Good luck. Smiley

just be prepared to redo somethings if we find more tricks

ps when you finish are you gonna host on your site so we can see it in advance?
Speed is the key.
Fierce, good luck.

This will be one of the greatest runs this year, if not the best of them all. I know you have the skill required to make something nice out of 80+ pages of trick testing, shortcut discussion and pure spam. Just take your time to make this as good as possible, I (I probably speak for many people here) will rather watch an über good run 2008 than a sloppy one tomorrow.

Wink
Thanks for the indepth list Faros, that was exactly what i wanted to see.

A run like that would be interesting but too damn long for the site Sad

BTW, the Ganon Tower trick is the one that requires glitching through the wall? The one discovered by Acryarte.
The original leever.
uhh you post doesn't make very much sence but heres some answers:

I see no list of faros
too darn long for the site is like 8 hours (Radix accepted a seven and a half hour GTA:SA run) and the current run is about 3 hours short of too darnlong and we're thinking another half hour too hour faster.
yes the ganondorf's castle glitch in which we go through the barrier require you go through the spirit wall.

Bombs(King Dodongo)

In his chamber, at least, there's bomb flowers. But if you are to use Bombchu instead of bombs, where is the earliest you can get Bomchu?

It's more like we're skipping the goron's bracelet and just use the bombs instead. We get bombchus from the spirit temple.

Alex - Yes, against king Dodongo you must use bombs or bomb flowers. Bombchus cannot hurt him.

FIERCE - best of luck

You can also get the bombchu's by getting 40 gold skultula's? You could use the glitch with the boomerang to get that early, I just don't know if it's any faster.

True, and in a 100%, the spirit temple has a few skulltulas, and I'm not sure but you might be able to do it w/out those glitches (since they are usually not allowed). That would be waaay to slow for anything except a 100% though.
This seems appropiate.

Oh...Update?
I'm still practicing my strats...I'm actually competing with myself until I get a time I'm happy with.
So if anyone has any new minor tricks or ideas of ways I can practice....post them! Cheesy

Is there any other feasible way to get bombchus to skip dodongo's cavern, besides doing spirit first. Like, say in Hyrule Market. Also, are we still talking about doing stuff with the scarecrow's song, like we were about 50-60 pages ago?My child route...
deku tree, etc.
hyrule market, get bombchus
zelda's lullaby
goron city, saria's song, power bracelet
dodongo's cavern (bombchu eyes) (get bombs?)
go to zora's fountain, farore's wind
jabu jabu's belly
set farore's wind on way out
lake hylia warp
scarecrow song and/or fishing game
gerudo fortress and spirit temple
farore's wind warp back, go down zora's river
ocarina of time, din's fire, become adult

DLH - I don't think you can buy bombchus unless you have bombchus... right?

I have a route that I think is solid but I need to iron out whether it's possible to do the:
bomb boost in Jabu Jabu (5 mins saved) or not...
Also, the cuckoo damage boost in gerudo valley...
and need to frame by frame to see if shadow early is possible. Blah blah blah, the child route is pretty easy to plan out it just depends on what is possible.

I was thinking (and I don't know really) but if you bombchu the eyes and DON'T grab bomb bag, then go to Dodongo's Cavern as adult (if you need bombs for shadow early) you could go there (since it's close and on the way to fire)... we could skip a bit of the cavern by climbing up to that switch. There might be more skippable stuff too and maybe we can get the bomb bag alot quicker as adult? (though it must save more time than the extra trip there)

FIERCE - what is your current plan? Was it decided that longshot early saved enough time to waste FW or are you gonna do that and just use warp songs? W/ that what other things do you plan on? certainly not gerudo skip or any of this ridiculous child stuff until all that is ironed out and it's actual possibilities of replication can be assessed. So, I was just wondering what you will be doing for adult. Secondly, are you using gannon's tower skip or are you competing against the 4:57?
hm.. is it possible to damage bosst while hookshot-flying? or are you invulnerable Huh?
Retired
Even if Radix classifies the runs different, in my eyes using the Ganon's Tower trick, and others ... if those helped to get lower than 4:57 ... would beat my time fairly.

