Hello!

This thread is for those who wish to talk about and submit games for the EGGS event.
I'm making a list of games right now and I will attempt to make a schedule shortly.
Could those who have previously PM'd me with their games kindly list here as well?
Even if we have discussed it privately and I have accepted them please list for others to see.
If possible please do it in the following format:

Game with Category
Estimate
Personal best
Console

Feel free to leave links or descriptions but not entirely necessary.

I would also like to ask that if anyone can bring any tech to the event that would be greatly appreciated.
Whether the console to play the game on or spare leads. Make sure you put your name on them though.

Thanks! Smiley

1. Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage - Any%
Estimate: 00:20:00
Personal best: 00:10:24
Console: PS1 (NTSC-U PS2)
Link: www.twitch.tv/esgpuppetmaster/c/4718940 (older pb)
This category is essentially a boss rush. In opposition to the other 3 categories, you skip every level by getting to the 3 bosses earlier than intended. The category features a lot of difficult tricks and works as a nice glitch showcase in itself. The reason the estimate is a lot higher than my PB is that a very difficult trick is required at the very end of the run. Alternatively I could skip this trick entirely to lower the estimate, but the run would be a little slower overall.

2. Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage - 100%
Estimate: 02:10:00
Personal best: 02:15:15
Console: PS1 (NTSC-U PS2)
Potential race with Inferno/Tyzerra. This category utilizes the skips from the any% category to get the 100% reward (a permanent powerup) earlier than intended, followed by going through each level collecting 14 talismans, 64 orbs and 10000 gems. The game has a variety of routes so a race of this would be interesting because of how every runner does things differently.

3. Croc: Legend of the Gobbos - 100%
Estimate: 02:05:00 (also an estimate I'm probably capable of lowering)
Personal best: 01:55:00 (WR)
Console: PS1 (NTSC-U PS2)
Link: http://www.twitch.tv/esgpuppetmaster/c/3788243
(description from my ESA 2014 submission)
Croc is a 3D platformer with a lot of interesting tricks and glitches to offer. I think the game is a really underrated speedrun, and I would love to see it run at a marathon. I can offer you high quality execution of a very well-routed game. I feel like 100% would be the superior category for a marathon, since each level consists of several rooms and the game loads every time you enter a new room - in 100% you pick up a lot of items in each room whereas in any% you just rush through each room leading to a very high load screen to actual gameplay ratio. Furthermore in 100% you get to see more of the game in addition to being less risky than any%. To sum it up 100% has a much higher entertainment value.

4. Wario Land II - Main Story
Estimate: 00:40:00
Personal best: 00:33:54
Console: GBC (GameCube with Game Boy Player)
Link: http://www.twitch.tv/esgpuppetmaster/c/5749759
Shorter intro, 25 main levels of the game. This is the category I've put the most time into at this point.
So much crash :O

Here are my submissions if I can make it.. Will try book the days off work, but there the busiest few days of the year so not sure if I will get them. Listing in order of what I prefer to run.

Styx: Master of Shadows - Any%
Estimate: 1:10:00
Personal best: 58:53 (WR)
Console: PC
A newer game with not much attention. Its a good stealthiness platformer. Quite a few tricks in it from a major OOB, goblin abuse or just general skips. I would offer to do a 100% or Non-Lethal ghost, but I dont think I have time to route and practice before the event.

Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor - Any%
Estimate: 2:10:00
Personal best:1:58:47
Console: PC
Im sure everyone has played it.. defo GOTY for 2014 imo! Nothing really special in this game, a few dialogue skips to speed things up, but other than that a very fast playthrough. The estimated time can go from just under 2 hours, or longer depending on really bad RNG. When practicing fully on this game consistant 2:05 for sure though.

Dark Cloud/Chronicle 2 - Any%
Estimate: 8:00:00 (Very rough estimate)
Personal best: 8:55:35
Console: Playstation 2 Slim - NTSC
An oldie classic, very RNG dependent at points with getting key drops, or even a key item on the first act. My time is from without much practice, only managed to do two full runs after completing routing, and can easily be dropped to around 7 hours or possibly even lower with practice.

