I have the Dazzle DVC100, and I’m attempting to capture gameplay from the Wii (with Composite video cables) using VirtualDub. After selecting the Dazzle under Device, I can see and record video just fine (the quality is not the greatest, but I haven’t messed around with the settings too much.) However, I cannot hear or record the game’s sound. In the Audio menu, the Dazzle is not listed on the bottom list; instead the “Microphone Array (SigmaTel High” is selected. Enable audio capture and Enable audio playback are both checked. I only can get sound from my computer’s microphone, which is obviously not good.

I tried DScaler and had the same problem; I couldn’t find the Dazzle as an option in the audio settings, so it would only record from my microphone.

Is there something I can do to get the Dazzle to show up in the audio options? Is there some setting I’m missing?

(If it helps, I’m running Windows Vista.)

Thanks.

Hmm, So your device does not show up under audio tab in Vdub?

Does your dazzle's audio device show up under Sound in the Control panel? If not try right clicking in the white area and selecting "show disabled devices". If it shows up then, then just enable it.

Additionally, I find that using "enable audio playback" in Vdub is just asking for trouble. I recommend going to the device in the Sound option in your Control Panel, and selecting "Listen to this Device"

I don't have any experience using Dazzles, but if you jsut cant seem to get the audio to work, then I recommend picking up a cheap 2 RCA->Headphone jack converter, then just record using your computer's line-in. Good luck getting stuff working.
Yeah, nothing but the mic shows up on that list.  Dazzle also doesn’t show up in my recording options, even with “Show Disabled Devices” checked (it was actually checked to begin with.)

Seeing that screen reminded me that I also don’t have Stero Mix for some reason. I remember running into this problem before with CamStudio not being able to record sound directly from my computer, and I had to settle for recording the sound coming out of my speakers with a mic. I never found a solution to that either. Is it possible that these problems are related? Could the issue be something with my sound card (SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC?)

If I can’t figure this out, I’ll try your final suggestion; I can’t imagine that wouldn’t work.
Well I have no idea why there is no recording device for you for Dazzle, but I suspect the reason why you don't have stereo mix, is because your sound card just plain doesn't support it. If your had some kind of Realtek on-board audio I would just tell you to update your drivers and hope that worked.

As for your Dazzle, my advice would be to go to the Dazzle homepage and update your drivers.

Back to your stereo mix problem, I did a quick google search, and came across this page dedicated to getting stereo mix on Sigmatel audio chipsets. You should read up on it and see if any of those solutions work for you.

Alright, well after looking around some more, I got Stereo Mix to work by installing an XP driver by running it in compatibility mode. This changed a couple things in VirtualDub. Now my options under the audio menu are Stereo Mix, Digital Mic, Line In, and Microphone. But there’s still no Dazzle.

I seem to already have the most current Dazzle drivers, and I’m pretty sure that the Dazzle itself is not the problem because I can capture sound just fine with Pinnacle Studio (the program that comes with it.) My computer also recognizes it in the Device Manager, both as a Video Device and as an Audio Device. The only place it doesn’t show up is in that audio menu. Kind of strange.

Can anyone confirm that the Dazzle even works in VirtualDub to capture to audio?
I recently picked up a Dazzle DVC-100 as well and haven't been able to capture audio with it in DScaler or VirtualDub either.  I researched it and apparently neither of those programs work with Dazzle series cards above DVC-90 when running Vista or Windows 7 (though they work fine in XP).  The Dazzle of course works fine in OSX (with VideoGlide) so that's what I've been using.

So, if you have access to an XP machine or a Mac it should work there, or you can get RCA to stereo cable and use the microphone/line-in of your computer if you need to capture in Vista.
Yeah. I just got an RAC to stereo cable today and it works great. I now have a huge mess of random cords, but whatever. Hopefully I won’t run into too many other problems.

Sorry for necro-post, but I have the same problem.

Audio records if select "Stereo Mix" or "Wave", but recorded audio is terrible - plays very badly and someting like echo, especially if select "Listen to this Device".

I already try install newest drivers, but without effect.

Audio system - Asus Xonar DX, Creative GigaWorks T20.

The Dork Knight himself.
The Dazzle is very finicky to get the audio from due to the way Pinnacle installs the drivers. Try using this version of vDub which was hacked to allow native Dazzle audio support.
