Hi again guys, I recently stumped upon a great little game called Valdis Story, after looking around a bit, a few people here and there seem to be running it but was shocked to see no one has posted about it yet.

"Assume the role of Wyatt in this Action/Exploration Platformer as you explore the ruins of a holy city that was lost many years ago. Battle various types of demons, angels, and a new threat known only as the “Ferals”, using swordsmanship, martial arts, and sorcery. There are many customizable skills and equipment that will aid Wyatt on his journey."

So there seems to be 4 total classes/characters but I believe 2 are yet to be added as dlc or something leaving 2 characters Wyatt the warrior and Reina Gaius a monk.

Apart from the great art the first thing that struck me was the difficulty I went God Slayer to start with and a small pack of mobs tore me down not even past the first boss yet so I rolled normal, while I was new and the death was me not being used to the game God Slayer is no joke.

I think this could be a pretty beast game to run and really thinking about having a go myself the only thing holding me back is I honestly think it's that good that in a few weeks there will be quite a community around it as its only just started getting reviews in the last couple of days and been getting some great spotlight with steam sales.

Anyone played it? running it? routing it? think it's a good game too run? just getting some idea's and putting out some feelers to whether or not ill start to route it.

Hi there! There are a few runners of it currently as i know of. I run it and also JingerTV, T_caramel and Icyd3mon. I have a pretty steady route for wyatt normal/godslayer but it can surely be improved!

The game is fun to run, and has mild RNG, only the Treu fight is abit...trollish.

I started running it but slowly realized the controls are programmed pretty awful for gamepad use. It seems the button presses simply emulate keyboard arrows, which leads to some pretty awkward platforming, though I dare say runners of old school games won't have a problem with this.

The fastest route also uses a wrong warping glitch, which is anything but consistent atm.

Been playing this a bunch, also found that youtube playlist with glitches, but it seems most of them are fixed already. Is that gonna be the fate of this game, every useful glitch or strat getting fixed and the run devolving into grinding to 20?

@Onin I'd think they'd only fix glitches that break the natural progress of the game like the wrong warping glitch. At least I hope so, I haven't heard from the developers.

As for the game, it's currently the game I'm thinking of getting into speedrunning with, so I'd love more information on other speedrunners and their routes. Thanks to MrPompon for those shoutouts, I'll check 'em out.

Being able to skip whole bosses is pretty nice. I'm too busy watching agdq to give it a go, so I'll just hope it's still working when I start running it.

Hi everyone,

I forgot to watch out SDA forums, usually being focused on the game forums, and didn't see there is activity there as well.

So first, I need to provide you some explanations about Valdis Story glitch run and how does it change with upcoming updates.

• The Decoy Warp : this is the glitch you were referring as "wrong warping" and "screen warp". This glitch has a huge lot of uses and that's why, seeing how the developper were patching every glitch he saw on YT and twitch (which is totally legit), I contacted him and asked him not to patch the Decoy Warp. So throughout the updates, this should not be patched and a lot of skips will be kept alive. However, it already has been patched in Goibniu mode so you can't fool the leaderboards (which is, once again, absolutely legit).

• With the game being constantly patched and rebalanced, I personally chose to keep an unupdated DRM-free version (1.00.20) of the game in order to run it without having to change my route and my strats every two months. Moreover, the run is a lot funnier to run with its full glitch potential. I may switch to updated versions when the game update work will be over, depending on how the run looks like.

By the way, I've started practicing with the decoy warp to get it working, and while messing around I skipped past the first boss fight and crashed the game when I went to the village without Atalan. How many bosses can you skip with that?

Edit : You can skip a lot of bosses with that : Tagu, Magus, Treu, Jazracht, and Shu Goth...I may have forgotten one of course.

By skipping Treu wouldn't you be skipping the warden soul? Is the double jump not needed?

It's not needed to finish the game, the frost pillar is enough for all the mandatory platforming.

Yup. All you need in terms of platforming is Wall hook, Frost soul and Void soul.

Have there been any 100% runs yet? I'd be interested in watching a full clear of the game if only as a way to learn all the content there is.

People routing for 100% usually either end up doing Goibniu or giving up, so there's no such runs yet. I personally don't want to route for this as this is longer but easier than any%, I'm not very stimulated by this.

I've been poking at Wyatt runs, I'm sure I'll finish one eventually... but the two different characters look really cool. From what it seems, Wyatt runs are pure glitchless runs of the game, but Reina runs allow for a hell of a lot more creative routing, with a bit more emphasis on skipping anything unnecessary.

For anyone picking up Wyatt runs, here's a vid of an effective way to cycle Azudor for a pretty quick kill. This is done at level 3 on normal difficulty :

I've made a new PB, but failed Magus Skip, this is still a good run though, 0:41:04 !

@Fleetfeet : I actually do not use the reset to farm Tagu's sister XP, I just failed the trick the first time on my former PB hahaha.

Yes you got it ! I'm just saying the reset is because the combo broke. And even if it displays x5, God Slayer combo give x10 exp ! That's why it's so amazing =).