Final Fantasy IX - Any%
Estimate: 10:00:00 ish hours
Personal best:9:40:01
Console: Playstation 2 Slim - NTSC
Not much to explain about this game, every knows it and loves it. But it is a pretty lengthy game with possibility of death right at the end Sad My time is an okie time, I know I can get it way past a sub 9:30, but that just depends on the RNG given.
Super Mario 64 DS - 80 Star
Estimate: 1:25:00
PB: 1:18:34 (WR)
Console: Nintendo DS

Super Mario 64 - 1 Star
Estimate: 15:00
PB: 8:06 (WR is 7:36)
Console: Nintendo 64

Super Mario Sunshine - any%
Estimate: 1:30:00
PB: 1:26:55 (WR is 1:18:57)
Console: Gamecube (played on Wii)

I can bring tech if needed.
Wii (has region changing set up)
Nintendo 64 NTSC (plays both NTSC-U and NTSC-J)
CRT (roughly 20" I think, NTSC compatible)
Wii U (PAL)
Nintendo DS (modded to capture video over USB)

I can also bring cables and PC stuff if need be eg:
hdmi cables
dazzle dvc 100
blackmagic intensity shuttle
PC
Probably a bunch of other stuff if you need it (just ask)

This would be super awesome. Anything you, and anyone, can bring, is a big help. I don't expect people to go bringing PC's or TV's, although you can if you want to and are able to, but obviously they are big things and could be a pain bringing. Anything PC/stream related would be great as Josh isn't sure if his PC will handle the event.
The Simpsons: Hit & Run - All Story Missions
Estimate: 1:55:00
PB: 1:48:16
Console: PC
This is a Simpsons GTA clone. No real glitches to speak of, but lots of clever strats and optimisations (a ton of which have been developed in the last year). Could do this as a race - I'll get the others to post here too if they're interested.

Guacamelee! Gold Edition - Any% (Normal Difficulty)
Estimate: 50:00
PB: 40:13
Console: PC
Metroidvania brawler. It's brilliant, but I haven't had a huge amount of experience running it. Suggested so that you can throw it in if you need to fill some time.

I can bring my PC/Monitor/Whatever, but I'm only intending to be there for a day or two.

I am so hype

If you can and would like to bring your PC and stuff then feel free to. As mentioned previously I could imagine that travelling with such gear could be a pain so I haven't come out and asked people to bring things like that but it's more than welcome if people want to. It would definitely help. HYPE!

Ultima Underworld - Any%
Estimate: 0:20:00
PB: 0:16:39 (WR)
Console: PC (DOSbox)
There's quite a bit of multitasking and concentration involved in this run but I should still be able to explain what's going on. It's not a clear run to follow if you don't know the game but a few sentences pre-run should explain the gist of it.

Sonic R - 100%
Estimate: 0:20:00
PB: 0:17:31
Console: Gamecube (NTSC)
no singing pls ;~;

Toy Story 2 - Any%
Estimate: 0:40:00
PB: 0:34:25
Console: N64 (NTSC)
My PB will likely improve if I pick this game up again. I don't actually own an NTSC N64 or the game, so all my runs have been emulator.

I can bring a Dazzle DVC 100, an RCA audio (Red/white) to aux plug, a Gamecube Gameboy Player and a softmodded Wii (PAL but plays any region) if needed. I also have an RCA to HDMI adapter, which might offer better stream quality with an HDMI capture device but I'm not sure.

I don't know anyone in the community yet but look forward to meeting some!

The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap - Any%
Estimate: 2:25:00
PB: 2:14:43
Console: Game Boy Advanced (played on Gamecube with Gameboy Player)
Link: http://www.twitch.tv/usiku/c/5109628
Handheld Zelda game with some fun glitches, Plus, if we're doing incentives the filename could easily be one.

Star Fox Adventures - Any%
Estimate: 5:30:00
PB: 5:11:12
Console: Gamecube (played on Wii)
Link: http://www.twitch.tv/usiku/c/3428148
This game has a few really cool glitches, along with some hilariously bad voice acting. It is also the game I've put the most time into and had the record in until a couple of months ago.

Banjo Tooie - Any% No DCW
Estimate: 3:40:00
PB: 3:31:25
Console: Nintendo 64 NTSC-U
Link: http://www.twitch.tv/usiku/c/5571726
This is the game I've run the least of, so there should be some major time improvements between now and the marathon. The estimate is only that high because my PB currently isn't that great.

Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg - Any%
Estimate: 1:30
PB: 1:22:34
Console: Gamecube (played on Wii)
This game seems perfect for this marathon considering the name, plus it's a really good 3D platformer run and practically nothing is done as intended.

