Very cool, though it is a ways off to the right and it might even be faster just to side hop off link's balcony to the raised part and then access the brigde from there. Both of which are  timely, though then again... it may prove to be the fastest if collecting it on the way back (towards shop) or something. It would have to be tested and thought about (I just shallowly assessed it)

grass on way to sword(1), fence hop (6), rolling boulder area (2) + (5) + (5), hop stones (5), fence trick (5), chest in house (I know you have the load 2x + text. this all needs to be timed), grass near stones(1), hop stones (5), Shop (5).

or

grass on way to sword(1), fence hop (6), rolling boulder area (2) + (5) + (5), slash sign(5), hop stones(5), fence trick (5), grass near stones(1), Shop (5). idk

It's cool i guess. A decent set. Not my best, but that's because I rushed ALOT of my shots, since sitting and aiming for 20 billion seconds doesn't look that cool, even if you do increase your accuracy by about 25-3x percent. It's all good. I don't really have that many dry streaks here, and I also tried to get in pimp shots if I did have one... hehe. My overall accuracy rating was good and I'm satisfied other than accidentally jumping off the steps like 2 times >_<.
Oh, and if you wonder why I stand there 2 times... I try not to camp respawners for easy shots. I like to let them start going somewhere first, and I also... like to get po'ed and draw my sword if I made bad shots (habit in attempt to reset my mindset to an accurate state)
Yeah, I just beat Jabu Jabu's belly the basic way. I even got all the gold skulltullas!

But yeah, that's a much more vivid description. I just hope Link agrees with you about setting the bird down. He was being awfully stubborn.

EDIT: I did the test. The silver replaces the gold! That was unexpected. I guess it actually has separate flags for having each and just goes with whichever you got last. I bet the Hookshot/Longshot would work the same way if you hacked a longshot before getting the hookshot. Ok, so this is completely useless for speed running, but it's a nifty piece of trivia. Now to *actually* do Jabu Jabu's belly

Yep... Hookshot will replace the Longshot. Tongue
Speed is the key.
Cool trick, Quijo, you probably know this, but it is possible to do it without falling down from the ledge directly after the jumpslash.
I think it was just an accident that he fell.
I wonder if this could improve the rupee route...

Yeah, I know it was an accident, as you can do it without falling.  Roll Eyes

If it can improve the rupee route then it's not that much, tops 3 seconds if you ask me. Speaking of the rupee route, you can easily backflip over the fences on your way to the sword, even backflip to grab the blue+green rupees.
hello there
I dunno what causes the slip... it wasn't by accident. It just happens sometimes if you jumpslash too early I suppose. I've tried getting it to work further to the left but the height and angle of the bridge doesn't allow it. If you look carefully the bridge slowly rises to the left.
Retired
Yeah, that's cool, but sidehopping to the ledge and scaling up could be faster, as Acryte said.  And in the grand scheme, I'm not sure it saves time.

hello there
I guess so. It only really saves time if you manage to pull it off first time, which is easier said than done.

Yeah, I know the sidehop one is slower than the current one too. The thing that may make the fence trick slightly faster if at all, is if you encorporate going in that direction + going back in the opposite direction in a way that gets rupees both times... and due to the time taken, they better be blue. So, if you hop the stones on the way there and get 5, if you get the one in the house then you get 5 in there, and when you are on your way to the shop you get the 5 from the stone hopping again. This is realistically the only potential option for making it work quickly and effectively, and would have to be timed to see if the load times make it take longer or not. If need be, you could grab what, 2 blue rupees from the house? Then take off the sign slash and or the random rupees.
Since the topic is kind of slow now, let me ask something.

With the recent discoveries you gus made can you skip new items and areas for a minimum % run?

Is there a new list with the minimum items required to complete the game?

And what items could you skip even if is not for minimum percent?

Thanks in advance.
Thats...pretty much what all of this is about in the first place...and then some. Hell, the're almost on their way to beating tha game and skipping the adult portion entirely.
does anyone, actually, trying to do a run on it ? like do a segment or 2  O_o, cause that a lot of talk for only 1 run up Tongue

It's a popular game  ;). And from what I understood, Fierce is doing the run.

whatever...Right now you should just ignore the fact that I'm still around.
As per the absolute minimum(which also interests me), here's what we're thinking:

