You can point at a spot with the fairy cursor and will automatically be aiming at it when you bring out a weapon. That makes the Wii aiming faster by default, lag or not. It's harder to use the Wii stuff at high performance, but in the end it should be faster. I'm surprised that you would find GC aiming faster since you can't start aiming until you pull out your weapon.
Awww that really suck I'm glad I have wii version soon and does anyone know is it fixed on europe wii TP version? My friend will get his Gamecube TP soon and then I will try that glitch out on his version too
Hot damn, I love it when people ignore my posts and I'm later shown to have been thinking along the correct, most relevant lines.
RealityO, no there's no 2nd Quest because this is a mainstream successor to OoT, as opposed to TWW which had significant differences for the time and so they threw in the so-called 2nd quest to get people to play it more and get more hooked into it. The developers went out of their way to make the whiny retarded gamer crowd feel comfortable this time around and so they didn't feel insecure enough to add things like a 2nd quest. I'm not saying that's the way gamers are, I'm saying that's how Nintendo execs and other major gaming corporations think. For example, there's obviously no timeline since the devs just make the game and have plot as a 2ndary concern (any rational person can see this), yet Miyamoto went on the record saying there was indeed a timline. I can guarantee you that the only timeline documents they've ever had are some internal memos about how to properly publicly deal with all the innumerable timeline discussions. If they said there was no timeline, fans would be disappointed and less engaged even though speculation would still continue. From a practical standpoint, Nintendo doesn't want that. They want people as engaged and mesmerized as possible. That's why TP is more like an interactive Disney movie.
No big deal? In the context of speed running, which I remind you IS WHAT THESE BOARDS ARE FOR, it IS a big deal. It's an enormous time saver. Unless some GC exclusive bug is found which cancels it out or a technique discovered on both versions is found to be more effective, this definitely makes a difference in the speed run times for each version.
IMO, it's at least on par with silly wiimote targeting vs. GC controller targeting discussion, if not more critical.
Aw shit, it's fixed in the PAL and Japanese Wii versions, according to my site's readers...
Looks like American Wii version may be best option for speedrun, though I wouldn't be surprised if next shipments have this bug fixed.
If that is true it really suck :-/ If those cannon glitch or that bridge glitch is fixed it's alright but not that iron boots glitch. I need test it if it work or not If not then PAL version have different time and it have different time anyway because it's slower
TSA tell me immediately if you get any other news about PAL and NTSC version diffenrents, okay?
Heheheh, Radix is "boycotting" Retro because this kind of stuff happened to Metroid Prime 2. I wonder if he'll put his money where is mouth is and "boycott" Nintendo, which makes a lot more games to miss than Metroid Prime 3 which Radix probably expects to suck anyway. Probably not.
The iron boots glitch was found on Dec 5th (or slightly before). TP (and the Wii) were released in Japan on Dec 2nd and in Europe on Dec 8th. It would not appear that the "fix" was due to public discovery of the glitch. Hopefully the RVL-RZDE-0A-0 version (with the glitch) will still be printed in the NA territory for some time.

Also, in the Temple of Time, I used the Clawshot + Jumpslash to go over gates rather than put pots on switches. [...] Not sure if anyone else did these [...]
Forgot about replying to a post (#200) with a video of such a thing? It's quite a trip to do that. With the number of experienced and determined individuals studying this game, many things will be "discovered" by more than one person. Someone on NeoGAF also (accidently) figured out how to get the boss key in LT without doing the 2nd water room.
I did some timings in LT for the various routes. In either the case of geting the dungeon item early or not, petrie911's glitch saves time for that room. So then we are reduced to checking the timings of the 2 routes.
Item normal: Key 1 -> water room -> gear room -> key 2 -> gear room -> get item -> stair room from bottom level and spin the stairs Item early: Key 1 -> gear room -> get item -> key 2 -> stair room from bottom level and spin the stairs -> water room -> stair room
The differences in the route (and the time lost verses the other) came out to: Item normal: - climbing 2 vinewalls in water room 13s + 15s (further out) = 27s - extra pass with key #2's door = 3s - gear ride = 10s (+ ??s waiting for a platform to come by) = 40 seconds Item early: - Top of stair room to gear room = 20s - Gear room to top of stair room (along top level) = 20s = 40 seconds
It comes pretty close - the difference in actually time between the routes is probably less than 10 seconds.
