TAS would help for sure. I'm seriously doubting that the way I told you guys how I did it (Hold W and spam jump) is correct and that's why nobody else has been able to do it. (If it's not that, I have no idea what it is and that's why I can't do it anymore either.)

Is there a TAS that we can use for TR?

EDIT: I did a little snooping around in the intro using the Yamatai patch. Lara's spawn location is actually upside down right where you first gain control of her. Everything that happens before hand is simply camera and sound effects. With that said, I'm not sure how a jump input would cause a glitch to allow us to start playing immediately. I'm so confused.

New skip hype! So I found this oob a very long time ago and thought it was useless at first, but then i took the trainer and found the loading trigger. the new skywalk route hits the area loading trigger so we can proceed onward. you skip the rope-retrieval cut-scene, but you eventually get the rope when crossing the bridge, just like fire-arrow skip.

Saves 30-40 seconds

After crossing the bridge and getting the rope, if you go back to the other side the cut-scene of the pilot getting stabbed will play and you will be put back to before the first skywalk of the skip(the beginning of the video). there will be no textures loaded but the area will still have collision. if you restart checkpoint, you'll be put back there but you'll keep the rope. it's very weird but cool.

...Spent a little extra time with the skip. you can also continue the skywalk after hitting the loading trigger to roof of one of the structures, allowing you to skip the rope-climb to save more time. so now the potential time save could be around 40-50 seconds, if everything's done quickly.
Awesome skip! But it also skips getting Dirty Tricks at the campfire. Guess we should get it at the next campfire from now on.

nice find! but sadly looks like a pc only skip because of the enormous height gain :/ Sadly i'm lost in FF14 right now, so I can't immediatly test it, but when most of my guilde are offline i'll definetly have a look to be sure Smiley Or someone locks FPS to 60 and posts his findings Tongue
Nice one Vamp ! Too bad it's not doable on good old 360...
Couple of things:

1. (For Vamp) What's your framerate when doing this skip? Looks to be higher than what we normally play with just by the simple fact that you're disappearing into the rock. I'd guess somewhere around 180+. If it's less than that, great.

2. (For Eydas) What's to stop you from getting Dirty Tricks at the first campfire? Or even getting Dirty Tricks at the same campfire, then doing the skywalk?
@Zydin, yep, it's around 180, but it's pretty easy to get that fps in that area, especially since the camera is aimed at the sky and towards the rocks. So no, definitely not something for consoles. Also, it's also possible to do this at lower frame-rates, 150 even.

Well, for the first campfire we don't have enough skill points to get both Dirty Tricks and Pain Tolerance. For the same campfire, I haven't timed it but it seems to me that getting to that campfire, upgrading and going back to start the skywalker would be slower than using the one next to roth. I suppose it's also possible to only get Dirty Tricks at the campfire before weather station and getting Pain Tolerance at the beach, but it's riskier.

Ah, i forgot to talk about the skill points problem. I did a run not too long ago and was able to get the 2 skill points at the campfire after the pipes-skip. What you have to do is get a certain amount of headshots before getting there. i'm unsure how many, but it seemed to work. i'll try to confirm it when i have more time. if not, then you should have 2 points by the time you meet up with Roth again, stopping by that campfire is about a 5sec time loss.

...so i found that all you have to do to get 2 skill points before pipes skip is reload the checkpoint. for some reason if you reload the checkpoint you get 800xp from the wolf cave skip. i think it takes just as much time reloading as it would to just stop by the camp by Roth.
Hey vamp, that oob after wolf cave skip is pretty consistent for me now. I think it's worth a revisit to see if we can reliably skip those cutscenes
^ Nice! that would be cool if we could find something for that oob.

...Also, here's an example of how much faster keeping the skywalk going is. It's riskier and harder; a caveat, there is no sound for the video.
This is the setup I use for pipe skip at the moment. I think there is no randomness invovled which is always a plus with those kind of tricks. But the downside is that it isn't very forgiving.

1:03:29 normal any% run using all the new stuff. Sub 1:03 is doable now. But after that we need more skips.
I have to say, NICE RUN! My favorite part was your save on the skywalk when you were on the boat at 46:10. I haven't had ideas for this game in a while. I really think we're nearing the fastest times we'll ever see. There's a few things I'd like to look at though. I'll mark them here for reference:

1) See how much time Leap of Faith will save on first try (doesn't need to be done from the rope as shown in my video)
2) See if the intro waterfall skip is faster.
3) See how much time  a walljump would save when heading into the bunker (must pass through doorframe to trigger next area to load [18:57])

The only way I know to skip that gate I was talking about is to use a reverse clip just like any other door. I couldn't imagine it saving any time though and it would be purely for lolz/swag. It served a purpose at one time because you wouldn't have to deal with enemies if you screwed up the grenade boost. Now it's kinda pointless.

