And I spent all my day trying to go on the waterfall... I am so bad with this thing, can go next to the waterfall like I want, but can't go on it, I will try again tomorrow. Nice!
So artistic was suggesting this new way of getting the OOB from where you do the first grim fight. I set out to work on it and eventually got it. It's not very consistent yet though. Here's the video where I get it, plus some more OOB stuff after that:
Artistic found a way up to where I showed in the video but there was no checkpoint. We're still hoping there's one at the cave exit, if we can get there.
Why were fire arrows needed before this skip and now are not? What happens now after the skip if you use fast travel to mountain summit or the caves? Will the game play the story? Is everything opened?
Because this skip skips the part where fire arrows were needed. [EDIT: Enterance blood cave, first gas cloud has to be ignited with a fire arrow]
I don't know yet but when you do lara sky walker and then go to the alex ship the second half is sunk and walls are torn down.. so maybe the game thinks you were there as well with mountain summit.
Btw good news for the elevator puzzle without grenade launcher and climbers agility. Just found a new way to skip it that should be faster than ever and with a bit of practise easier too http://www.twitch.tv/theartisticballistic/c/3743668
Yes, yes you can. You can also clip the door right before it (the one that you need to press the green button to open). I don't know how much time a perfect clip would save though.
I was looking for a trainer with a save state feature, for training etc.. I found something close : the YamataiPatch I don't know if someone already talked about it, but I think it could be useful for practicing on PC
It has some nice features :
"YAMATAIPatch is a trainer for TR2013 enabling such features as:
-Infinite Health, ammo, clipsize, skill points, and salvage points. -Extra damage -All upgrades -Early Outfit changes -Bigger Jump -Faster Runspeed -Hovering/Levitation -Teleportation with bookmarks and precise coordinates"
I test it. It work fine with the lastest Steam version. The AirWalk is definitely something you want to try. Might help to know if there is a checkpoint somewhere interesting.
Hi guys! I wanted to get involved with speedrunning (finally - I've been watching AGDQ and SDGQ for a couple of years now), and I loved this game, so... It makes me happy there's an active group of people speedrunning it already!
Anyway - any tips for getting started, or any area you think I could take a look at to see if there's any useful stuff? I'm not going to attempt a full speedrun of it myself, yet, not until I've got some of the more basic movements/glitches practiced anyway.
Cheers, and looking forward to chatting more with you guys Dave
welcome eonruiz! always nice to see more runners. I made a tutorial walkthrough on Youtube [link] and you can also take a look in the Knowledge Base for text explanations by PotatoHandle with some video links as well. as for areas to look into, if you are on console, figure out an easier/consistent way to do the skywalker glitch for the awesome skips that have been recently found (and are absent from my tutorial)
Hey eonrulz, you can watch Artistic's stream, he's the person that streams Tomb Raider speedrunning the most as far as I know. (http://www.twitch.tv/theartisticballistic)
I can't even skywalker up the wall with the new clip. and it's a complete bitch to practice. I tried messing around and going straight to the gondola instead of down and to the wall, but that doesn't work (no checkpoints). Or I haven't succeeded at it yet.
Hey all, just checking in to say that the elevator skip works just fine in the Ps4 version. It was way easier than I expected. I thought the higher frame rate disabled these glitches?
the higher framerate does not eliminate any glitches, it makes pause buffering more difficult and there are also other certain things that seem to be easier at a higher framerate (i.e. standing on the fence for the friendship skip).
As previously reported on the XBOX ONE version of the game, the end battle skip cannot be performed on the PS4 version of the game. This really sucks, because the game is so pretty. I really wanted to run the better performing version.
There is no trigger to load the final cutscene, so you can walk strait up to the sacrifice taking place, and see how janky the models and animations are up close! You can also explore a bit of the area (about a quarter of it) where you would normally fight the enemies. Beware though, once you try to explore this bit, a (1 way?) invisible wall will prohibit you from getting back to the bridge.
Seems like the final nail in the coffin for running this version of the game....
EDIT: Hey Brass, I'm following your tutorial video right now, and everything has been pretty much to the tee. Outside of a few minor issues, every major trick has worked so far, until now. I just found some subtle geometry changes that, I think, prevent the gate skip just before the Grimm skip. In your video there is a wooden plank in addition to the fence. In my version there is only fence, and it's butted right up against the wall. Your version seems to have a much more perceivable gap to slip through as well.
Now, is this just a minor cosmetic change (unchanged collision geometry), or is it an exploit fix? In either case I can't do the GD skip. Your video was a little confusing on the skip though. Do I get in the corner and then tap backwards so that my lunges go back into the fence? If I never touch back at all she just lunges forward. Then you appear to continue lunging, but you only talk about lunging twice ever.
Sorry for being new, but I am trying. I've been learning quite a bit. Thanks.
BTW, maybe it's just a lack of skill, but I don't see any conceivable way to do those door clips, at this many fps, in an SS, all in the heat of battle. Do PC runners really try clipping ALL the doors in your video. Surprisingly I was able to get the shanty town gate clip, but I had to skip a couple in the indoor areas just cause the frame rate was too solid...
DOUBLE EDIT: Ugh.... I just noticed that I never got the fire arrows either, so I'm likely heading into a dead end into this point anyway...
Caveberry: the first few times I successfully clipped the Shanty Town gate I didn't get the Fire arrows either. I play on the PC tho. for some reason we think that if you do manage to clip the gate but it took you too long after the cutscene beforehand something in the game doesn't fuck up and decides to not give you fire arrrows.
For the skip that I think you are having trouble with I believe that you hold aim, then Lunge twice then hold back after the second one. That's how I do it. It's completely possible to do it in one. But for some reason I've had more consistency with two.
We don't clip all the doors in brass's video iirc due to the fact that door clipping is somewhat a bitch on pc. Someone may correct me tho (with better info).
Yeah, i realized I learned that clip wrong and my explanation is screwed up. Once you are in the corner and aiming at the post, you are done with the left stick (or WASD on PC), while holding aim, scramble twice (she scrambles backwards while aiming), then slowly move your aiming location to the right and magically she will backup through the fence without holding down or pressing S. As for the Fire Arrows, I dunno what to say without seeing from when you enter shantytown to clipping the gate.
