The basic rule for getting the fire arrows is clipping the gate before you get the first checkpoint of that battle ("she's just one girl!")

Technically fire arrows are not needed anymore but I think nobody has ever finished a run with the latest skip since it's so freaking hard to pull off atm.
So... 1:18:17 SS, PC, any%: http://www.twitch.tv/theartisticballistic/c/3885936

I don't really know what to say. After 6 minutes I was changing sound volume options and so on during the run because I thought this will never happen, 50 minutes later I fluked the new oob.
Plays games quickly. Eventually.
Haha holy shit dude. Huge congrats; you've now got a full 30+ minutes on the next closest time. Hopefully some day we can catch up. \o/

Congrats man. I really need to grind practice.
We need to get that stuff working on console!  but either way, congrats Artistic.

I did some testing on the PS3 version and I found some interesting things out that will influence timing.  Personally, I think for this game, if we have times that are close, all cutscenes and loading screens need to be removed for comparison.  I've already done testing between PC (from artistics runs) and my personal work on the 360 version.  Compared to the 360, the PS3 loads checkpoints faster (so the checkpoint reloads I said werent worth it actually are on PS3 by a second), skips cutscenes in different locations (sometimes a few seconds later and some about a second earlier), and the exit to main menu actually takes about 3-4 seconds longer then the 360.  I also had a problem with pause buffering on PS3, but I'll attribute that to personal error rather then version difference.  The friendship skip is just as much as a pain as the 360.  I've also used my right thumb on the 360 to change weapons while moving. this is a little more difficult/awkward on PS3 since the D-pad is further away and I need to hit X or O as well to keep up the fastest movement.  I also now have the Mac version of TR and will do some testing there as well.
Speaking of friendship skip, is anybody using aim to stick the landing on the beam? Like how we do with the bodies in the puzzle room? I've wanted to test it, but I haven't played the game in so long I haven't been able to.
I think I found a set up that is finally viable for the final part of the new big oob. Eydass gave me the crucial intel, so shout outs to him.

EDIT: I did some further testing and it seems like it's 100% consistent and really easy execution whise. So this oob is pretty much free now Keepo. If the video is not self-explanatory I could make a sophisticated tutorial with greenscreen and hookers.

Zydin:
What seemed to be the problem for me at friendship siip is that you only have the bow and the pistol works way better for sticking the landing because it doesn't zoom in i guess. Which means i didn't use it there but I do it for the final skip though which makes it a lot easier.

So, now that we have a nearly consistent setup for the last part of the OOB, I decided to look for a setup to go OOB just like Eydas in his previous video.

I found a cool setup, something like 70% consistent without so much training. It should be doable on console but it involves fast camera rotation so I don't know..

So, what I did :

Go in the corner, hold backward and aim at this specific point.
Roll once while keeping aim. As soon as you reach the top, do an instant 180° and press forward instead of backward without releasing aim.
Now you have to wait like a second before releasing anything or Lara will fall back in bounds.

So does anyone think that we could avoid going to grim and whatnot if this skip worked somewhat well under fire? It might save a bit of time...

Zydin: That's how I was attempting to do it. Sometimes it would just slide me off anyways.
As you don't go near the ladder, you don't trigger the fight scene. So if you do it this way, not only you never have to do a Grim skip (either 1 or 2) but you also skip all the fights after the Shantytown gate.
Sweet moxxi! So now practice is a lot easier/more convenient for those without a trainer, plus you can attempt the skip multiple times yey! And of course the time save^^

EDIT: Just did a run with the faster oob access: 1:13:58 http://www.twitch.tv/theartisticballistic/c/3904054

So with the current route 1:12:xx is possible for sure.
So, I link these hoping we can work it out together, but I will claim all the rights for the money!! (even though it can't be used yet)

There is a checkpoint after the firebox puzzle, it should be quite easy to get there once jump is unlocked. The problem is to get to the point where we unlock jump (room of first explosion) plus still staying oob.

Oh man, why did I never try that, it's just like the one in the Monastary. I'm going to hopefully have time to try and work out the new Skywalker tomorrow, I'll have a look at this too. Good job Artistic. \o/

I managed to unlock jump while staying oob!! stay tuned...
EDIT: My bad it was only for a certain area T.T
EDIT2: It looks better and betterer Smiley

It's insane, I always jump there and I never went oob, I am ashamed! I need to try that.

(Something I think I never wrote:

To keep jumping where you are not allowed to, you can do =

Jump > as soon as you touch the ground > go back, Lara will do a little slide > jump > etc.

It works sometimes, like before tunnels where Lara has half her body in the water, you are not supposed to jump before it but with that you can.)
Early fire arrows skip:

I can also happily report that you still get fire arrows after clipping through the gate.

PROBLEM: I'm having trouble getting this to work with low frame rates (I've been testing this with 80+ FPS). Does anyone have any idea how to work around that?

Again good job Eydass! Really good to see new people looking for stuff.

It cost a lot of nerves but finally intro OoB: http://www.twitch.tv/theartisticballistic/c/3929913 (Intro would be about 5:20 with this)

There is still the possibility of staying oob for longer, I haven't looked into that yet.

EDIT: There are actually faster strats for the ending. You can go back inbound much quicker... So I think with perfect execution 5min intro is possible.
EDIT2: By the frequency I use this forum I better start with: Dear diary today I made a run with all the latest skips (intro + new fire arrow) http://www.twitch.tv/theartisticballistic/c/3934170 1:13:18
Insane xD
That's amazing Eydas, I tried stuff here for hours and you just... kicked my lost hours (something like that) !
You could have had trouble finding this because of the lower frame rate, pewable...
Someone needs to check if this skip works on console.
So many new things happening and yet I have to be busy most days...  Good job everyone for the progress. I cant wait to get back into the game again!
I actually just broke my mouse wheel trying the intro OoB. So I think a name like Mousewheel Destructor would be appropriate.
Has anybody been able to replicate this first OoB on console? I've only had access to PS3 tomb raider and I haven't been able to get OoB yet.
