I learned it from the written explanation on pewable's video, but you want to line yourself up and lunge with no direction. On the frame after you lunge you want to press down. Next frame, press up. Keep alternating her direction as frame perfect as possible and she should clip through the door. Its not -exactly- frame perfect, but that's what you wanna aim for. Does that make sense?
i get confused that you say frames cause i thought the pc version doesnt work with that kind of "frames" . Theartisticballistic wrote me: shove and the spammin up down up down up but that confuses me too. In his run he shove "into" (right before) the door and adjusts the cameraangle so that the camera views behind her. I do that and than i make the shove (its the meele attack right?) and than spam up down up down but nohting happens.
and on pewables vid there is only a explanation for Console
That's specific to him. Its better to be able to see laura when starting out so you can learn it. You start out by using melee only, then press -the opposite direction- laura is facing. She should immediately turn about but continue the melee attack. The goal is to turn her 180 degrees as many times during shove as possible.
Yeah on PC you want to do the melee attack, then, as soon as you press the melee attack input, do down up down up etc. VERY FAST. Hard on pc but not impossible (from what I head) ... Try looking at the door, and looking away from the door (but still stick to it) to see what works better for you.
i think its too random to work with it. I think for Pause Buffer on Pc you have to be with the First UP/down at least half way through the Door to be able to pause buffer it. RNG ftw
So, to cap off the worst run anybody has ever had in their lives, I got to the point where you're supposed to slide down the rope to get to the boat where Alex is, but there was no rope so I could not progess. Has anybody ever had that happen? And if so, do we know the reason why so that I may avoid such things in the future?
Yeah, my run fell apart at shantytown. Definitely need to work on that second grim skip. Under pressure, my method falls apart. Anyway, Tried again and now I have an official PB of 2:17:38. A few minor mistakes, a flubbed shanty town, and a terrible final climb.
Hey Brass, or if anyone else knows. At the solarii fortress there's a cutscene after you enter a room where she climbs on the roof while everything is exploding. So when I roll into that room the cutscene is not triggered frequently. You talk about this in your WR run, like what stops the cutscene from getting triggered but I didn't quite understand what you meant.
2:17 is pretty dang good if you ask me, especially for just starting out.
The only thing I know of that causes problems with that cutscene is if you prevent her from flinching from the explosion beforehand. On one occasion way back during my earlier runs it took that cutscene ages to load, but I dont know what caused that.
I think in my last try I just walked into the explosion normally and also out of it.. but then I started rolling and the cutscene didnt load in the room. When I roll or jump into the explosion but walk from the explosion to the room the cutscene has always loaded so far. So to me it seems like it must be something about how you enter the room but I have no idea what.
Also, in my latest run I did both jumps on the Grim approach (jumping to the other crate before jumping back) and, as I predicted, no enemies spawned. The problem with that is that I did not get a checkpoint there, nor was I able to continue going forward. I had to reload and lost significant time.
tl:dr Don't do both crate jumps on the way to Grim skip #2
Yeah, it's hard to do with enemies in the room because you can get shot down so we kinda go for the bar. Good news though, if you go for that and miss you'll catch the bar.
Speed Reloading: When you run out of ammo (or just want to reload), press the reload button, then scramble or jump. Laura will have a full magazine instantly.
I started learning all the tricks and glitches today on PC, and I have to say the shove clip is a pain to do consistently. So, I tried improving on L0rdy's setup for the old Base Exterior clip (I didn't see any updates since it was posted), and I think this does it.
Walk into the corner as you normally would, but instead of moving the camera to line up with the stairs, take out the bow (crosshair is easier to line up, still works with other guns) and aim at this spot (the metal "V" shape above the fence):
After it's lined up, stop aiming (and don't touch the camera at all) and hold up+left, and Lara should turn and face almost completely left. Just press space, release up, and you're in. You don't have to release up I think, but it just feels better to do so It's been 100% consistent for me and pretty fast since you're always aiming at the exact same spot (its kinda lenient too), so maybe it can be useful to those who don't want to mash for the other clip.
This is kinda irrelevant but new WR is 1:58:39. The Skips went awesome except for Radio Tower. And the run really failed in the corridor before the noobtube and the last big battle. Sub 1:55 looks more and more doable though. Im not sure what method I should use for clipping the radio tower door. I still dream of mastering the shove clip since we have to use it more and more... but then again Radio kills most runs^^ So Ill try that for sure Lortwogo
EDIT: Your Radio Tower setup seems to be very solid! Nice job!
Getting closer to THE URN but still improvable (First village, Shantytown beam bar fire thingy, Friendship and Final Skip were bad) some fights can be done quicker and 0 deaths is possible as well. The big daddy guy on the alex boat can be focused with the bow first and then with the shottie, the other two guys dissappear when you kill the big one.
