afterwards. Thoughts? Anything? New?
So you use Medli and Tetra to clip through walls? And you can clip them through walls? I remember I've done something similar with Makar. He clipped me through a wall and I clipped him through. Oh yeah, and tell us about the boss key skip you were talking about.

Yes, except I can't get Tetra through.

You clipped Makar? I may just try looking for stuff there as well. This would be a lot harder to set up, but I think orb clipping could work. O got nothing for the boss key skip. I can only get through a superficial wall and the walls that surround the area are still in the way.

I am close to getting around the EGL stone in the room with all the bats. I can get Medli to the door, but not Link. Of course it would have no use.
Yeah I was close to skipping the FW boss key and the same with the EGL stone. I'll look into this stuff. Been years since I last played the WW.

Possible WT timesaver, I have. Not worth it in an SS, and it looks too hard to not lose time with in a segmented. TAS only? The most North East room on the 1st floor. The trick is basically skipping another tree. There are 4 places to plant trees, with the lowest being 1 and the highest being 4. Before the fastest way was to plant trees 2 and 4 only. Some time ago I found you could also do it with trees 1 and 2 or 1 and 3, but it takes longer. Well now you can do it with tree 2 only. You can glide from tree 2 to 3 and then jump from there to tree 4.

Odd Makar damage glitch. Trap a floor razor against a wall and let the fans blow Maker into it. As Makar is constantly being damaged pick him up at the right time and he will keep acting like the razor is damaging him. It stops if you set him down.

"Ledge clipping" works with Makar and dormant Armos, also. I may have a small key skip with this...

EDIT : You are right. I can't get through the wall anyways.
I think that's old. I;ve heard of that trick before. But I don't think the room will load on the other side for a small key skip.

Just a question. When you arrive on the Dragon Island (with Piaf, sorry if the name is wrong), have you 4 hearts ? Because me, when I kill the monster (Gohma) of the Island, i have 5 hearts Huh?

You can get 4 hearts when ariving at dragon roost, but it won't be used in a speedrun.

Okay, but you know this tech Smiley
I don't do speedrun, so I can take 4 hearths when I arrived on the Dragon Roost. It's better for me Grin

You could have asked me on aim, but either way I have not gotten to it (I will!). I am busy with other WW things, like what comes next.

I recently got the idea of soft reseting (Hold Start, B, X) after jumping in a void (Lava, in this case) so that we respawn at Outset instead of the room with the void.

A lot of this stuff I am 90% sure of. It miraculously worked I think on the second attempt. Link was getting back up like normally after jumping in lava yet it was at Outset, or at least someplace sunny. I had used DRC because it takes seconds to reach the lava and I had a file at that point.

Now to explain my 10% of uncertainty. I accidentally reset a second or two after it worked, so I am not sure where I was or what I could do. I kept trying this for an hour afterwards with no success. I could have been confused or hopeful and as a result my memory of it could be changing...

In other news I found a few more places to clip in the ET with Medli. One leads to a very small unplayable area behind a block. Ledge Clipping works with stone chus as well...
What sailing thing?  But yeah, I've worked with reseting the game before and had no sucess.
