In no way can I beat games fast.
So, I was reading this topic earlier, and a guy asked if a Wii Sports speed run was possible. Most people claimed it wasn't.

But I just thought of something. Maybe a 100% speed run would be quickest to PRO (or maybe even maxed-out stats) and all platinum medals.

I'm not sure if anyone would be up to this. I know I wouldn't, as I suck at speed running, but, yeah. It's an idea, I guess.

No
What part of "No defined end" do people not realise?

And who says it stops when you get to Pro?
[Insert text here]
Even if it were possible it wouldn't be that interesting... save that stuff for super plays or something.
No.  This si the equivalent of a speed run of Mario Party.
It sounds both interesting and reasonable to me.  There's stuff to unlock so it's kinda a defined end when everything is unlocked.  I'm sure if you could make it seem both clear(as a speedrun with a definate goal) and interesting(doing things that substantially change the overall time) that you could get it accepted.
Yoshi's eggs are at my mercy!
Alright, his 100% idea is unreasonable. But I have pondered, how about the training modes, specifically Bowling. 3rd training for bowling does provide a definite end (20 lanes), and the less time spent messing up and setting up shots provides a better time...
Existence as you know it is over
But then you could just make hasty deliberate misses to lower the time, and aiming for high score is something cyberscore.net would cover.
i agree that some of the sports trainings are ok, like the picking up spares bowling.

i think golf could merit a speedrun, i remember they had that feature on mario golf where strokes didn't matter but time did. golf certainly ends when all 9 holes are complete.

but a speedrun to get pro as fast as possible would be ridiculously dumb. you wouldn't want to take your time to bowl 300's on bowling, on tennis you would want to miss on purpose often, boxing would be extremely boring, and baseball... oh.. my.. god..

so overall i would say no except for rare exceptions.
There's "defined ends", but only in specific areas of the game.  The entire game itself can't be ran.
All bowling and golf training modes do have an end, so it would be possible to run, am I right? Then you should get platinum medal as fast as possible but it sound pointless to me. Wii Sports isn't really that kind of game you sould speed run. You better send your high scores to TG...
i would like to see a Wii Sports Golf 9 Holes run.
Is this topic seriously still going on?

To the above poster... a speed run of 9 holes?  Are you kidding me?  Would you want to see a speed run of an exhibition game of Madden?  Of course not, it doesn't make sense.
a 9-hole golf run does make a lot of sense, and i would be interested in watching it.
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Sometimes you just wanna see a speed run of a game that just cant be speed run. I think this is one of them.
Can we stop discussing impossible runs like this, like they did with WoW?

9 Holes is a whole game of Wii Sports Golf.
WSGolf's holes are designed rather unusually for a golf game - esspecially the final third.
And to do it fast requires skill and practice. that's what would make it interresting. i don't even think adding a sub-par rule is neccessar, because the fewer the swings, the faster the run.

I just tried doing a practice run of tennis, going all the way to Pro status, and it took about 29 minutes based on the clock in my TV room. I have played way more than my fair share of Wii Tennis, however. It would be quite interesting to see how it could be improved upon, including tricks like getting fast serves and such. I think it's a versatile game to speedrun.

EDIT: Getting to Pro status as fast as possible I think would also be viable as a run as well as the training mode parts. This was also glitchless on my part, but I'm not aware of any time-saving glitches even in the game.

ANOTHER EDIT: I just realized this thread was last touched in 2007
Here's gold 9 hole record. Just because this is the thread that popped up in google, I'll post it here.
