I know this is very OT but i so had to think of this when reading that first part Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy
Regarding future Ps4 runs: Well, IF i'm doing another run, it'll be in there ;-) You can bet on that Cheesy The only matter would be the if. I have extremely little
time thanks to me beeing in midst of my exam phase, plus i gotta do a 6 week internship after that, and lastly all my spare time goes towards FF14 at the moment Cheesy
But you never know ;-) Maybe it hooks me again when i do a training run Cheesy
You -can- get the gondola skip after a reload on console but the timing is super tight. Much tighter than it is the first time you go for it. The other part about the reload is that the time save isn't exactly worth it after a reload.
Sooo... something weird happened with my PC/Game and I don't get it: My loading times are suddenly longer... by like 1 "ring". However there is no loading difference anymore between double buffer and vsync off. And to top it off I can get the intro OoB jump at 60Fps??? Reinstalling and verfying the game didn't do anything. I'm very confused at this point and any clues or ideas of what could cause it are very appreciated.

EDIT: Apparently when I run OBS on preview stream I get the faster normal loading times again...? (and no aero isn't disabled)
Which makes me wonder: Does OBS indeed make the loading times shorter in TR?

EDIT2: I still feel something is wrong with my PC/game. But I just realised win10 is here so what I wrote before shouldn't be relevant anymore.
Which also should be good news for all the people on the lower FPS range since I heard there are some significant FPS gains in various games!

So I just timed out the Gondola ride skip with a new method/route that saves 38 seconds.  I forgot to explain, but once you get onto the rope and hit that checkpoint, reload it (unless you are going YOLO) and you wont have to worry about messing up the next skip and being reset way back.  I know someone pointed out this route, but I just timed it and added in the reload checkpoint

also, new X360 WR which totally screws up the above skip and loses a minute.  1:52:06

Wow nice Brass !
I thought you won't run until RoTR release (to derust) but it's good to see you get a new 360 WR ! Congrats !
I'm totally on another game these weeks but I hope l'll get a sub 2h before november.
I'm off to watch this WR Smiley

and again, thx for your work on this game guys.
With the new Gondola Skip route and the new door clip method (mainly for Shanty Town) I decided to go for it again.  I need to revise the Oni Stronghold fight as well, but yeah, I decided "why not".  Here's to your sub 2! Go get it!
Maybe, one day, we'll be able to fully understand this game...

Awesome!! I wish they'll release that tool so we can dissect the game Wink
Particularly interesting is @2:53, a peek into how the trigger system works.
Ohhh dear, thanks for sharing moxxi!
Hey I didnt't look the whole thread history  and it was maybe already mentioned but I have a problem.
I wanted to start speedrunning Tomb Raider 2013. I read already the guide sides but I have a problem with the first glitch at the beginning (Intro OoB). Maybe there are more problems but I just tested this glitch so far Wink
Like advised I set jump on mouse wheel up and I was already able to jump sometimes when I loaded the checkpoint.
But I couldn`t say before if Lara would jump and I also don`t understand what I did different when it worked and when not.
My technique is to load the checkpoint and while there is the loading screen I press move foreward and scroll the whole time mouse up. But it works only sometimes and I`m not sure if it`s the right approach.

Is there any way that I can time when I have to say Lara to jump? How can I make it work everytime? Can someone maybe explain me when I have to do what or how I can make it work. Cause only with the given guide and video I don`t think I`ll be able to get it work.

Thx Smiley
Hey! Well first of all intro oob is probably the hardest trick in the game and not getting the jump is as normal as the difficulty we run the game at. It is not possible to tell if it will work or not until you see it. The 3 things I look out for are:
- I don't press forward immediatley, I wait for the 2nd or 3rd ring to appear but I can't say if that will actually affect the chance of getting the jump.
- The more or even most important thing is that I try to spin the mousewheel just before the reload screen ends.
- Spinning the mousewheel for long enough, which can be hard to achieve with just one finger. I personally hold the mouse with my right hand and spin the wheel with the finger tips of the left hand. This however requires that you bind your forward button to an additional mousebutton if you can or the enter key of the numpad which you press with the wrist of the left hand. The other option is you turn the mouse upside down and drag it along the pad. But only do the upside down method with care, Shanz and I both have broken a mouse doing this.

