New World Record on Speedrun.com.

Speedrun.com has a category for a single-sitting run of Vandal Hearts. No pauses and no saves. The old record was 6h 37m 57.58s by a gentleman from France named Vandalnabilo.

On 9/18/25, I completed a playthrough of the game in 6h 6m 24.00s. Here is the video of my run.

"Speedrun.com has a category for a single-sitting run of Vandal Hearts." Wait, were you thinking SDA wouldn't accept a SS run then?
I wasn't sure. When I first got the idea to speed run the game, I looked at speedrun.com first, mostly because I knew people from the Dr. Mario community that had runs on there.  And there were just a couple of Vandal Hearts runs on there. All single-sitting. No mention of segments.

Then I searched for similar sites and I found Speed Demos. When I searched Vandal Hearts, Zenic Reverie's segmented run was the only thing I found. So I  guess I assumed that was the only category that Speed Demos cared about. So I decided I wanted to try for both, and I thought it would be fun to do the segmented first and then do the full playthrough.
Ah, right, that's the correct order to go in my view as well: segmented first, then SS. So basically Speedrun.com is more or less hostile to segmented runs, but SDA isn't, which makes us the go-to for those. BUT it needs to be realized that the SDA game pages only feature categories that anyone has submitted a run in. The rules page goes into more detail on this. The 4th link here.

And thus SS runs are actually allowed for any whichever game. The same rules apply re. clean audio and video etc. Feel free to ask any questions!
Cool. Well to be honest I'm not that happy with my 6h 6m run. I know I can improve it. When I get a run I really like, I'll submit it to SDA for the new category. Thanks.