As for equipment, I can bring a Gamecube with a Gameboy Player, as well as a 3DS with a capture card, a NTSC-U N64 and a softmodded Wii for region changing needs. Smiley

As previously said, anything people can bring is a big help! Feel free to bring whatever you want and can.
It'll be great to meet you! I'm sure everyone will be friendly and we'll have a great time!

Same as above, would be greatly appreciated! Smiley
As i said in my PM i'll be mainly there for the cause, having fun and meet people, but i can also run a few games.  Also my participation will sadly depend of my job (i'll know the answer mid february i think).

For the games :

Counter Strike Condition zero pretty tedious if you're not into CS and even if you are, (look how i sell the game right ! But honestly if you have better game than this to show, don't file bad to say no to this one) estimate 1h45, on PC (steam) never really timed it so no PB.

Kirby's dream land, on super game boy estimate 15 minutes (kracko RNG can fuck really hard the run) i've achieved a smooth 12:47 with mediocre RNG (never got the perfect double kracko fight).

If i think of other games that i can run, i'll let you know.

As i'll take the plane to come (landing in southampton), i won't be able to bring that much to the event. I can take some master system games for blind races, maybe my master system or at least the controller (first gen Scart PAL with no mods), a super nintendo with the super game boy and two controller (same spec as the master system) and super street fighter II turbo for some epic battles ! Last but not least, if we have a cs tourney (and i'd dig that A LOT !), i'll bring my steelseries set (headset/mouse/keyboard/mousepad) so we can play in good condition !
Final Fantasy V - Any% (Japanese)
Estimate: 4:30:00
Personal best: 4:13:26
Console: SNES (NTSC)

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles - Any% (Japanese)
Estimate: 2:35:00
Personal best: None yet (English PB 2:27:52, but J is ~15m faster)
Console: Gamecube / played on Wii (Softmodded to NTSC-J)

I'd rather run FF5 over FFCC. I'm much less practised on FFCC so the estimate is kinda high.

I'll probably just bring whichever console(s) I'm running on. Can bring both regardless if it's necessary, but I'd rather avoid it.
Added both to the list but we can just add FFV to the actual schedule if you want. No FFX? Kappa
I'd rather spend the time hanging out than spend the day playing a game I play on any other day Smiley (and it'd be practically a full day on a 9am-9pm schedule Tongue )
Haha fair enough! Yeah I did think that. I have had a few long runs submitted 6+ even one or two 10+ so I don't know if I'll accept those or not. Either that or if we do get more popular and get more submissions then I'll try and get the event longer. I've been saying to have it 2-4 days because I wasn't expecting much and originally it was 24/7 but since that's changed and it has become more popular maybe I could make it 7 days like the rest of the events. *shrugs*
Metroid Zero Mission - 100%
Estimate - 1:20:00
Personal best - 1:12:43 (video)
Console - Gamecube (Game Boy Player)

I might offer something else closer to the time but not sure yet. I'd love to attend though so this is a start! We met on the plane to ESA kitty if you remember, so it will be nice to see you guys again Smiley

We have plenty of time so no worries if you decide to submit something in a week or month's time. I'll probably have the cut off point early or mid March.
Oh yes! I remember. Well I didn't remember your name but as soon as you said that I pictured you, you have dark hair and glasses right? You were wearing an AGDQ or SGDQ shirt I think? Be awesome to see you again Smiley

Can't guarantee anything, but...

Fable: The Lost Chapters - Any%
Estimate: 1:45:00
PB: 1:34:20
Platform: PC
Video (no commentary):

A quirky action RPG with neat tech, little to no grinding and very little that can go "run dead" badly. Not seen before at any speedrunning marathon, so it will be a first Smiley

Also can't guarantee it (weight, etc), but I do have a 1440P 144Hz monitor I could potentially bring for other runners to use Cheesy
Etem! It'll be great if you can come! Smiley Added to the list! Smiley
Bring whatever you want and can ^_^

Wow so much Spyro and Crash!

Spyro: Season of Flame any%
Estimate: 32:00
PB: 27:45 (WR)
Console: GBA
Fast paced collectathon style platformer. Has a couple of amusing oversights in the level design to abuse.

New Super Mario Bros Wii any%
Estimate: 35:00
PB: 27:06 (WR is 26:46)
Console: Wii

Spyro: Adventure (Attack of the Rhynocks) any%
Estimate: 27:00
PB: 23:46 (WR is 21:00)
Console: GBA
Collectathon platformer similar to Season of Flame which is shorter and has more sequence breaks.

I can bring a Wii and Gamecube with Gameboy player along.
