I figured this would be an interesting question to ask everybody. Where'd your online nickname come from? Is there a story behind it? I'll start with me.

poCari isn't actually my nick, it's just some name I made up for StarCraft one day (I also had YouGG[WGTour] for awhile, but that's besides the point). My actual nick is "acid_falcon." When I was a kid, I used to play Descent, Doom, Doom 2, Red Alert and Duke Nukem with my family all the time in deathmatches. I was trying to think of a name for my Descent profile, and I randomly came up with acid_falcon. Mostly because I thought it sounded cool. Then a few years later when I first joined battle.net, it was my very first account name. I even went on to join a Counter-Strike server with that name. I had no idea what the hell to do in CS, and I kept on dying. The CTs were trying to get the hostages back to the spawn point, and I jumped out from behind a box and shot the guy with a shotgun. A bunch of people in the server yelled "YEAH FALCON!!!!" Then on StarCraft, I was enrolled in a bunch of clans. One of the best ones split apart, and I didn't talk to a bunch of my team mates for awhile. But one day I met up with a couple of them again in a random game of Matrix Defense, then the rest of them. Strange how I joined the channel, and the exact same thing, "FALCON!!!"

I dunno, just a lot of history and good times with the nickname I suppose. My real life nickname is "TheDONK." I thought it up while I was demolishing my friends at SSB and Mario Party 2, and it's stuck ever since then.

So those are my stories, what about you people? Tongue

Psychochild's got no real history behind it.

I liked it when I made it at 14, been too lazy to think up a new one after almost five years (Plus, I don't want to spend all day at my next lan explaining that I'm not Psychochild, but rather "The Jackass formerely known as Psychochild").  I just got too many people who know me too well as this certain name, and it'd be too much of a hassle to just change it.
Like A Fox
My friend came over to play cs and asked me what his name should be.  I typed in "jimsfriend" and never bothered to change it to anything else on my steam account.  Then I started using it on D2, forums, morrowind, everywhere I need a name.  Sometimes I type it as "friend of jim" though... mix it up a little.
Visually Appealing
I combined Satoru and Ryu to make my name. I chose those two because they fit well.
Never give up!
Okay.

AquaTiger's not my regular nickname, and I shall refrain from explaining how I came to pick that one.  When I started going onto forums for the first time a number of years ago, the first forum I ever went to was a forum for the Gameboy game Dragon Warrior Monsters.  Needing a nickname for it, I chose 'Divinegon', the strongest Dragon-type monster in the original game.  I also threw in a few random numbers at the end that I don't recall offhand.  As I mingled with other forums, that nickname eventually got shortened all the way to 'Div', and by that time I was assisting as a website programmer, so I let that stick.  (Technically I still correspond with the forum where my nickname ultimately got shortened.)

As for AquaTiger?  I switched nicknames because I thought the Divinegon nickname, after probably six years of use, was finally wearing itself out.

If you really insist on knowing why I chose 'AquaTiger', you'll have to PM me.
I first come up with Hitaro when I was 12 or something. We just got internet connection at home and I (for some reason) decided to join Neopets. Back then, I was "OMFG JAPANESE : D" so I chose this.

And I like Hitaro ):
Still alive...
Well my Nick is from the times where i used to play Return to Castle Wolfenstein a lot.  And i wanted somthing NO ONE ever had.
But before this one it was BloodyBastard. Then it was BloodyB4st4rd. ANd the one i know use was the last "transfomation".
I just got used to it and use it on forums and in my CS clan and on various other games.

And it has a little bit of truth in it. Wink
But i wont tell you what it is.
King n00b!
Main Entry: ap·a·thy
Pronunciation: 'a-p&-thE
Function: noun
Etymology: Greek apatheia, from apathEs without feeling, from a- + pathos emotion -- more at PATHOS
1 : lack of feeling or emotion : IMPASSIVENESS
2 : lack of interest or concern : INDIFFERENCE

I use a dif name on most forums.. I was bored, and decided to alias on UnrealTournament for a while, so I changed it to this. I started using it so often that it became pretty permanent. Every online game I play, I pretty much use this name.
If it's taken, I put an X in front, and back. If taken, I throw in some I's Grin

I'm pretty much the oposite of the name.
TIOLET!
I read about "Kibumbi" in a paper about african mythology and just thought it sounded nice.
When I played OoT for the first time and went to DarkLink, I gave my nickname DarkLink. When I played Perfect Dark, little time after that I removed the Link from the DarkLink to get to Dark. I know lot of people use that name, but that's how I got to it.

like....gah... ._.
"wired" isn't my nickname either. I usually go by naughty_hanyou on most forums but for SDA.....I chose wired for some reason....even though....it's really stupid and sounds like I'm trying to be some stupid wannabe hacker or something. If I ever do a run I might change it to naughty etc.

