Hey, with the Writer's Guild strike still going on, it might not be long before we see something like that.

Original video clip comes from here and should be viewed there because youtube's video quality sucks.

I was about to say that. And yes it is a very well done trailer spoof. Show it to all your friends; everyone understands it Smiley

1:12 - Power Pad, lol

Lots of other Nintendo goodies in there as well, like the guy using a Game Boy as a walkie-talkie. They totally fucked up the Konami Code though =[

This is quite shameless of me, but I see no other (good) way to share my video with people who may want to see it. So here I am, spamming links to a split .rar with a video of the Final Chapter of Fire Emblem: Thracia 776 (part of an AAA playthrough):

Part 1.
Part 2.
Part 3.
Part 4.

(Video runtime: 25:28)
(MP4 filesize: 16.4 MB)

Parts 1 and 2 have .rar.zip on them because Geocities doesn't accept .rar (ARGH). I forgot to fix this when I started using YouSendIt, so part 2 is affected for that reason.

Also, I wanted to cut down on filesize because of my poor upload speed and such, so the result is a low bitrate MP4 that was butchered down to 15 frames per second. I used B-pyramid and HE+PS AAC audio (24), so I guess morons Quicktime lovers are out of luck.

Worth noting is that this isn't meant to be quick when it comes to real-time, because I basically winged the entire thing after some tries that didn't make it. That, and I know I could've saved a turn if I hadn't been so stupid at the end. I also did this on Elite Mode, if that means anything to the viewer.

Anyway, if someone enjoys this (I hope so), I'd appreciate it if they would upload it to a more permanent place. As it is now, parts 2 - 4 will expire pretty quickly, and I'll likely delete part 1 sometime in the future.

If nobody likes it, then I guess no harm is done. Tongue

everybody wanna tell you the meaning of music
Plagnus linked to this in another thread before (sorta).

These are really cool, even though it's not an original idea and even though he sorta "cheats" with percussion drawing the shapes and instruments created just for one particular color. Still cool though.

The MM2 he linked was an unfortunate example though, since it was the only one where the visual didn't provide anything. If you like the MMX1/2 TAS, you'll like these, because it's a similar concept. (one input controls both video and audio in this, one input controls both MMX1 and MMX2 in the TAS)
It's-a me, Stalin!
Nice videos, very impressive.

Carc pointed out that this should probably be stickied so here it is, and I'm bumping it to the top so people see it.

Hey, Enhasa... I asked Nate about this a loooong time ago, but I think Radix denied it.  This thread borders on said idea, so I thought it'd make a decent place to reintroduce it.

Do you think we could have a sticky thread for speedruns hosted on other sites (like vortiginous, or course) or for runs which have only been posted in the forums?  I believe Radix's reasoning was that the hosting of such a thread would imply that SDA is condoning 'unofficial' runs or runs which do not technically qualify for SDA's explicit standards... something like that, IIRC.  Forgive me, Nate, if I'm completely off-base.

Would this be possible?  I assume a modicum of rules would be in order, like no TAS's or something of that nature, but I'd think a topic like that would be a logical addition to our wall of stickies.  Unless of course, we have too many stickies as it is, in which case we could just dump such speedrun links into this thread.  Just an idea.

Hmm, I don't know, what do other people think? The PC forum already kinda has such a thread right? Maybe such threads should go in newer and older as well.

I mean, I don't mind, but there would be some kind of overlap if there was this thread + outside speedruns thread. I think either stick them in here, or do the PC forum "runs collected" thing.
it's either the forum or the kb ... there are problems with both. i don't think officiality would be that big of a deal because those sites aren't speeddemosarchive.com and their videos don't have sda statids (at least i certainly hope they don't). if you're stupid enough to think we are doing anything more than a friendly service by linking to other sites then you need to kill yourself immediately because you are a threat to the gene pool. imho. but yeah, kb, anyone can edit, forum, only first poster can edit. your call.

waitwhuaaaaaa~?

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Nate?
It would be great if my thread on pc forum can be moved to kb because keeping it updated is getting too much for me. I have to check the threads of games I'm not familiar or interested. So I support making an 'unofficial' speedruns section on kb.
My feelings on The Demon Rush
Suga, TheVoid offered to take over the thread so I gave it to him instead. I don't think the thread needs to be transferred to the kb, but if TheVoid doesn't want to run the thread anymore, we can transfer it.
Okay, thanks Wink

Doing it for a site, and cause I haven't played this game in a while.

Just something stupid I did for a bet awhile back. Could you beat the MMX bosses without dashing, and without damage? To which the answer is obviously yes, but that didn't stop it from being a pain in the ass to do. >_>
How did you skip the leg upgrades though? I thought that one was mandatory.
There's a password wherein Sigma's Fortress is available but X has no upgrades/items.

4723 2486 1324 if you're interested. Try getting through Sigma's Fortress without the leg upgrade. Classic Mega Man, hell yeah!

You'll notice in the Chill Penguin battle I have the leg upgrade, and in the Fortress battles after Vile I have the arm upgrade. There's no way to avoid picking them up for those situations.

This may be a belated response...but meh.

I would be in favor of such an idea.  Either kb or a sticky thread sounds good, but I would prefer the latter.  On that note, I believe it should include non-speedrun video links, such as no-miss runs, walkthroughs, and yes, even tool assisted speedruns.  The reason being the purpose of such a database should be efficiency, not introductory (though descriptions of each category should be included).  Failure to discriminate between speedruns and tool assisted speedruns would occur in spite such a database, not because of it.

Is that really necessary when you can use one single link to link to 99.9% of all tool-assisted videos?

It is necessary when you make a post based on an assumption that turns out not to be true. Tongue
