Excellent!
I couldn't find a topic for this so I'll go ahead and make this. First off I should mention that you can record off a real VB by doing a hardmod you can find information about it here: http://furrtek.free.fr/?a=vbtvout

This game has a total of 14 floors (levels), 4 of which are boss levels. The objection in any% would be to get the key and get to the exit, I assume 100% (Best Ending) would include collecting all the treasures in each level (collecting the max amount of coins is pointless since the treasures overrides the amount of coins needed at the end of the game). I've been playing with this game off and on for about six or so months, mostly on emulator since I don't have the money or soldering skills to hardmod my VB. That aside I've borrowed a hand full of strats from the TAS video and implanted some myself in some areas.

Here is a video of my latest run done in 23:22 real timing (in-game: 22:01) timing starts the moment I enter the door and ends on the 5th hit on the final boss (done on emulator, white and black mode to shield your eyes):

The problems in this run are:

Level 7 - There is a troll Dragon Wario powerup in the water, there is no other exit down here and you have to go here for the key. The TAS gets around it by bouncing off the walls, which is harder said than done. So what I used to do was get the powerup, take damage by the nearby fish, get the key, go to the left for Eagle Wario and go on as normal. Though this means you lose out on Bull Wario, so it's better to just get the Dragon wario powerup after getting the key and getting hit. Can anyone confirm if Mini Wario moves faster than Big Wario?

Level  9 - Nothing big here, it's RNG based how soon the enemies will give you a watermelon.

Level 11 - Is bit of a dozy, I had some trouble with it's straight forward and doesn't seem to be RNG based with the platforms.

Level 13 - The hardest level in the game to do right and well, I had serious issues here my strats here involve doing what the TAS does.

Level 14 (Final Boss) - This guy is a pain. His attack patterns are always RNG, you can hit him right after he spits fire but it's a bit riskier and even more so if he moves off the screen. You can also get a early hit on him at the beginning of the fight. One other thing you can do is after you hit him, if you are lucky and are standing in the right place, when he starts to fall back down you can quickly jump and hit him I refer to this as the TAS strat.

Frankly, I think a time of sub 22 (real timing) can happen right now. If anyone has been playing with this please let me know what you've got as well.

SPEEDruns not SAFEruns
Dude. This is amazing. Maybe I can mod my VB and start doing some stuff haha
Excellent!

Yeah, I'm going to do that myself at some point just not right now. This game is good. Smiley
If you're gonna start speedrunning VB stuff, you should do Jack Bros (although that game is expensive).

That would be fun too! I'm in the process of trying to get every VB game, and jack bros is a great addition
Excellent!

I did play with that one a bit too. As Wario Land and Jack Bros (and Mario Clash) are the three games I own on VB.

Think it's a good time to update this. VlackSR discovered a lot of speed kills for the bosses and used Eagle Wario for the majority of the run.  He did figure out a way to control where the final boss lands as well, wrecking Level 13 and among others.

He managed to knock it down to a low 20 minutes, to be honest I didn't even think it was possible and it was something else during the live stream.

Going to be difficult to beat his time.
