There's three endings to this game: 5k, 10k, and 20k dollars. My goal is to get just enough money for the worst ending, then deliberately kill myself. I start off at the beginning by getting the mouse trap three straight times, which puts me one hit away from game over. If you hit the mousetrap the fourth time and you have enough money to win, then you get the ending the same as if you completed all 30 days.

This game has a set pattern to the choices each day, so it shouldn't be too hard to optimize it. I missed one trivia question which would've saved me from doing the final day and the 20 seconds that took.

I think picking Crackers the first day and doing really well in that may be the fastest choice. Under 6 minutes is definitely possible.

I just watched a video of this the other day and thought that it wouldn't work because it's on a fixed clock.  I guess dying early fixes that issues.

Do later days give you better money?  I ask because estimating 7 days for 5k cuts it really close for the best ending before 30 days.  Each ending is a separate category I believe, although you should check with mike if you plan to do more; maybe only worst and best ending?

Based on my memory of this game from playing it as a kid, certain games give more money (but at the cost of more time).  Although if you're really good at the Waiters Soup-eating game, I think it's possible to win on day 1 (just might be a VERY long game).

Edit:  I suck at remembering which game is which.

I think the only game that gives you more money is Waiters, but the very first time you only get about $450. If you sit there and dodge pies for a while, you can get 800 something, but that's not worth the time. I may do the boxing game first, that's $700 at the cost of a little more time.

Time is down to 6:07 with little effort. I missed 3/6 trivia questions, and ended up with $355 more than necessary.

Day 1: 1:27 - $700
Day 2: 2:29 - $1,000 ($1,700 total)
Day 3: 3:01 - $200 ($1,900 total)
Day 4: 3:20 - $1,000 ($2,900 total)
Day 5: 3:53 - $400 ($3,300 total)
Day 6: 5:01 - $1,030 ($4,330 total)
Day 7: 6:01 - $1,025 ($5,355 total)

6:07 - final button press

Boxing - 1
Doctors - 2, 7
Trivia - 3, 5
? - 4
Waiters - 6

If everything goes perfect, I should be able to finish in 6 days, using the following order:

boxing - $800 which requires you to finish on the third round. Hard but doable.
doctors - $1000 that's without getting hit and holding up the entire time.
trivia - $600 for getting all three questions correct.
? - $1000 there's about a 50% chance of getting a money bag, and it often seems to be 1k (the max).
trivia - $600 same as above.
doctors - $1000 same as above

That's 5k in exactly 6 days. Boxing seems to take about 20 seconds longer than Waiters, so maybe adding an extra day and doing Waiters + Cash would be faster? Although, I guess every mistake I avoid in Boxing helps the time and I would be avoiding a couple of mistakes to get 800 in that game.

Still need to do testing on Crackers to see if playing only that game would be faster.

Alright, the good news is I just tested it on an emulator, and at 6:13 it was actually slower than the run I have now. Thank god cuz that would've been much harder to pull off.

Got a 5:10 tonight! That's despite fucking up the second doctors game and hitting a patient, forcing me to do an extra day (money bag). Probably would've been under 5 minutes (and submit-able) otherwise.

I've decided to go for the money bag rather than the ?, which makes sense.

If you select doctors on the final day, you can see four more choices come up that are impossible to select. The first is a black space, followed by crackers, followed by two messed up squares. Wonder if there's a game genie code or something that lets you select them?

Tonight I got a great run in only six days! Final time is 4:40 from gaining control to the final mousetrap (4:44 from pushing start).

I made only one mistake on the boxing game which cost about 2 seconds.

I think the only route that would be faster is boxing-doctors-cash-trivia-???-trivia. That replaces the second doctor game with the ??. However, that would require getting $1,000 on both the cash and the ?? (which only has a 50% chance of giving you any cash to begin with) and I'm sure the odds are extremely against that happening. Probably less than a 1% chance of getting everything to go right, and I'm not sure I want to spend that amount of time on this game.

Of course, I do think the current run is very good, almost perfect (-2 seconds) for the route used. So I could just submit it and contemplate improving it at a later time.
