O Zlda?
Quote from VL3commando:
So you are able to copy a slot to another one?

Yes. As long as it's where you left off.

Very early in the game it doesn't even need to be the same save, as long as it's in the same spot and all items in your inventory / abilities are equal. Example: if you get halfway through the run and want to redo segment 2, you can make a new file, play it up to where segment 1 ends, save, and record segment 2 off that file. Later on this is impossible due to item inventory and rupee counts... those values must stay the same between segments.

Slightly Faster 80 Rupee Route

Instead of getting the 20 rupees near the back dock, optimize your segment to get 20 rupees out of the pot just to the left of Zunari. It's sitting next to a tree. Saves roughly 4-5 seconds.

Woah. seriously? Awesome, I think I know which pot you mean, but it really saves that much time? Got to try this myself soon. Also these other sail route ideas you are just telling me are quite nice. Sadly thwy don't look like something one could really go back and replace segments with...
Five at the most if executed correctly. Btw, I'm looking into buying a new dvd recorder (one that's not a piece of shit) and a new tv probably. Once I do I MIGHT do a run of the game if I have the time. And if anyone's wondering the new route is not going to include the soup.
O Zlda?
Heh. If it comes down to needing an extra 8-10 seconds saved I will have to go back and redo 7 and 8, then.

I got a faster ET mirror room route now, I'm pretty sure. It involves moving 2 mirrors instead of 3, and the same number of Command Melodies (2). The trick that lets this happen is shining light on one of the sun's eyes AND a mirror with Medli. I would say this saves +30 seconds, however you skip the 50 rupees in the 2 pots. I don't know how reproducable this is (and if its SS doable, by extention)...

So there are 3 mirrors on the right side of the room : 1 is at the bottom (the light from the ceiling hits it), 2 is the one with the 4 wall chucks blocking it and 50 rupees behind it (skipped now), 3 is the mirror that ends up closest to the sun, once you move it all the way (its blocked by a statue).

Route : Enter the room with Medli, throw her on top of the central piller with the light switch (difficult, but worth it), then jump down. CM Medli, push the light switch, then run to where the light shines. Shine light on the statue blocking mirror 3, then run / fly on to mirror 3. Cancel CM. As Link push mirror 1 all the way into the slot, then push Mirror 3 all the way to the end untill it is 3 pushes from being tuck in the slot. Now get on top of the circle as Link to shine light on the left eye once the next part is done.

CM back to Medli, who should be on top of mirror 3 still. Now aim light at the right eye so that it also reflects off of the mirror thats in the way. Cancel CM, then as Link aim light at the left eye.

Is there a page that has the current WW route and tricks?
Doin Good
The first post has some routes, although they are pretty criptic. Here's a quick playlist of most of the trick videos on youtube.

About this mirror room route using the new trick, it may very well be too hard for segmenting, especially if the idea I just had had about the savewarps in ET pans out. Well, the TASers can use it one day...

I've been going through the segmented route and I've been able to do all the tricks and routes so far but I need just a few pointers.

The DRC Boss Key Shortcut is driving me crazy i've tried so many times but I just can't get the hang of it. I watched the video and it looks like the hook handle has been pulled out. This is the thing thats really stopping me.

The sail rupees. Is getting the 80 rupees from different places really quicker than just getting the 100 rupees from under the house? Isnt just going under the house and then save warping at the end of seg 1 quicker. If it isnt does anyone have a good method for picking up the rupees at the start of forsaken fortress.

Those are my only problems so far. Wink

DRC Boss Key Skip: Its doable even when the post is up. Quickspin the firsts set of ropes then the second (then the third? Its been a while). Turn around to face the lever you are jumping towards, then walk at a certain speed so you jump when the bridge breaks, and just coming short of grabbling the ledge (not to slow either). Once you are near the lever jumpslash to land on the grapple platform thing...

Getting 80 rupees is definatly faster, regardless of which of the 80 rupee route you do. I did a simple chart a few pages back, but Unreal can handle this part Smiley

Still working on that Triforce route, but I've made recent progress...

