Right, so one update I managed to finish a few weeks ago. I'm going to Japan for 10 weeks coming up, but I'm hoping to have some time to put out another update while there. I wish we had another updater or other new helpers. Sorry it's taking so long, but yours will be in the next update!
OK. I don't mind. It takes as long as it takes. It must be hard not having enough people to help.
Here is the deal. I lowered the Single Segment run down to 5h 55m. I think that a 5h45m run is possible. That is of course an ANY% category run.
I am currently working a 100% Category Single Segment run. It includes Finding 6 Keys and playing 6 Bonus Levels to Advance the Main Character to a secret Class. I'm confident that this can be done in less than 7 Hours.
I hope to complete that 100% run in the next month.
Then, I am fully committed to improving my single segment run that I submitted to you. I've been playing the game a lot in the past year, and I know I can improve the run that I sent you. Maybe by as much as 5 minutes or more.
So maybe don't include my run in the next update. I'd like a chance to improve it. Most of the levels will be the same, or involve very small tweaks. But there are a couple of levels where I could employ a new strategy and get some relatively significant time saves.
Ah okay, so in that case we could cancel the previous submission, or we can leave it hanging and just change the file and do another verification in this same thread, both have been done, but it's always better to keep waiting until you truly feel like you're done with improvements before publishing.
Has the 100% definition that's been used always been "advance the main character to [the secret class]"? Does that change the ending somehow as well?
Let's leave it hanging. Give me a month or so to see how much I can improve my previous submission.
As it stands there is no current official category anywhere for a 100% run of this game. But completing the 6 Bonus Levels does then include every possible level, and advancing the main character to the secret "Vandalier" class is the ultimate achievement that can be done in the game. It doesn't change the ending of the game, but it changes the way you play the last chapter (Last 4 levels) because the main character becomes overpowered. I did discuss the best definition of 100% with the moderator of the Vandal Hearts speedrun.com page, and he agreed that getting the 6 secret keys and completing the 6 Bonus Levels was a good definition for 100%.
