I live about 15 minutes away from Portsmouth and I've got no issues making my way down there, I don't really know the etiquette of marathons but I could probably come down and attend for however long, dunno if I could run a game though, I'm in the middle of learning stuff like Half-Life which I think people would enjoy.

Also the choice of charity is pretty close to me, I have no reservations to making a donation. c:

So what kind of game length would be planned for the Marathon? Long games or just the more shorter hour and below runs?

I plan to be pretty flexible. I'm going for the more fun factor than hardcore serious WR factor. Obviously we still expect the runs to be somewhat fast and good but we're open to ideas. If anyone wants to run or race but isnt sure just ask either on here or PM me Smiley

This definately needs to happen.
I'm not much of a runner, but I'll definately attend and help bring the HYPE.
I can get to any part of England fairly easily, plus I can drive, so would probably be driving to the event and could give lifts from where I am, or there abouts/on the way.
Hope this gets more backing, awesome idea xD

The event isn't just for runners of course. Anyone can attend! HYPE required!
That would be awesome if you could provide lifts, I'm sure people would appreciate it.
I'm coming up with more ideas and having more people ask to run games every day so I'm getting excited XD

I don't think there's anything to update yet. We've got;

- a name; EGGS (Easter Gathering of Gaming Speedsters)
- an estimated time period; Easter 2015 (April/May)
- a chosen charity cause; depression
- a chosen charity; Mind
- a handful of speedrunners already putting their name forward
- someone who might be able to give lifts to people

I'm still looking into the venue as I haven't heard back from them but I have back ups if this doesn't work although I'm hoping it does as its ideal.
As I say before, anyone whether spectator or runner is welcome, if you wish to run something send me a PM and ask.
We're not after 'the best' or 'WR holders' as we're looking for the more fun side of things but you do need to be good and entertaining.

Would it be possible to hold the event over the Easter holidays? I wouldn't be able to go and I assume a few others couldn't if it was held at a different time

The event dates will be decided closer to the time, all we know is that it'll be at Easter hence the name. I'll look into what the holidays are for different countries. To start it off, when is your holiday?

If this years dates are anything to go by it'd be near the start of April to around the 20th of April (4th til 22nd for this year).

Nearby, up in Clanfield. It wouldn't really matter anyway since I could just get there whenever but I just wanted to throw it out there in case anyone else would be in the same situation at the time.

I messaged you on reddit but got no reply so I'd love to join in, been learning toy story for genesis and im 40 seconds short of the WR, I am also learning skate 3 which could be interesting to watch, but does have a lot of down (loading) time. I live in Bexleyheath and drive so I am happy to bring people who live near me or are willing to get near me.

Any game would be welcome at the event so feel free to suggest any and as many as you want Tongue

It would a bit of a trek down from the frozen North (Durham here) but much closer than any other marathon event, I would be totally up for this!
