Hey guys, this concept has interested me for a while, but i'm curious as to if it has interested anyone else.

I already have some techniques, but I'd like to bounce them off of someone both A. more experienced at the game and B. with a better recording/streaming kit than me.

The other two things of worry to me are that I'm new to the community and still trying to figure out how things work. Regardless, if anyone is interested in running this with me, please don't be hesitant to post or contact me.

You're pretty good...
I would but  i need to complete the story mode first, as well as collect story mode. also if you want a 100 year% (i made that up) you can just do the robot you get for completing the game and jump on the lamp post in the beginning of the game since nothing can hurt you up there you will be fine, all you have to do is idle. i also don't know of many glitches but i would love to break this game.

i don't think 100 year % is a thing since the year is based off of time itself, and the goal is speed =P

story mode is the thing i'm thinking needs to the run. the question i see is should it be segmented, or new save %

it's not a glitch but one of the things you can do to save time is to flick the right stick immediately after hitting (and landing) r1, because it allows you to cancil out of a bite, yet the damage still gets done. if it one hits the enemy, then it can be used to chain from enemy to enemy to save time and keep your hp up. if it's a single enemy, even if it doesn't one hit, you can use it to give you a speed boost towards the enemy and cut down the after attack delay

the other thing i noticed is enemies don't seem to see you when you're in the air. so if you're jumping from brush to brush, so long as you land in the brush your fine. the only thing that needs to be done at that point is to jump out of the brush because simply being in said brush is enough to slow you down significantly

something i noticed in the second to last level was that you can literally run through most encounters, almost as though it was the intentional thing to do in the game, and i remember sitting down with my friend figuring out the cycles during out first run through of the game. I haven't timed anything yet but those concepts in mind helps cut down alot of time.

the other thing is that for the starting deer they give you, your speed and jump are good enough to get away from most things if you're smart, so i've been practicing collecting the reports with only that deer to save time and not need to farm up the points to unlock animals. i don't know how well this is going to do with the later reports, like the one where you have to run through the final area, but i'm willing to try to see if it's possible. if it is then i think that a new save % should be possible without being a flat out marathon run
For the people who love is alls for him

im not sure if you knew about this but crouching and eating makes you eat faster. when you dodge i think the bite thing shows up faster even if you dont dodge an enemy attack, also i think enemys still see you while jumping. do you know if dodging gives you i frames because this could help alot in a battle.
I don't know for sure if dodging gives you i frames, i'm not currently at my console, but i do think that if you jump correctly, the ai has blind spots. I think this is a thing solely because of there being alot of times where me and my friend would jump right in front of ai and they'd not trigger offense. When I get on later today (sunday 25th) I will likely test out ai vision a bit, to see how much i CAN get away with against wolves.

I still need to do a test to see if dodging or jumping with the deer for movement is quicker, but dodging is quicker in bursts for sure, especially with the bite trick. That being said, it keeps the necessity of having dodge meter there. when i need my dodge meter to refill quickly while i need to keep moving, i actually pause for a second or two, then start jumping while moving. as much as i'm unsure if dodging is faster than jumping, i know that for some animals jumping is still faster than walking (bad two player experiences proved it admittedly) this keeps the relative speed up, while allowing time for the doge meter to refill (albeit slower)

as for the bite trigger showing up sooner when you dodge, i don't know for sure if that's the thing. I've gotten into the habit of just hitting them with a predator animal to force it to trigger, going so far as to tank hits if need be. bite dodging/dashing has literally cut the time on fights like the beagle tosa fight down ridiculous levels.

as far as glitch hunting goes, i'm game, though i doubt you can sequence break much stuff. I remember trying to sequence break the baby pom pom segment, and it told me not to go far out alone (admittedly i had forgotten that you pretty much get thrown into the boss fight) But i also found out a funny little programmed in thing where it'll tell you that you can't pick it up, right before you start dragging it, though i'm sure you found that one aswell. kinda just found it funny.

Oh just remembered something, i think that the reason the bite shows up faster is because you need to be in a certain facing while your target is in a certain facing, but you also need to be a certain distance away. the thing about dodging into a running target is the burst of speed you get from the start of the dodge movement, it closes distance fast, your facing is straight on, and their only defense is distance.
I'm thinking that if you're fighting the target head to head, you'd need to dodge a little past them, while still facing them enough to trigger the bite. this is just a thought and i'll try to test this one as well, but if it rings true, then the bite can be manipulated just the tiniest bit more, and i'm sure we agree at this point that the bite is the fastest form of movement and the strongest attack the gave gives you. (on most animals... just remembered how wonky some of the other "bite" animations are)

(forgive the text bomb)
about the crouch eating. it cancels the animation and saves a few seconds worth of time, but all in all, i lose those seconds trying to set up for it.

about the dodging into a bite, i haven't been able to make it work yet on enemies that are attacking.

About movement speed, it seems to work like dodge > Jump> walking. by dodge taking 2.5 seconds (as deer) to pass a small storefront, jump taking roughly 3, and walking taking 3.5, will note that with grazers, the double jump slows you back down to walking speed on the second jump, so unless you're using it for the extra height, i'd recommend waiting till you get as low as possible.

I was i frames with a cat when i died due to hunter =P Way to go me =P

so happy people are working on this game. im still trying to get alot of the animal's. is there any way to do this quick ?
i remember trying alot of things, but the only thing i can really say is that some animals have a bonus to their multiplier. they tend to be weaker ones that are hard to survive with, and more often then not are grazers. next is to do all the quests for that animal that you can, while reproducing as often as possible, and that means settling for what you can get. the moment you have a quest you know you can't do, shift your entire focus to repopulating as often as possible, and staying closer to where the food is.

i mean it's basics 101 i know, and it's not really speed run strats, but there are also some record strats out there, look around for those. they may tell you which animals give the best multiplier. the only other bit of advice i can offer is to not buy every animal you can. if there is an animal you know you'll want, save up for it, and get only those in the tree towards that animal.
You're pretty good...
what would 100% be. sounds like a nightmare. also do you know how many story missions there are i think im on the 5th one. man this game is getting my sad and stuff Sad
The only thing to run in survival mode is challenge completion and that will boil down to a build up of 60 minutes followed by how fast the last set of challenges can be completed (15 minute maximum). An individual level run of story mode is more plausible.

Dodging is the fastest way to travel by a long shot. Each dodge takes 7 stamina. This is important because an empty stamina gauge takes longer to refill than one with 1-7 points. Even though stamina does not regenerate during jumps, the distance gained from dodge movement is still better than raw jumping despite having to walk while waiting on the stamina gauge. I completed the 100 years survival with the goat and the all challenges trophy with the golden retriever, neither of which would have been possible if I didn't abuse dodge movement. The robot dog at the end game for story mode has something like 300+ stamina, so knock yourself out.

Someone already mentioned canceling attacks and clean kills with dodge. I used that a lot. Clean kill indicators pop up if: A. You're chasing a running target, B. You're next to an unaware target, or C. A target has been dealt a large amount of sequential damage.

My only story mode specific tip is to only kill targets that are necessary. I remember skipping a lot of fights. I found the sewer stealth level to be incredibly irritating.