I'm really unsure of where to look for new stuff. I've played around with the trainer and much of the potential skips are ruined due to loading restrictions. Here's what I know:

You can probably skip the first camp just fine (you don't get a checkpoint, and I missed the deer so when I reloaded checkpoint it set me back and I just played it normally so I didn't test after that) - used the trainer. No known skywalk
Radio tower skip is looking grim (using the trainer I jumped all the way to the top and didn't get a cutscene triggered. It occurs to me know that I didn't look to see if anything loaded while going up. I need to do that)
Looked OOBs at the part where you have to stay 'steathy' near the stormguard parade. No way to skip it even if we found an oob.

Anybody else have any ideas?
well, it sucks that missed that wonderful wr, @artistic, but congrats!

As for things that i've been looking into:
Tower Skip; I think it just might be possible. the loading trigger for the next area is at the second ladder. you just get there, face the ladder, jump towards it, and the next area can load. I say 'can' because at times it loads completely(with loading triggers and all) and other/most times it loads half of the things. I recommend people with trainers to look into that. It may be tough to get up to that ladder though. If you try the rope it softlocks the game. But i'll continue to look into when i have time.

Storm Guard Parade; i love that name, btw, @Zydin. If we manage to clip through the left wall before lighting the fire and going through the small hole-thing, we can actually load the Parade Room without loading the guards. I think maybe if we can do that we can skip not only the hole section but the ledge part as well for a total of 40+ seconds time-save.

Those are the two things i've been messing with that have potential. I'll post anything i find.
The things I've been looking into are:
1) Final climb--> there are 2 oobs that get you quite far, the first is when you go behind the fire wall and then head to the right, the second one is right before the falling bell. First one could be impossible becuase of death floors. The second one has just 1 jump missing from working. In case both of those are possible and can be done after each other there is exactly 1 part left where we need the upgraded bow which is after the boat cutscene.
2) Pistol skip... I mean we sure don't need it anymore at this point so we could skip it entirely.. if we can proceed out of the sneaky area and the slowmo part... which makes it look about as hopeless as before.
3) Again shotgun skip... I do really wonder how pewable got down the valley. At this point my biggest hope (eventhough highly unlikely) is the magic river. If we can make the game think we have already been at the monastery by going down at the collapsing rope and after that do wolf cave skip radio tower etc. i hope the magic river will gift us everything and then after meeting roth we go down the river section. Sure it doesn't make sense because we're not supposed to have the shotgun at this point but it could let us sub 1h if it works.
4) This isn't really a skip but there might be a more optimal point to go oob for the big one in shanty town to save some seconds.

Blind oni room: But yes I'm also happy with Storm Guard Parade. I presonally have never used the trainer inside of the main room... and for whatever reason I have a pretty good feeling about that one being possible.
First campfire skip: There are already some leads... right before Sam's pack you can do a skywalk and go oob. I think the only problems I had were level loading triggers.

@Zydin 2) do you mean the treewalk across the waterfall?
@Vampstreak Wow I didn't know about that ladder. After my last visit I totally gave up on radio tower.

Hey!

I worked all afternoon on a gondola skip for PC. And I managed to adapt the console version (This one should also works on new gen). It saves something like 20s if done correctly. With some practice it's not that hard, but if you fail it you lose quite a lot of time...

As the beginning is a bit confusing, here's some explanations :
_ Start the ice skating glitch
_ Set VSync ON
_ Use "Survival Instinct" to see trough fog
_ Press Melee (this is important to do it in the first few seconds of the ice skate, NOT AT THE END or it will not work!)
_ The rest is pretty much self explanatory

Something to note : as you can see at the end of the video, the explosive barrels only spawn after the gondola stops. So if you're really fast you don't have any barrel on the ship, which can be an issue. Also, if you trigger the checkpoint when you slide down the rope before the gondola stops and die, you'll respawn at the gondola (and lost an awful lot of time..) So it would be wise to wait a bit before jumping to the rope.

PS: You can jump mid-air at the end of the melee attack. So you can be more a lot more accurate in your fall, and can land closer to were you have to drop down.
Awesome Moxxi!!
really nice moxxi ;-) Sadly this won't work on NG, since CD recoded that area in the definitive version so its not possible to do Ice Skating there anymore ;-)
So you changed the frame rate to allow you to drop low enough. Interesting. I used to call that the console master race skip lol
Well the gondola ice skate was found on pc in the first place so it finally got to where it belongs Keepo. Welcome home gondola skip <3

On another note I have to say it really feels doable in a run yippie! but her walking speed is slower for air boat skip so you have to drop down onto the light blue container more to the left than you normally would or bad things happen.

@Moxxi how well does that jump work out for you at the end of the ice skate? To me it feels like it increases your chance of dying to fall damage x100?
the Ice Skating gondola skip is possible on NG, or at least XBO... i just did it Cheesy

O.o i tried for about 3 hrs and could not get both motion in succession. If i did, she fell off the gondola... I'm kinda busy atm but i will try when i get the chance.
Did you do it first try or from a CP reload?
I literally just played through the game on stream on XBO and got it first try. Here's the highlight from it.  As far as I know, you can't get it on console from reload checkpoint, you have to go back 1 more checkpoint (before getting on the gondola) to be able to get it.

ahhhh now that makes sense. Would I've known that couldve saved me some time and headaches Cheesy