Anyways, my cousin was over and we were playing Goldeneye and he said that I played like I was wired on speed or something (lawl)...even though when he looked at me I was just sitting there calmly.

Edit: "wired" is partially from Lain.

<3 Megaman
Xinserz, most people call me Xin (pronounced zin). Im actually ashamed of where i got it from lol. I made it up when i was like 8 and had all these pokemon cards, and had one called "pinser" and since my 2 fav letters are X and Z i added them to it lol.

Ironiclly enough they relate to my fav video game, Megaman X lol.

Eternal Understudy
Suzaku Mirani is the main character from my comic (now a webcomic) www.elementalitycomic.com (he goes by Zak).
The name 'Suzaku' comes from the Japanese name for Zhu Que (or Phoenix, as it is in english) Which is the chinese God of the south who can be ressurected from its ashes.
Mirani is just a name I made up to be Zak's last name.

My only two other online names are for when I play Unreal with my friends which are GuyWhoDiesALot (I suck royally at FPS') and TeamKillPhil.

Back when I used to have a 28k8 modem, I still played a lot of online games (e.g. Quake, Subspace/Continuum). Surprise, surprise, many people noticed my lagassness, and I've had the nickname since. So I guess that's about 9 years.
Hi! I'm andrewg!
andrewg just because it is short for Andrew Gardikis. no other reason really. otherwise i would have a nick name like "marioman" or something.
m00
9 or 10 years ago, when I was about 14, I had my first experiences with the internet and webchats at school, and I quickly needed a nick. Took me 10 seconds to grab 3 words that somehow fit to me, take the first letters, and get TUB.

since those 3 words lost their meaning I usually call myself Tub instead of TUB now, so it looks more like a name and less like an abbreviation.

I don't really like the nick, much less after the TeleTubbies appeared on television, but since it became my reallife-nick I can hardly change it anymore.

whenever Tub is occupied I use the nick rohcQaH. It's a klingon word written backwards. Foolproof way of getting a nick that's always free.

Aww, it's not from Lain? I thought it was, since your avatar was from an anime.

Here's where I found mine:
Zelda Scientist®
Misspelled "Acres" when typing in the dark about 4 years ago. Though it sounded pretty sweet, so I used it. Before that I was kind of into hacking so my name before it was Magicrash and I also went by Myrkrid for a while but those are lame names.
:wq
Mine comes from the name of a character in the movie "Heavy Metal".  I tried it out to replace my old name, and it stuck pretty quick.

One of my friends always greets me with "Sterrrrnnn!", as uttered by another character in the movie.
dinosaur from the past
Do I have to explain that I made this nick when I was pretty young?
Like A Fox
Is there any significance to the number 348... such as how many licks it took you to get to the center of a tootsie roll pop?  Or was it just random number?
The BaldurManiac
My name used to be Lance-Murdoc, then Murdoc... But i found problems using the name Murdoc because alot of people used them on different games and email accounts, so i Started calling myself ImaMurdoc, then then followed The Murdoc, and the new version followed as DA MURDOC... and then DAMURDOC.

But ive been using DAMURDOC for a while so i dont think I'm gonna change it  Lips Sealed

The man made of sticks
From the character in my avatar, even though it isn't his complete name.  STX stands for the Stickmen, a former QWCA and Q3DM clan that doesn't compete anymore.
Hey. I don't think my nickname needs much explanation, unless you know nothing about a certain weapon...

Seriously though, I chose it after being named Technical Support moderator at the Commandos Dropzone. Why? My favorite character from Commandos is Tread and he can use molotov cocktails.

I've abused this nickname a little too much, but I doubt I'll retire it anytime soon (or ever, who knows). I have others such as Anub'arak and LameImitation, but I won't go into any of those (unless someone really wants to know that is).
My screen name has 3 parts to it.

Metal = I absolutely love, and may be obsessed with, heavy metal music.
Smasher = One time I let my friend borrow one of my CDs, and he said it pumped him up so much it made him want to smash stuff. Also, my love for Super Smash Bros. may have had something to do it. Plus, it just sounds cool.
86 = I was born in 1986.