Kokiri Sword(duh)
Deku Shield(no way past Mido and first Deku Scrub without it)
Deku Sticks(unless you can think up another way to light torches)
Slingshot(several switches need shot, and the one in the Deku tree seems quite unskippable; the Gold Skulltulla has a slim chance of aiding in a damage boost though)
Fairy Ocerina(no other way out of the forest)
Silver/Gold Scale(needed to get letter in bottle to get to Jabu Jabu, but a glitch lets us choose)
Letter in bottle(King Zora has to move his fat behind)
Boomerang(no other way to do several things including hitting that last switch in Jabu Jabu; remote chance with bombchus and damage boosting)
Bombs(King Dodongo)
Silver Gauntlets(no other way into Adult Spirit temple)
Requirum of Spirit/Gerudo Membership pass(I think it's a choice, but the Requirum is clearly much, much faster)
Zelda's Lullaby(needed in Water Temple and to get spells)
Din's Fire(needed to enter Shadow Temple, among other things)
Magic(needed for Din's Fire)
Bombchus/Goron Bracelet(one or the other is needed to get into Dodongo's cavern)
Hookshot(needed to enter Forest and water, at least)
Hover Boots(needed to cross several gaps in Shadow)
Iron Boots(needed if no early hover boots trick can be found for water)
Longshot(in the same boat as Iron Boots)
Mirror Shield(needed in spirit several times including Twinrova)
Bow(needed numerous times, poe sisters come to mind)
Light Arrows(Ganondorf fight at least)
Saria's Song(needed to get past Mido as an adult unless we find a new trick)
Master Sword(duh)
Minuet of Forest(no known way to get past Shiek)
Serenade of Water(in same boat as Iron Boots)
Nocturne of Shadow(only known way into shadow temple)
Ocerina of Time(door of time needs opening(
Song of Time(see above)

Items that it is not obvious that can be skipped:
Lens of Truth(you can memorize every invisible object and good timing beats Bongo Bongo)
Gold Gauntlets(a trick to skip the barrier rooms has been found; this also makes Bombchus not strictly nessecary)
Zora Tunic(you have more than enough air)
Goron Tunic(only if you are on an early version where the clockstopper glitch works to allow you to survive against Volvagia; it is also possible if you get enough hearts/bottles with fairies)
Bolero of Fire(enter Death Mountain Crater from the summit and jump onto a small platform in the lava; then you just have to scarecrow's song and longshot away to approach the temple from the wrong side and avoid the Shiek scene)
Prelude of Light(no lens and early kid link spirit lets us avoid ever becomming a kid again so as long as we stay out of the back of the temple of time we can avoid it)
Fire Arrows(just watch TSA's run; it doesn't seem like you can skip them when you first play the game, but you can)

Tricks used and considered:

clockstopper glitch(stops all timers from activating)
gold scale glitch(get the gold scale as a kid which lets us do Jabu Jabu before Dodongo if we want)
spirit temple as a kid(self explanitory purpose; it's basically a ton of damage boost and high calibur jumping maneuvers)
early shadow(not yet found, but it's really important as the hover boots let most of water be skipped which lets us skip the Serenade of Water, the Iron Boots, and the Longshot)
Ganon's castle barrier skip(we can skip the barrier rooms; it removes one instance of needing clockstopper and the need for Gold Gauntlets)

Yeah, if you want elaboration on those tricks just ask. I can't provide it for all of them, but I do know all about how clockstopper and early gold scale work at least. There are probably videos of several of them buried in this topic; anyone who digs them out is super. Most of the stuff I didn't mention is pretty obvious how you can skip it(Ice Arrows being skippable shouldn't surprise anyone). I will say the most annoying thing to skip is Deku Nuts as they randomly come out of some patches of grass and some pots.
Speed is the key.
I tried damage boosting from the skulltula in the Deku Tree a lot. It's not possible if you can't find a way to drop down on it from above.

And if we can find a way into shadow early, we still have the grate in the spirit temple to deal with before we can skip the longshot.
You don't actually need the serenade of water though do you? But you have to auto get it so you can get the iron boots?

You mean the skulltulas on top? That is possible...
You can't really skip the longshot you need it for one room with the silver rupees in the shadow temple. (height not distance)
But let me get back to this hover boot stuff...where does that save time? Is there really much point?
As far as I know...it barely allows for any sequence breaks...maybe one in the forest temple but thats it...

Edit:
Really there is only one thing holding me back. I'm not sure which spots to use Farore's Wind. :-/
If someone can get me info on that then I will attempt a run saturday.

Sorry, I should have made myself more clear, I meant the golden skulltula on the grate in the room below the entrance.

About farore's wind, didn't TSA use it the best way in his 4:57 run?

oh, my fault  Wink
Well I know in the water temple he didn't use the best Farore's Wind. I said it should be changed to after you exit the room where you raise the water to the second floor.

In the Forest Temple I think I recall TSA said it was faster to not use Farore's Wind..
ughhh..once I get this info..I will begin my attempts ASAP.
The original leever.
I think you can pretty much go by the rule:

if i go back to a room i was already in and nothing happens as i go back use farores wind but dont go crazy or you'll use too much mp and you need to take into account how long it takes to cast and how long it takes to go back
No the Quail is not riding the Q
I played for a few hours already practicing my strats.
On those practices I made almost no mistakes.
Right now I'm going to attempt to make my run.
Wish me luck everyone. From now on the only thing I'll be doing is attempting runs.

Good luck :).  Single Segment, or just the first segment of the Deku Tree?
I quite enjoyed TSA's run. A run half hour or more faster should be awesome to watch. Good luck with your run(s)!  Grin
