Let's face it: With another winter marathon in planning for February 2015 in Austria, soon only the Autumn will be without on-site marathons … but full of AGDQ-Fundraisers Wink Good thing about SGDQ, that's going to be early summer, while ESA is mid-summer. Leaves late summer for this one, maybe?
Invite me on a burrito and it's a deal. Also give me time, I need that thing.
Haha Pete! Free burritos all round!

I think our options for this is April/May or August/September unless we want a New Year event but I'd imagine people have plans with friends and family.
Magical. Flying. Bathtub
I live an hour away in Guildford so attending something like this would be almost trivial for me! I'm in.
Woohooo! It'll be great to see you again Robo! Promise to make your delicious meatballs? Cheesy
Okay guys. We've decided on Easter 2015. Not sure EXACTLY when because I think it's different for everyone but it'll be around late April/early May.
$15 per rant/allegory
May I suggest that we don't make this another charity marathon and instead just have a meetup? By 2015 we're going to be having charity things every month. I think the scene would benefit much more from a non-charity event.

What's wrong with charity? People seem interested in this. It isn't like there's loads or anything. It's just that there isn't a British one and people in the UK miss out because they can't go to Europe/Sweden or America. People don't have to donate it's the taking part that counts. We've spoke about the possibility of doing small mini-meetups which would be held in our flat which would be fine if people are interested in that?
Uhm.. Hi!
I think doing it for a charity is good personally. Its not like you /have/ to donate, its an optional thing. I think it helps raise awareness for certain things and I just like the idea. Charity just adds that good will feeling to it I think and its a nice thing to do it for really.
I'm really interested in this, especially since it'll be in 2015!

I think Flicky have a point, there are already so many charity marathons and too few meetups, and isn't the meetup component the most important one? So imagine how'll be in 2015. A meetup could still be streamed. Could make a game out of it, like the twitter game during AGDQ2014, let the viewers guess what time a run will be, and then there are prizes or something, to give the viewers some excitement beside the runs!

I'm going to be in Canada for C4L in April/May.
That Rocket Guy
This marathon sounds pretty cool, definitely going to keep an eye on this. Anyone in the UK shouldn't really have any trouble getting to it either Tongue
It will definitely be in 2015 as this year is too soon.

I understand where Flicky is coming from but I would really like to do it as a charity event especially for the charity that we're doing. We will however hold smaller friendly get-togethers which will be at our flat and people would be welcome to come to. We have an office for playing/streaming and a lounge for sleeping.

Lag, 2015, not 2014. I haven't heard anything from Poxnor about a C4L15 yet. If you know more than I do, please share, because I would love to revisit Edmonton Wink

Spring 2015 sounds so very good, that I'll keep it in mind for holiday planning 2015 ^__^

On the topic of charity or not: I don't have a particularly strong opinion on that; however, I do see both sides of the argument. If you're going to go for charity, better get it right. ESA raised 2k in its first year, C4L some 20k (iirc). Poxnor might have some ideas about creating awareness and such, that we were missing for ESA12 Wink
I'm glad that people approve of the chosen time ^^ We definitely like the Easter theme, so much we have now decided on a name. EGGS. Easter Gathering of Gaming Speedsters. Tongue I don't expect to raise a lot of money but anything would be nice. I just like the feeling of helping out no matter how little plus we'll all be having fun!

It would be nice just to have a small-medium sized meet up rather then a super structured event. Im pretty much in either way,
As a brit I am very excited by this thread!
How to run Space Marine: Run fast
Woah. Easter 2015... Now you've got me hooked into participating. Even though that's my dissertation year and I'll be stressing like hell for that.... Hmmmm...

I'll see whether I can get my Space Marine time to sub 2 hours. Then I'll decide whether you'd want that or some RTS action Tongue
Wow I never knew so many of you guys are from the UK. Currently living in London but home is in York. This is a great idea and I'll definitely attend too if I can. Also in my opinion, although there are many charity marathons already, not many of them are meet up charity marathon events so I don't think overcrowding the marathon scene would be a problem in this case.
Definitely interested, especially since I'm not too far away (though things may change by 2015). As for charity vs non-charity, I don't really see a benefit to the latter, unless setting up the donation/financial side of things is too much work.
FPS / RPG Runner
I am from the UK and I would love to come to this!, want to goto AGDQ but being so far away and limited funds Sad
I'm overwhelmed by the response already! I'm so excited! Anyone can take part and do speed runs whether you're 'good' or big, even if you're new. Just look into the game you wanna run and do some practice. We wanna fill up a schedule so the more the merrier Tongue
A complete and utter noob.
Thinking about it, I should be able to make it. I start Uni next year, and if I get in, I can cover the costs on my Student Finance.

Oh, right, 2015. Interested, not sure how much I can commit yet, need to learn some new game to run anyway.
I'd be interested, but you should really consider looking for a more central location, as it will simply not be viable for many people in the north (such as myself) to get there if the train is 4 hours and costs >£100 - I understand it's more convenient for yourself which is obviously a huge factor to hosting an event such as this, but you likely would get a lot more people interested if it was somewhere in the midlands or thereabouts.