Which 80 rupees are we looking at?
Here's the route X

-Quickspin the log in the Forest of Faires next to the first bokoblin for 20 (shouldn't even take a second)
-Grab the 40 rupees out in the Forsaken Fortress courtyard (if done correctly should take around 10 seconds)
-Last 20 are just to the left of Zunari's Stall in a pot next to the tree (iirc you can quickspin through the wall to break the pot and get the rupee... not too sure)

The 80 rupee route is surprisingly 20 seconds faster than collecting the 100 under Granny's house. The crawling combined with the rupee text takes around a good 25 seconds.

Right sounds good. Nailed that trick finally I think it was getting the jump before the bridge snaps was were I was going wrong.

I can't remember if I saw this on a video or not but is there some kind of glitch were Link can get stuck in the boss's and kill them quickly (Like OoT) or is the 2 cycle thing the only way. Whats the technique for hitting them B B QS B B or summit like that.

A majority of the bosses cannot be single cycled such as Ghoma and Molgera among others (They can only take a certain amount of hits then retreat). The quickest way to take down bosses are to simply use quickspins. Kalle Demos and The Helmaroc King are the only bosses I know of that can be single cycled so far.

Ghoma: Two Cycles
Kalle Demos: SC
Ghodan: 3 cycles (iirc you can shoot his eyes and hands before he shoots the bombs)
Phantom Ganon: Two Cycles (keep him grounded)
Helmaroc King: SC (after mask falls) Btw it is possible to keep the bird grounded for a quick mask battle
Jalhalla: 3 cycles
Molgera: 4 cycles (you can grab his tongue and damage him while he flys back into the ground)
Puppet Ganon: The regular 3. On the first phase only shoot down the tail string. (you can shoot his tail while he is falling)
Ganon: Ganon Battle Strategy

But too answer your question, no, I'm not familiar with a video like that of any sort.

Yer fair enough I wasn't really sure anyway.  Thanks for the boss info.
hey all. i think im going to join this chat n start helping u guys. is there any parts you guys are stuck on? like a sequence break or something?
MrGrunz is a guay
For anyone that wasn't in the irc this weekend, I went through the game and tried to find some SB's with cd streaming since it seems nothing else will break the game and still got nothing.  I came close to Ballad of Gales skip and southern fairy island bomb upgrade before bombs but nothing and I tested a shitload of ideas.  I can't see this game being broken Sad

random question, but how much time of a WW speed run is made up of cutscenes and other inevidable timewasters? I feel like playing this game again Tongue

JUICEJUICE!!!!!  Cheesy Grin Wink Smiley

anyways.....

Not really sure how much time cutscenes make up in a speedrun. My guess would be around 30 minutes or so.... but that's just me guessing... Were you thinking of running WW Juice?
Keep it classic.
wow. i was typing almost the exact same thing and it said warning - someone posted a new comment  Grin

anyway, unreal i was trying to look at the tricks you have on youtube but you must have erased your acc or what?

10 minutes before you gain control I think (seems awefully long though). Its 40 - 45 minutes from control before you even enter the first dungeon, Dragon Roost Cavern. I'd say there is half an hour of sailing once you beat the last temple (Wind temple) where you fix the MS. You beat said temple in 3:50 to 4:20. Then comes the post game. Thats about 2 hours of a lot of sailing, salvaging, and dramatic cutscenes, with intense action sprinkled throughout.

sTuNxX :
Its aquick playlist I made of various WW tricks a good while ago. I'm sure a number are unavalible since Unreal deleted his old account.
Keep it classic.
Thanks. I've tried a couple of em' already like the rock skip and DRC quick boss key. Not to hard yet ;D.
Were any of Unreals tricks MAJOR or just little timesavers?

They were mostly small timesavers. The only big video probably was the Bokoblin Fight in Forest of Faires done in 3 seconds. I did have the original DRC Boss Key Skip but ZFG obsoleted it 40 minutes after its discovery. >___>