Also, getting Bomb bag as adult is better, but has anyone double checked to see that you can get them as an adult from that chest (I see no reason why not)?  If you can get them, and you can use them to get to Shadow early, then that is the way to go.

Right now I am waiting on seeing if getting to Shadow early is possible, then I will know the best route that should be used.  Cuz then, having the hover boots = goodbye Forest, Fire and Water Temples...(In particular the Water Temple - you don't need the Longshot with Hover boots...you can use power-stab-boosts with hover to cross all those gaps, even the one I think to the boss door).

Seriously - if Shadow early is possible, no route now covers exactly how fast the adult portion could be done.

TSA - true, I agree w/ everything. And, that new sig is quite possibly the most beatiful thing I've ever seen. But, if that bomb boost in Jabu Jabu is possible then skipping bracelet and getting bombbag as kid is faster I believe... if not then Adult.

I really need to start testing shadow w/ mupen to see if this can be done. Just need to buy a controller adapter and then I can trult test it out.

phallasvogel - you are invulnerable (think spirit in the boulder room)
my friend told me he once reached shadow using the hookshot. but I know he was talking shit again. like usual...
but would be cool if the coders left on hookable pixel Grin

Didnt you (TSA) say that you would break your Wind Waker run by approximately 1 hour and therefore aiming for a 5 hourish run? In your signature, you've written 6:29:xx..

I have actually tried looking for something exactly like that, not only w/ the fence... but even to the absurdity of trying to hook the grass up top from different places. I did that stuff for at least 2 hours. hehe. If I missed it I'd be po'ed but I don't think there is a hookable pixel... though it would be the coolest easter egg (even surpassing the prize upgrade).

Yeah.. maybe something like the one just outside Ganon's Castle. Cheesy

hyrule market, get bombchus

You can't get them

bombchus = only possible with save warps and glitching through walls.
I'm pretty sure the longshot is needed for height in one room of the shadow temple as well :-/

My legal route:
Deku Tree
Dodongo's Cavern
Jabu Jabu
Farore's Wind
Set Farore's Wind in Jabu Jabu
Child Spirit Temple
Warp back
Ocarina of Time cutscene
Din's Fire
----
Get Hookshot
Lost Woods
Learn Minuet of the Forest
Lost Woods
Ice Cavern
Water Temple (yay for Din's Fire)
Warp to Spirit Temple (Longshot required to finish)
Minuet of the Forest to Forest Temple
Kokiri Forest
Goron Tunic (skip Bolero with Longshot)
Fire Temple
Nocturne of the Shadow
Shadow Temple
Light Arrows

The Hylian Shield is not needed until the Forest Temple. (meaning I don't have to get it)
The cool part is we get to use the Longshot and Farore's wind on all the Temples.

Out of curiosity..has the seperate category route been made?

It involves Tingle Tuner.  It would be another category.  I know more stuff for a "normal" run - I'd like to do this first.

I've been working on it (for tas). the thing is just that I don't have adult figured out, and child is kind of dependant on that. Also, the route I have used SW, whereas for SDA and SS you'd need to complete dodongo's (or waste WAAY to much time w/ skulltulas) in order to grab bombchus before that. So, currently there are only 2 possibilities of getting magic w/out bombs that I have found. This encompasses:

A) getting into the walls from the big drop in goron city, and stradling the line all the way into darunia's room, where you would jump off into the load...
B) Finding a way to get past those boulders that block death mountain... (or some glitch to break them???)

From there you can climb the DM seam and scale the mountain to the top. Then, from the literal top of the mountain, w/ proper positioning (I can bring screens if it comes to this actually ever working out). You can backrun off the edge and jumpslash and travel forwards far enough to fall into the load. When exiting, you pass through the stone that blocks it.

or...

C) find a way to glitch out the cursed children so they aren't cursed?? and grab them. <-- yeah right
I'm pretty sure this has been asked before, but I'll be damned if I'm trauling 80+ pages to find the aswer Smiley

The two webbed tunnels in the floor of the Deku tree? Instinct tells me that they'd be good places to investigate possible shortcuts, but I don't have the game anymore to test things Sad I'm just wondering what testing has been done so far and what was found?

Is it possible to burn through the first one?
How far must you fall to break through?
Is there anywhere you can drop earlier?
Is it impossible to cross the moat to the second one?