The timing of when you start to spin the mousewheel is extremely exact, with enough practice you can get the jump like 1 out of 3 tries or even 2/3.
Ty for these tipps. I`ll try it as fast as possible Smiley

Hey there, I've been learning the game the past few days, and I'm now at Lara Skywalker where something weird is happening. Sometimes when I feel I get a good path going my screen goes completely dark! I was wondering if I could get some advice on why this might be happening or how to avoid it.

EDIT: Nevermind I just got it, and figured out what I was doing wrong. I'm learning that a big part of it is just getting the right start to your skywalk.
(Still the Intro OoB)
OK wow ty. now I`m getting more often this jump. Not exactly 1 out of 3 but it is getting much better Smiley
But when I get this jump where do head for?
In the video its to left side. So I jump and just go left. But when I was able to do a jump and pressed A for walking left only the camera circulate around Lara.
So what am I doing wrong?
Uhm.. that's a bit weird. All you have to do is jump forward and stop on the wooden beam. So the only 2 explanastions I have are that you press A at the wrong time/place or you have accidentaly bound something else to A. And make sure you use the mouse to change camera... while or even before you hold A

hmm can't give you any help there traivlin, but I'm able to do the intro jump with a controller, so it cant really be THAT hard. Plus, once i have any idea where exactly a jump would be possible, i'm sure the new skip will also be doable with controller ^^
Maybe map jumping to 2 or more buttons that can be mashed rather easily will help you, if you are struggling with the mouse wheel

Even though I play on PC I use a controller for all but a few things and I was gonna ask if you have any advice for intro OoB since you said you also get it on controller.

just mash reeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaally hard Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy We're talking several presses / second if you can do it. Its pretty hard, and i'm sure the mouse version is way easier Smiley Maybe you wanna use mouse for that jump and then switch? Smiley
speedrunning this game on pc with a controller is like entering a formula 1 race with a tricycle

Haha, my movement is really awful with it but I do use m+kb for a few specific things. Uh house skip is easier with it for some reason. Getting OoB in Shantytown I use it for, but I do the rest with the controller. One of the last skips, in the bell puzzle room I can only make the jump through the wall with mouse and keyboard for some reason. lol I may try also try it for Intro OoB as well. Also, thanks for the help so far!

Alright the way I get Intro OoB is to map forward to an unused button on my mouse, jump to ScrUp AND ScrDwn hold it with my left hand and do the mouse wheeling with my right. Life is hard. And it's still not very consistent but hey. xD
So first of all thx for the great tip to do jump with mouseup and mousedown. I didnt know that it is possible to set mouseup and mousedown to jump but now I know and it help me a lot. So with these settings I`m now able to do the first jump a way more often than before Smiley But now a new problem occured Sad :
If the jump works how do I head for the wooden beam?

I was able to get sometimes on the wooden barrels on the left, but I never got on a wooden beam. And when I just jumped foreward Lara landed just in the middle of the path she has to walk.
In the tutorial video only W is pressed, but like I mentioned I only landed on the path in the caves.
Is it needed to turn my mouse? and if yes at which point do I aim? Or what else am I doing wrong?
have you turned vsync off? usually when she doesn't jump far enough its framerate related.
Ahh yes. Great tip. Thx. Smiley now it works Smiley I`m able to get to the wooden beam and walk.
Now I`m just have to learn where I have to walk  after I glitched out Smiley
But sometimes lara jumps to the right side without me pressing anything else then move foreward. Did you ever heared about that? Wink and why does she that. I don`t move my mouse to much that she could aim to the right.
