But you do realise that your shortcut consists of one less jump than going up the normal way? Kappa

The old monastery is faster like 10s but I guess it's a fair alternative if you can get everything right away and first try like in the video.

I also died on the monastery skip after I got it so I also threw away a minute there. Everything else was good but I need to work on the final fight, so many wasted explosions
Beyond the Fire OOB:



If a way is figured out to gain more height, this can skip a use of upgraded rope arrows + falling bell + radio talk.
Yey nice find Eydass! I hope we can combine it somehow with the oob further up, so the second upgraded bow/rope arrow part can be skipped too.

I finally timed cutscene skip and it is just not worth going for it. If you are super fast with everything you can save like 1 sec max... I did that skip for almost 1 year not knowing that it is completely useless FailFish. Also the checkpoint reload just before doesn't save time. Depending on how fast you are it's like 1 second faster to NOT reload. (of course all of that is with my loading times but I'm pretty sure it will apply to Shanz and many others as well)

All I have is a sub 1:10 run (1:09:46) With the current route sub 1:09 is almost impossible single segmented.

Also sub 1h seems to be really really far away. We have a skip for pretty much everything now. Of course there is still the chance for small skips that save up to a minute. But unless we find a way to finish the game with missing gear (Rope, Shotgun, Upgraded Bow) it can't be done. And even with a shotgun or Upgraded bow skip it won't save enough time so we need like a combination and I don't see that happening any time soon Undecided

Nice Job Artistic. Congrats on the run. I agree with you in that dropping it under an hour seems almost impossible at this point. The amount of stuff that we'd have to be able to skip would be ridiculous. The only way I can remotely see this happening is somehow getting areas to load that Aren't supposed to load. Something like the OoT run.
Smiley thanks Marblez. Yea that's the thing about glitchy games... but it'd still be a miracle. Actually I'm really happy with the current route since we have a decent intro now and got rid of most unskippable cutscenes it might get boring after while though.

So I know I'm really late but congrats artistic on the sub 1:10! Also, I saw some of the tutorial video and it looked really nice and thorough.

So yeah, I'd be surprised if this saves even 5 seconds. But what is really interesting here is the OOB.
When I have the time I'm gonna look for a way to use the OOB to continue down the river, and possibly skip the shotgun uses.
Wow that's great. And if you can skip the shotgun, it's one step closer to skipping this weapon using the very hard and stupid shortcut I found to go there a while back. But there is still the part before going to the beach where you have to use it...

I failed monastery T.T and bell puzzel right after it. Final battle was a bit odd. Otherwise almost perfect run. Sub 1:09 seems possible SS now... but ouch that has to be a clean run from start to finish.
This will most likely end up to be useless but I think nobody has posted this so far. On the gondola ride into the fog you can make Lara ice-skate. If you don't get it first try simply reload checkpoint and scramble sandattack during the blackscreen (not loading screen). Since the call is quite long you can get really far but it seems like just not far enough to make a use out of it. The only interesting thing is if you get an infinite fall you still get the checkpoint when the gondola reaches the rope arrow spot. http://www.twitch.tv/theartisticballistic/c/4544759

more skywalking bullcrap! yay!... haha no worries though, I'm glad there is more.  Here are 2 glitches that occurred while I was doing a de-rust run this past week.  the first is not useful sadly, but the second is interesting. No idea what caused it.

I always tried to sneak a burning torch into that area. Won't the fireboxes eventually get there and you can set them on fire?
dangit! one more thing I need to try if I get it to happen again... but my thoughts are that even with them lit, nothing will happen as the trigger for the explosion is pushing the burning boxes down.
Hope it will happen again soon then Smiley Anyways good to see that new stuff is still discovered.
So some OOBs in the airboat area:



OOB #1 - Using the dirty-tricks flight artistic showed before. With low FPS (60 should work) you can land on the yellow-wheel-thing. Doesn't seem too useful since this area is so far away from the rest and I couldn't find anything solid to land on around it.

OOB #2 - You need to jump when the gondola is not too high so you survive the fall but also not too far away so you can make the jump. It's not so difficult though. Problem is the auto-death-trigger when you lose too much height.

OOB #3 - One of the coolest OOB I've stumbled upon. Requires jump-extend though. I can't seem to find a way to lose more height than what you see in the video - might be the same problem with OOB 2.
Wow, cool! Why did they build that area with the yellow thing? Just for decoration or possibly for skipped gameplay?

Have all the dirty tricks sequences with floating been tested with different language versions? This should make a difference, shouldn't it?

That's actually a good point Christian. They don't really have been tested. What's for certain is that after grim skip 2 Lara picks up the walkie talkie much earlier in the german version which makes the walkie takie skip itself impossible.
So there could be more...
Thanks, guys! I was also wondering about OOB #1 being there, because it was really easy to move around for the most part. Maybe they did build it at first with the intention of making it part of normal gameplay, and changed their mind...

Anyway, new skips. YAY!!

Kinda tricky to pull off and I didn't even check how much time it saves. But just the thought that now we have saved all of Lara's companions!


Skip last radio with Reyes:



That jump from the plank needs really precise timing. But the good thing about this skip is that it doesn't cost you any time going for it.
I saw a video here once where somone accessed the little opening on the top right of the bridge to enter the monastry on the first monastry visit. But the opening was just not there/loaded and it was not possible to skip huge parts of the game.
Would the Whitman trigger be there that just was skipped in the video? Maybe if one tries to get out of bounds on the first monastry visit and goes to the left, that trigger could be accessed and Whitman be killed and then everything loads?
I hope this is no too stupid question, surely all areas have been scrunitized or it just doesn't make sense, I don't remember the exact layout.

You can get to the platform on the left of the bridge the first time you come to this place (the one tou access after the boat travel cinematic, and the same way tou get to the unloaded window), but without the rope upgrade, you can't access the little cave where is the cinematic trigger.

I tried a long time ago to get to this little cave by its way out, but without available tricks (i'm on 360) like there's on PC, i wasn't able to success (i managed to go the same height as the exit way hole of the cave, but didn't reach it)

There's maybe something to try with Eydas' "save Whitman" skip made in the opposite way, but the tiny platform seems to be hard to reach from the arrival zone.

By the way, i think the first thing to check is if you can trigger something in the little cave the first time you're approaching the monestary, i remember seeing someone using tool/mod to check triggers in the game (more precisly a higher jump to reach unaccessible grounds).

Wow Eydass! A while back I attempted both of these many times and never succeeded gj!

And yea I checked the area including the cave but there aren't any triggers. And even if there were it's very unlikely that you can finish the game since you miss pretty much all gear.

I'm still chugging away at the console run. managed to beat spuds time again Tongue with a 1:56:20, and got 32 seconds of gold splits (from Geothermal Caverns to the Compound Bow).  also, this is a highlight from the run. KILLER Solarii Fortress fight.
