Hey i'm planning to buy a computer and I would like to know if a ASUS 7300 gs will do the job to record.
The other pieces are:
Sempron 3400+ Socket 754 64BITS

MOTHERBOARD : Msi K8MM-V K8M800 S754 Vga (Pcie) 2DDR Aud,LAN

And a 1 gig ram 3200(to be replace by 2 gig soon after)

I dont want to have problem with game like FEAR
and doom3 (which i know will run in a ultra quality)

Other wise show me some new cards cause i dont know any other stuf because im a bit old with computer! :-/

Thanks a lot and sorry if it isnt the good place to start a new topic!

EDIT: The real card is 7300GS ASUS EN7300GS/HTD/256M, PCI-E GEFORCE 7300GS,
256MB DDR2, 64 BIT, TV-OUT, DVI, TURBOCACHE  256MB

To be honest 7300GS will barely be able run Doom 3 in medium quality, and I really doubt you will be able to play FEAR at all (unless a mean frame rate of 15 is ok to play with). 7300GS is low-end low budget card. Looking at benchmarks you will probably have to go at least one step higher than 7600GS if you want to record anything.

A 7600GT or an equivalent ATI card would be the minimum to go with.

EDIT: What should I look for when im buying a video card?

Wouldn't going with Dual-Core be a smart move for future games?

I suggest getting a motherboard with SLI support in case you decide to have two graphics cards.

Just because the model number is higher doesn't mean the card is faster than a card with a lower number. For example, my 2 year old 6800GT is still heaps faster than a 7600 card. IF you can find a 6600GT that card will do for Doom 3, or even better a 6800GS, the problems is that these cards are phased out now which means they are very hard to find in any store.

Edit: It would really help if you could tell us how much money you can spend on your system, so we know how much we must limit the price on the products we recommend.

And what you don't need to buy.. like your monitor, probably.

alrighty i have 500$ (canadian dollars)a seller tell me taht a 7300 have a 30% more power than a 6600 which must be false cause youre all blaming that 7300GS lol Tongue
i just have to buy the CPU ,mother board, case with the power supply and ram.Low budget iknow but...
I can easily find a 6600gt but i want a card that will run tomb raider legend with the next gen shit turned on and a minimal resolution of 1024 for all game.

EDIT: memory :Memoire 1 Gig PC 3200 105.96 $

cpu : Sempron 3400+ Socket 754 64Bits      115.56 $

MOTHERBOARD :
Msi K8MM-V K8M800 S754 Vga (Pcie) 2DDR Aud,Lan      61.18 $
+ a dvd drive 30$ lets say 35$ for the case or whatever you call it
does a 7300GT will do....

If the Brand doesnt matter get a ATI X1600 Pro/XT. Is far superior in anyway to that crap card.

Or a cheap 7600 GS. Yeah I know it's almost double the price. But you will regret getting a 7300 in no time.
It's just a bottleneck to your CPU which is superior in anyway to the 7300.

Let me just say it like that: It's like buying a ferrari with a VW Golf engine....

EDIT: After some research that is what I found:

F.E.A.R. Autodetect Settings:
Effects Detail: Minimum
Model Decals: Off
Water Resolution: Medium
Reflections and Displays: Minimum
Volumetric Lights: Off
Volumetric Light Density: Minimum
FSAA: Off
Light Detail: Minimum
Enable Shadows: On
Shadow Detail: Medium
Soft Shadows: Off
Texture Filter: Trilinear
Texture Resolution: Medium
Videos: Medium
Resolution: 800 x 600
Shaders: Medium
At the above setting the in game F.E.A.R. test demo gave the following results:

Minimum Frame Rate: 18 FPS
Average Frame Rate: 31 FPS
Maximum Frame Rate: 61 FPS
18% of the time was below 25 FPS
73% of the time was between 25 and 40 FPS
9% of the time was above 40 FPS

And Quake4:

Settings:
Resolution: 1024 x 768
Quality: Medium
Anisotropic Filtering: None
Antialiasing: None

At the end of the test run, the EVGA 7300 GS scored a playable 37.8 FPS
TIOLET!
Ouch! Now that's a tight budget if I've ever seen one, and I really hate to say this but you will have to give up "1024x768 in all games" right away if you want to play with somewhat smooth frame rates. Of course I don't know much about hardware prices in north America but looking at the prices we have here the best you seem to be able to get is a 7600GS or a X1600XT. Both of them are somewhat mediocre cards, they will get the job done but don't expect "ZOMG 1337 gfx!!!11oneone" Roll Eyes

Still alive...
Check out my Edit in the above post. Thats a benchmark with a AMD FX-60 and 2 Gigs of Ram.

A X1300 is about 5 FPS faster. Which still is crap.

Do you really want to get a PC where you can play Doom3 at 20 FPS? If you want that then I'm not holding you back. Otherwise get a 100 bucks more and you're all set.

And I do have a ATI x800 GTO2 (which is overclocked to a X850 XT) and never ever had heat problems.
DOUBLE POST SHIT....

Seek trough tath link and see whats best i would appreciate if you could write the name card and price here thanks guys maybe the light will shine on me or my soul will burn in hell forever...lol
TIOLET!
Keeping in mind that you actually want to record a speedrun with the system, saving up another 100 bucks is probably the best you can do. If you don't you will most likely be very disappointed with the end result.
Still alive...
Here you go:

7600GS eVGA 256-P2-N541 Geforce 7600GS 256MB 256-bit DDR2 PCI Express x16 VideoCard

It's a whopping 143 bucks. from the link you provided.
Just search for "7600GS" and scroll down a bit and you'll find it.
More for that cash is probably impossible...
This card will do or it will just give me 5 fps more...
Still alive...
It will give more than 3 times the FPS....

The geforce 7300 Gt have a good benchmark for a low-end card she passed fear ,doom 3 ,hal-life 2 and splinter cell hands up...look...

http://www.clubic.com/article-36242-4-geforce-a-moins-de-130-euros-7300-gt-7600-gs.html

So i think ill go with her and in the future a SLI 7800 gt...

EDIT: THe overclocking with the 7300 GT is very easy and give 25% more power with doom 3 and stuff so.....its worth it! Tongue
TIOLET!
I checked up a couple of more benches to get a better view. Yes the 7300GT is a very good card for its price and definetely an alternative, too bad that card doesn't exist where I live... yet Tongue
Wait a bit kikumbi she's on the store since july 4 here so next week she will be on the shelves for you.... Tongue
