PAL version is little bit slower than NTSC version that's why. But if I'm right if you do speedrun with in game time you can get same time on PAL version, right?

Teh wrongz0rz.
The PAL version will definetely offer the option of a 60 Hz mode. And I just noticed that the 50 Hz mode on the Wii version isn't any slower than 60 Hz so that fact may be taken over to the Cube version as well.

Reason is, that it seems confirmed that the iron boots glitch is not possible in the PAL version. At least that is what I understood when I read the whole thread over the last 2 hours.

I could be wrong though. But I'm German therefore I MAY be wrong if I want to! Yes, I do. Tongue

(Time to get myself a fricken avatar...)

Speed is the key.
It seems that you can go into the wii menu (PAL wii) and toggle freely between PAL and NTSC (50 and 60 Hz). This is great and as long as your tv supports 60Hz, there is no need to play tp in 50.

It is possible.

Also the game has to support the 50 or 60 hz option as well.

if the gam does not support 60 hz, the console will of course output at 50hz.

Yes there is:
Recording it via VCR.
I know that there are VCRs which can record 60 Hz, but afaik the majority of all PAL VCRs are only capable of recording 50 Hz stuff. That's why it is kinda important that the game rund in 50 Hz as fast as it runs in 60 Hz.
dinosaur from the past
IIRC modern games tend to be much, much better about keeping PAL and NTSC running at the same speed. So I'd be surprised if there were differences.
Zelda Rulez!
So it's possible to play TP on PAL wii on same speed than NTSC version, right?
If that so that is better thing with speedrun Grin

Only one night left and then I will get TP Roll Eyes
I'm not THAT bad.
:-/ That trick you were talking about earlier isn't possible. You need epona for the trick and when you try to get Epona Colin won't let you.

Oh well  Tongue

Signboard of Hyrule
Here's a pretty wierd glitch stemming from Dungeon 7's item.  Using 'C' to switch to 1st person moves you horizontally, and you can pop on top of the bridge!  It appears this is a localized glitch, but we can hope!
DUNGEON SEVEN (7) ITEM SPOILER glitch video

Using Dungeon 3's item, I have seen that if you attach to the very left or right side of certain vinewalls, you act as if you are using one of its special points.

One use of the spin jump (which requires HS #3), is that you can climb onto the tops of open chests.  Hopefully someone will find a good use for it.  Here is a bad one:  by forcing the camera below Link, one can get a widescreen shot of Link's Crotch.  I am so sorry.  There is precidence for doing so by a certain someone who did it in a MM speedrun.

No, you just assumed I responded to you, when I responded to Fluffy.  I actually didnt' watch your videos because I can't watch DivX encoded videos at work, but I can watch YouTube/Google Video/embedded Flash.

I "did" the trick I said above on November 11th, 2006.  Not that hard to "figure out", but I'm quite confident I was the first to do it at SDA, I just didn't really think it was something "special" to mention until people got serious about a run and I wanted to give as much as I could recall.

I hope that you weren't thinking I was trying to "call you out" or lay claim for it - that's not it at all.  I just (mistakenly) believed that you were aware of the video (or even just it's description) and had forgotten.  The one reason I make videos is to showcase what is known, or even just ideas, so that the ideas are better fixed in people's minds.

I have highly enjoyed the Visual Guide; it has lots of little "tricks" scattered throughout.  I wondered how far you could go without a shield, or what would happen if Occoo was continually skipped.  It is quite interesting to see what is considered natural and normal gameplay by veterins of the series.  I bet nearly everyone here had Link rolling instead of walking within 10 seconds of gaining control.
Yea I've managed to reproduce that popping up through the bridge glitch by accident. I never figured out what caused it, but C-Up seems a likely candidate.
Yes, a cucco riding the ground.

You can also use sidehops.

Okay, got my Cube version now (PAL of course).
I think I can confirm later that day or tomorrow whether the iron boots glitch works or not. Cheesy

EDIT: Just found out a little something which could give you the slingshot a little bit more early: As you know you need 30 rupees for the slingshot. Fastest way would be to go to Link's house. Left (Cube)/Right (Wii) of it is a stone in the grass which contains a blue rupee when lifted. Leaving the area and coming back again makes the blue rupee available again. Unfinite rupees 4tw!

Eh SkippyJR you allready have that mouch HEART CONTAINERS? I dont even have that mouch in OOT.
Hey, whats up ya'll? A buddy of mine gave me this link a couple of days ago, and I'm quite impressed. I also saw awhile back what you guys did with OOT, and Fluffy Kittens run, both kicked major ass.

Anyway, I've been fooling around with FIERCELINKMASTER' little glitch to get over the first gate in Ordon early. I've found a couple things out. And I hope I can be of help to any of you.

Okay, well first when you hop the gate, everything is the same as the second day, Coro give you the lantern, the map is marked for the key and the gate to get to Talo, and Talo and the monkey are held captive in that cage. I wouldn't be surprised if this shapes up to be the first seqence break we find in this game.

okay, well, you can break the cage by yourself, you have no sword, but the enemies can break the cage with their attacks. The only problem is, once the cage is broken Talo and the monkey will just stand there, he will say something like "you have to chase the monsters away". So, in order to go any further, we gotta figure out how to kill those 2 enemies... When the only item we have is a lantern. (the monsters might be able to kill eachother if we can pull it off, I'd be hard as hell though)

So there is no doubt in my mind, that if we can defeat these monsters it will skip us right to the final day where Link gets pulled into the Twilight.

Even better, if we can get out into Hyrule field. I don't see any reason why the Twilight wouldn't be in the Gorge at that point, and if the whole game is set up this way, we'd be able to skip a huge part of the beginning and go right to collecting tears in Kakariko.

Problem is you cant hop the gate leading to the field as easily as the first one. The ground is on a slope, so you cant position Epona like you could at the first gate. So you either gotta put her on a crazy angle or we gotta find another way to glitch through the gate.

Anyway, thats just what I've tried so far, so hopefully we'll all be able to work together and in the end have a real great run for this game being made.

-Peace
Puff, puff, pass
Ah, you have to make an account to edit don't you?

Sorry people, I ment "you *can't break the cage by yourself".

Register and join the discussion. Wink

Getting into Hyrule Field early seems like an interesting goal that could lead to a lot of good stuff... hopefully. I'll start testing some ideas I have later.

He's back!
Yay finally got it today  Grin

I haven't really been following the thread in relation to tricks, glitches and plot so and it took my nearly 5 hours to beat the first temple. Although I was and still am taking the game at a casual pace.

Things I've discovered in the FT, sorry if they're intentional or already well known.

1. Not sure about this one but I managed to reach some unintentional ledges by using the live floor tiles that boost Link up high into the air, I was able to manipulate them in order to get onto ledges and in one of the rooms I used it to get to a Monkey very quickly by getting boosted onto a ledge and then jumping and doing a jump slash over one on the live floor tiles.

2. On the spinning bridges if you hit the bridge with a Gale bomerang and stand on the edge of the platform and time Links run you can stay on the platform while being glitched into the barrier, and in turn jump on the perpindicular platform which would otherwise require Link to use the Gale Bomerang twice.

EDIT: From the nature of the game so far, reaching distant ledges seems unlikley since the best way to get distace is buy using a Z-target jump slash, but once I obtain bombs I'm postive that there will be places where I can use a jump slash boost.
