Hopefully DVD recording.

I'm currently planning the route, and cross-referencing every single quest to see when I can do certain parts.

I'm gessing it's worth getting the biting plant flower by knocking the fruit into it, rather than in a chest.

Cheese locations may prove a problem.

No way is that faster.
The chest is quick because you have to walk right by it when getting underground cheese.
You need only 15 cheese.
3 underground
2 from Yan
2 from hungry hidden villager
2 from forgetful thief
2 from cry baby door
2 from chest in yan's hiding spot in haunted mansion
1 from the Ol' Pond AP box
1 from child dwarf's father
(Note when doing the mission "The Famous Digger", do not enter for that cheese, it's faster to get the Ol' Pond's and underground cheese)

I recommend getting all 25 leaf butterflies in the dip right before the first dwarf you bite, it has the most area for them to appear.
Yeah, it's definately fastest there.

What about in the Masakari jungle? It took me ages to find just 4 leaf butterflies.

Well in the Masakari Jungle, Leaf Butterflies aren't generated by movement (like in 100 flower forest).
They're random, but they're easiest to get outside the village of civilization.
Another tip: when rescuing dwarves from the watch tower, get the child, then do 'look and see?!', then get the crystal ball, then the dirty mirror.  Don't race the thief until you are going to get the flower seeds, you can beat him fastest that way.
I'm also thinking of doing a SS non-recorded just to see the difficulty of such a run, due to the amount I would have to memorise (basically, the math beads and all of the haunted mansion). As your segemented run stands at a 0.43, I would aim for under an hour as a first try.

Have you worked out any modifications to the haunted mansion route?  I know you'll need to open that cry door.
The math bead route should be the same as mine, unless you've got a faster way, there's nothing extra to collect there.  Have you got a ballpark time for the run, yet?

Oh, greatest news, I've ordered a DVD recorder.  It should be here within the next two weeks.  [hope it's not too complicated]

I've finished with my 130 quest route, have you?  Will you be recording VHS or DVD?  And how many segments, I'm not sure  if my 23 is reasonable?
You're obviously a much quicker planner than me Cheesy

As it stands, I won't be able to record, as my DVD recorder won't record from the PS. You may as well do the 130 route as well. I'll do a run from what remains (say, if you don't manage a SS before I can record...)

Why wouldn't it record from a PS?
Can you use a PS2?
I dunno.
Same problem.
Bumped so it doesn't get lost.

Ballpark for SS- sub 50 mins.
THE GAME!!
An original PlayStation should be able to work with a DVD recorder. You stick the Yellow, White and Red cords into the front of the DVD recorder, then check what AV channel it's on and then you can record it with ease!! I know this works with the PS2.

Sheesh, you guys.
That DVD recorder taking a while.
In the meantime, I've planned both Tomba!s, normal and 100%.

Tomba 1 coming first, then Tomba 2, then either one 100%, haven't decided.
I knew that it would be a while, so I bumped the thread so when you came to post updates you could find the thread.

I swear I will purchase Tombi 2 when I complete Super Paper Mario (which should arrive on the 14th... stupid non-English speaking European countries...)

Got my DVD recorder today, have filmed first segment of first run.
Are you gonna be YouTube-ing each seg. so that we can analyse and/or criticise Cheesy

Ehhh, I figure I'd rather keep you waiting.
I might put together a highlight reel of the whole run before sending it in, though.

GAH I hate DVD recording.
I've recorded my first 4 segments, but because of my recorder, I've only got the first two.  The first two segments + all my failed attempts took up one disc on XP quality, so I had the 3rd and 4th greatly done (13 minutes at South Side of the Mansion) on the next disc, but when I stopped recording, it started buzzing and froze up.  I had to cut the power to it, then it said my disc "cannot be played". Again, AGAHAHAG.

Ahwell.  Expect this run to be finished before October, and you are in for disappointment.  Also, I'm no longer aiming sub-40, but 40 minutes. (sub-41 minutes)

UPDATE: 3rd and 4th rerecorded, then deleted AGAIN , then rererecorded.
THE GAME!!
Oh cool, you got a DVD recorder?

Are you gonna capture them yourself, or are you gonna send the DVDs to Nate/Radix?
THE GAME!!
MTGjumper: Yes, SPM is taking a hell of a long time to get to PAL regions. And I think NZ gets it on the 20th.
@ Laguna: Wee, pre-ordered!

So Tombi 2 run will probably start early November? I should have plenty of time to finish SPM, buy Tombi 2 and complete it.
THE GAME!!
I too pre-ordered it. Tongue

At the rate I'm running now, if I don't move on to Tomba 2 until I can get 40 mins in Tomba 1, there will never be a run from me on the SDA!
And I've tried Anri-Chan with a Tomba segment.  It errored out on me, so Nate it is.
THE GAME!!
40 minutes should be possible. Good Luck!!

Ohthanklord.
Segment 5 (The Haunted Mansion) ((the one I gloated about for doing on my first try for youtube videos)) was a KILLER!
But I've got 5 segments done, with a time if18 minutes (as opposed to the old 19 at this point) thanks to a new path of egg-breaking.  I found an even faster Green Pig method as well.  I make use of the sorting items to speed that up too.  I'm hoping to record 6 and 7 this weekend, and have 8, 9, 10 finished by Friday.

That 40 minutes is looking less and less and less possible every segment.  I'm going to officially say "Screw it" to that projected time and settle for whatever this run yields.  I'm anxious to get on to Tomba! 2, cause it is so much easier.  With the SDA's money problem, lack of verifiers, and my own lazi(err...busi) -ness, you might not see anything until 08.  The run is still scheduled to be done by October, though.
Nice to know you're still working on it.
THE GAME!!
Yeah! I'm looking forward for this run! Smiley
