The photo trick was what I was talking about with skater specific goals.

Ok, I deleted my last post as I think I grasp the situation now.

You are suggesting running through completely with one character, and then using another to do only the photo tricks and possibly SKATE. Is this correct?
Tub thinks 100% for both would be a good idea. I honestly could care less. My own idea for 100% would just be one skater, but I can't clarify until I have a fair amount of opinions. If you still stick by your own opinion, that's two for one skater.

I just want to clarify that when I said 'I could care less', I meant I could care less about what 100% is, not I could care less about what Tub thinks >_>. I just realized it could be read like that.

The tape will be sent Friday. I still need more people's opinions on what 100% is.

with other speedruns, game is 100% done when it's finished with a character. if there are several characters, the fastest one should be picked.
people don't say it's not 100% done if you don't see every character's ending ; a single one is usually enough.
if the characters are different enough, then there will be (IMHO) as many categories. I don't know if that's the case for thps3 though.
example : resident evil finished with jill or chris. the low% is done with jill only, since it's faster with her.

and I enjoyed the thps2 run a lot with just rodney Smiley
That's three for one and one for two. If no one else answers (and I hope more do), then the 100% run will be with just one skater.
I'd consider it all that stuff for one skater and which one you choose should be mostly dependant on SKATE and photo placements(they are all pretty much the same in ability IIRC, especially once you start getting stats).  Of course, much unlike pure speed, Cruise Ship definately counts here(no real need to say it, but whatever).

give me your eyes!!!
Tub said basically all skaters, not all storylines, just their specific missions (though I don't know if that's possible without playing through each first, it certainly was on THPS4).

If you can do each skaters specific missions (which proabably aren't even in the game) I vote for that.

If not, of course it should be only one skater, whatever is fastest.
THPS3 plays like THPS2 and THPS, not THPS4. There is no story in THPS3; it's a string of levels with goals. Vert skaters have one unique goal, and street skaters have their own unique goal. There are also several different SKATE letter placements.

Which means I think that's a 'not'.

If no one argues against this, starting tonight my planning will shift 100% focus onto one skater, and I should be able to start running it by the end of the week.
give me your eyes!!!
Ah yes it's all coming back to me.

One-Skater ftw! Or whatever...
Tape for pure speed has been mailed.

I'm still prepping this one. I'm pretty sure Foundry's down solid, Canada's giving me some issues with stats and Suburbia is annoying. But I'm working on it.

What times are you getting for canada with all stat points?

I can't remember about Canada, but I'll get back to you on it.

I've actually since dropped the concept of doing a THPS3 100% run temporarily; THAS has really gained a grip on my interest and I've decided I'll be attempting a speed run of the Story mode for that game (Classic I may do some other time in the future). I made this decision a bit ago, but haven't been making too much progress, other than playing through the game again and just generally screwing around. I know I'll do it on Sick difficulty, and it won't be 100%.

I'll also be making a seperate topic for it just as soon as I really get started on it, with planning and all that. One concern I have with my THPS3 speed run (currently on the list of games that need to be verified) is that while it's a good (though beatable) time, not all of it looks flashy. I'll admit to several dull moments throughout the run that, while good on speed, are bad on skill display. I probably look like I suck at the game =P. In THAS, I'm hoping to get different results; I'll be studying combo videos for neat tricks and such and applying those techniques to my run. My THPS3 run broke me into speed running and got me used to how things work, with planning and such; I'd like to consider my THAS run my 'real' first run, if you will.

Not to say that you should ignore and forget about my THPS3 run. I did put a lot of work into that! Smiley

I know I'm still keen to see it, so relax Smiley

THPS3 100% and THAW Any % are on hold, because I've discovered many new, better paths in THPS3 Any % that will lead me to sub 10.

For example, I can now have the entirety of Rio completed in under half a minute (in theory) by using a different line than I used last time. Same applies for the other comp. levels, and I've fixed up all the other levels too (except for Foundry, which I think is running off essentially the 'perfect' line, though I'm still toying with it).

What does this mean? Over the weekend I'll do some more planning, then I'll take some cracks at a run. If I get a sub 10 that I'm happy with, I'll send it in. And yeah, I know my first, original sub 10 isnt up yet. But whatever, this is too tempting to resist >_>

I think I'll jump right into THPS3 100% afterwards since I'm in such a THPS3-heavy mood these days (the last week or so saw no THAW progress; just THPS3 screwing around). It will be sweet stuff. I'm excited @_@

Now, two questions comes from this: according to the rules, a speed run begins when I user takes control of their character. Does that mean I can edit stats/tricks prior to actually beginning the career and have it not count for time? Adding special tricks that are easier to pull off in tight situations and adding ones that are worth more will shave off some time, which is why I'm asking. The other question regards music; the game has 20 tracks of licensed music. Do I have to turn that off when I run it? I did in my original run, and it doesn't really matter either way, but music + skating is more entertaining than just skating, IMO.
Eternal Understudy
Don't turn off the music. Runs are no fun without music.
As for timing, I'm pretty sure that stat adjusting would count towards your time. The reason would be because it affects your gameplay, similar to selecting a character in Mario 2 or a TMNT game, or when choosing your area or level like in Legend of Mana, or a Mega Man game.
I'm addicted to games
I never received comments for the run...
